- Today we take the FTX Outback Gladius budget friendly RC Rock Crawler/Trail Truck and make it insane with a high powered brushless system.
RC Crawling bores me which is why you rarely see crawling content on my channel (although I do occasional crawling videos anyway to make sure my channel appeals to a wider audience)
I like speed and power and crawling just doesn't satisfy my hunger when it comes to running my every day RC Cars.
So I thought how can I make an RC crawler fun?

The Gladius held up well and after a few more adjustments i think i will be leaving this combo in the truck to have even more fun with it!

Crawling just isn't for me. I have tried so many times to enjoy it but I just get bored! I do appreciate some people love crawling in the hobby but I just dont get the same feeling I get when running high powered 4/6/8s cars! I don't understand why more people don't do this. It seems like it did very well handling and all.
because the norm is SLOW when it comes to crawling. Lots of people fit upgraded brushless motors but they are still low KV and slow for good torque. Almost no one goes the other way and fits high KV setups for more speed!
@beyondRC I'm one of the outliers lol. Of my 3 crawlers, 1 runs a 4.5t sensored 3650 and another runs an uncensored 5400kv (8.5t?) 3650. They aren't as fast as my bashers, even the 1/16th HBX, but they can bounce and mudbog far better than my other crawler with a 17.5t sensored setup. I guess to the "purists" they'd be considered trail trucks, but nuts to them, I'm grinning like an idiot every time I take one out for a run lol

I did something similar with a TRX4 Clone I got off eBay. Turned it into a early 90's Monster Truck type thing with a brushless system, MT tires and wheels, spacers, etc lol It was great fun.

Man I really like this video. I've always wanted to watch a video like this. Those crawlers are really cool looking to me. So putting a nice fast engine in there like you did really sparks my interest. It'd be cool to find a real top quality crawler and do exactly what you just did to this one. Awesome video brother! You took a crawler and turned it into a very capable rock bouncer! It looked incredibly fun to me! For the longest time I never saw what attracted people to crawling because I'm a basher guy. I finally gave in and tried it a few years ago and now I love both. They require completely different skill sets that are both very enjoyable to me now. Rock bouncers are awesome because they are a bit of both. High speed on rough terrain, I actually bought a Redcat Windego builders kit and brushless system to go in it to make the very same kind of experience you had there! I enjoy that almost out of control feeling 😂 great video my friend 💯 🤜 🤛

Awesome video! Put a smile on my face. I also could never get into crawling. I’ve had a few of them and after driving them for 10 minutes I’m already bored. How could anyone find 1/8 scale and larger bashing boring? It’s a next level thrill!
Crawling isn't for everyone and its definitely not for me. I have tried so many times but just cant get the same feeling that I get from the faster more powerful and larger stuff! Nothing against crawling fans and on a proper competitive track I can imagine its good fun.

That was a super silly video ... I loved it! -- I didn't think I would like crawling either. After a lifetime of street racers, dirt racers, carpet racers, bashers ... I finally bought a TRX-4 High Trail last year... absolutely love it. I never knew going so slow could be so much fun. -- Great channel, I've recently found out and am subscribed!

Looks like alot of fun! I'm amazed the drive train and axles held up to that. Very good! It's sort of a torture test away from a skatepark, I suggest bringing it to the dirt track next time. 😋👍

crawling not for me either, my son enjoys his Austar indoors crawling over household stuff but I frankly find it boring. This looked like a fun project, not something I would do simply because of cost but I guess being an RC channel you can have some fun with stuff like this with is fun to watch.
