    With Alpha Legion you actually have a few different color schemes all of which are correct. You've got the metallic teal/cyan color on forgeworld, a dark cobalt, a blueish purple, veridian, dark blue with green highlights, or sapphire/metallic blue.

    It would be easier to convince people to start Horus Heresy armies if more of the models had rules for 40K. They don't even bother providing experimental rules these days. Forge World have been run so poorly in the past few years and so many models and upgrade sets have been discontinued that I can't trust them enough to start an army anymore.
    The Kharon Pattern Acquisitor for Sisters of SIlence is a good example; I'd buy a unit of sisters and a Kharon if it had rules for 40k and it could help form the basis of a HH force which would lead to more purchases. Such a bizarre and outdated way to manage a game system.

    • @ollzy6663
      @ollzy6663 Před 4 lety +1

      In fact they don't even need to be Relic now I think about it, there's absolutely nothing to suggest the Kharon doesn't exist in 40k. Games Workshop introduce new units all the time that "don't exist", the SoS aren't exactly the most fleshed out faction so introducing a transport isn't exactly lore breaking. Same logic applies to the Forgeworld Custodes units without rules. Regardless, the Kharon is almost certainly going to get 40k rules soon because FW announced the Talons of the Emperor Codex ages ago.
      Which brings me back to my original post, they've wasted years of potential 40k sales by not giving it and dozens of other models rules. That is an insane business model: why would you not want to maximize the sales potential of your products?

    As a Sons of Horus player, I like taking Maloghurst the Twisted in lower point games (1000) since he gives your force the Reaver Onslaught effect without having to take "The Black Reaving" as your Rite of War. Side note, I believe in your Son's of Horus video you stated something like "you will need to cut his arm off and stick a banner on..." But I think surviving a orbital crash pretty much made him a living icon for his legion, so... His physical presence on the battlefield is a banner to Horus's sons. Funny thing that he didn't get "Born Survivor" like Loken, but I guess an orbital bombardment and virus bombing attack is worse than falling out of space and hitting the ground and being the sole survivor.
    I find reavers to be really good, though pricey--you have to watch what you are paying for. Best thing to do, when running the "The Black Reaving" is stick 9 of them in an Anvillus Dreadclaw with five+ Combi-meltas (because each model in the squad can take them) and the Master of Signal (that you must take with the rite of war), Drop Pod Assault them in on turn 1 beside something big and nasty. At that point melta the crap out of the big nasty, if it didn't die or there's a horde nearby use the MofS orbital bombardment. Next turn deep strike in some Justaerin (part of the rite of war) and they will not scatter with your MofS's Nunico-vox And oh because of your MofS's Cognis-signum the multi-melta that you can give a Justaerin fires with +1 BS (though they are chosen warriors so ask your opponent). It is a very Son's of Horus game style and if it works quite enjoyable to see your opponent's face. Unless they are White Scars, Alpha legion, Night Lords, Raven Wing, Raven Guard, Blood angels.... yah
    Thanks again Macce for the advice on the command rhino it has really help in making sure this happens! (Though it will take an already limited space within your HQ slot-- remember you must take a MofS.)
    Reavers are not bad if equiped with jump packs (50 points straight up) and chain axes coming in from Outflank but without a command rhino you are playing the lottery with over 300 of your points--they have Fleet with the "Encirclement" effect. And finally, taking Volkite Chargers on them with the Death Dealer legion special rule and Precision Shot can be nasty on enemy HQs which is pretty much what these guys are designed to do; cut the head off the snake!
    Thanks Macce for your videos. I enjoy your candid view on things.

    The idea of a daemon army waning in strength as time goes on seems quite interesting to me, its much like their hold on being in the materium slipping as they take certain casualties or lack in resources of a sort, if only the reverse of the mechanic could also be added as the goal of the army you'd really feel that hunger they have to retain themselves.

    • @TheOuterCircle
      @TheOuterCircle  Před 4 lety +9

      So there are some fan-made rules for them in 30k, but essentially in the Heresy, mankind is totally dominant, they have almost finished the great crusade, the entire galaxy is subjugated, all the ork empires are dead, their worlds utterly destroyed. The Eldar are still reeling from the birth of Slaanesh, and wary of humanity as they don't want to bring down the entire galaxy conquering force upon themselves. The Necrons are asleep.

