Pyrolysis Tyre Oil - chemical treatments experiment

- The video is about an attempt to clean a sample of stinky and dark tyre pyrolysis oil with some chemicals in order to identify the best way of this type of fuel processing method.
The following steps were taken:
Add about 0.5 to 1% of concentrated sulfuric acid.
Mix the oil with acid for at least 10 minutes.
Separate the oil from the sour tar.
Add 0.2% of triethanolamine. And mix for 30 min.
Now filter the resulting fuel or run it through a centrifuge.
Personally I do not like this method - because it is too messy.

Soooo glad you did this. I may have missed it... have you done same steps with PRE- distilled WMO? Appologize if you have and I missed that vid.. CZcams dropped my subscription down a level so have not been getting notifications of your videos till I discovered it the other day and bumped my subscription level up a notch again to the top.
I am usually run the pre-distilled oil trough a centrifuge first.
@@santeryi9 yeah...... Im curious to know how much the chemical bath makes stuff drop out..... allowing the person to NOT have to centrifuge as much.... or with out heat etc..
Have you experimented with other acids? there has been some interesting study's done with Acetic Acid that were promising... and was easier to get it back to a more neutral PH too. Think it is less costly too.

Hi alek looks like this oil can be cleaned using ethoxide and naoh but i have a doubt do we need to distill this oil also first then clean using ethoxide
yes, it is better to continuously distill it first, and only then chemically clean and centrifuge, this will produce a transparent and odor free fuel.

Honestly never tried, just conduct a small experiment yourself, it would not take much.

On the other hand, biodegradable sources may contain a high proportion of resins or fatty acids that can solidify at low temperatures

Hi, what sorts of oil you are working with? In my case it was already distilled pyrolysis oil, also there is only 0.5% of acid needed.

After treatment the tire derrived pyrolysis oil mus be tested for possible corrosiveness - copper strip test, the tire oil originally contans a lot of sulfur. then it must be checked for dencity, and possibly either a bit of two stroke oil must be added or some sort of diesel fuel conditioner. And only then it can be used in any diesel engine.

Did you try it yourself? I did, it is not really works, there is moltem carbamide method that require some hydrogen peroxide at fial step, but that method requires elevated temperature of the product and carbamide - energy and labor intensive.

Полностью с вами согласен, сам этой дрянью не пользуюсь, просто мне прислали образец толива и попросили применитьразные способы очистки, включая этот, в моём предидущем видео я осветляю такое топливо перегонкой.