    I don't play / Have desire to play 30k but I have always loved the Lore behind 30k and Always back in my 40k days wanted to make somethng based around the Flight of the Eisenstein however I ran into some problems around 2010 when I was concidering this.
    A: No Plastic SM Models in proper armour marks
    B: Gw Kept Retconning the ammount of men from each legion that were on the ship finalizing on 69DG and 1 LW
    So I canceled the idea
    I eventually left 40k for some time but then last year at my wifes request we started Kill team, and this uses a 20 man roster system (both the 18 and 21 versions)
    Having always had this idea of Heresy era Eisenstein dudes in my mind I decided to write my own fluff for a group of 20 Loyalists who survived Isstvan III and tried to warn the emperor as well but got stuck in a warp eddy and emerged in M41 now on a hunt to fight and kill their traitorous bretheren.
    In the 11 years the idea had been racking my brain
    A: GW made Plastic Mark III and IV (I chose all Mark III for this project)
    B: Since It was my project now and not tied to existing fluff I could pick my own numbers Hence my Memoirs of Isstvan Team who is made up of 5 EC 5 DG 5 LW and 5 WE
    2 of them (Jump pack and Two chainswords world eater) and Storm shield and Bolter LW became Illegal loadouts in the transition to KT21 but if I run the others as Deathwatch I can use all of the other 18 so its really cool
    I just came here to listen and see what was going on in the 30k side of things.

    Iron Hands Player "They are tough".
    I play them as Vehicle heavy panzer Grenadiers, so 10man Tacticals in Rhinos...I aim to out number the enemy so 3-4 x 10man tacticals, then a deathstar unit, and a tarpit unit. Immortals with Cyber Familiar and a basic Forgelord attached with say RAD Grenades is a Tarpit from hell. The only character (outside of a primarch) I have seen deal with them was KHARN and it took 3 turns and he was down to 1 wound. They are a mega tarpit throw them at the enemy Deathstar and tie them down for turns. I run cheap Landraider Proteus Squadrons (rather than Predators) and basically saturate the enemy with vehicles... Usually 8 or so. At 2500pts if I don't take ferrus I take a Fellblade the Iron hands become a "Line Holder" formation. Graviton can work well for them but is expensive. Plus if you want to go Cheese use the relics to make "30k Chapter Master Smash-f**ker" from 1d4 Chan. 3 x tacticals in Rhinos 600 points (dependent on Sgt loadout) - 3 x Proteus - 600pts. 1200 pts - 300pts for HQ's. That is my core 1500pts then I keep adding to them, for other ubits. My area plays 2000pts minimum and 3000pts when Primarchs are in.

    What would you say is the fluffyist legion for all terminator and dread? I'm thinking about doing that and maybe going SOH would it be fluffy to have multiple justaerin units?

    • @minimundus1712
      @minimundus1712 Před 4 lety

      Yeah theres ROW where you can take termies and reavers as standart, or you take Pride of the LEgion and yeah Justarian are the best termie minis

      @@minimundus1712 I was just not sure if it's fluffy to take multiple units of the named elete termies? But yeah I think SOH have the best unique ones, 10 points extra for +1 WS and +1 W, yes please.

    How is the balance/meta of 30K? Is there legions where one should beware of building an OP list?
    I'm planning of building a blood angel 30k army but I've read that some of the units availaible to me are really good, I'd like not to be that guy who brings an IH Leviathan dread to friendly 40k match. Any advices?

      Anything can potentially be OP, build the list you want and if it's OP you'll soon find out.

      They’re GW miniatures, so yes. They’re much, much smaller than modern minis though, so tournament-wise it’s shaky,

    The Iron Hands aren't very popular because they've got a bland colour scheme, a Primarch who got himself killed SUPER early and honestly not enough representation in 30 and 40k.

    $665 for one model?!? That's, that's just........B.S.
    BTW do you HAVE to use the main legion paint job for official tournaments? That's kind why I was never interested in 30k.

    • @TheOuterCircle
      @TheOuterCircle  Před 4 lety

      Official tournaments? Or do you mean events? We don't play competitive generally, it really comes down to a thematic paint job and actually painting the minis. You can use the alternate schemes, the pre-primarch schemes, whatever you like.
