    Part 1: • Decoding a Master Dial...
    Part 2: • Decoding a Master Dial...
    Part 3: • Decoding a Master Dial...
    Part 4: • Decoding a Master Dial...
    Most of the tricks in these videos were developed by others. Samy Kamkar has a particularly good web page with more details at samy.pl/master/master.html

    After spending hours reading the wonder-how-to article and trying to figure my lock out, then watching your videos, I finally popped my lock. My mind is blown. Amazing. Great visual showing the inside mechanism.

    Thank you so much for these 4 videos, i had one of these locks laying around for around like 6 years and I remember throwing away the code thinking "I wont forget". Well one day i opened it and never touched it again for 6 years, there's been many times where i could really use a lock and i thought of the one i had but i had no idea what the combination was so i just toughed it out, now that i plan on needing a lock i decided to try and get the combination, at first i tried to see if i could just change the code since it was unlocked but i realized that wasn't possible so i locked it and went youtube, all of the videos made absolutely no sense, it was the same concept but just complete gibberish, but with your videos and actually logical explanations its made the process so much easier to follow and guess what I FOUND IT, i was honestly very surprised to find it because a part of me was sceptical but I'm really glad i found it again and saved me some money. Thank you for your explanations, ill really appreciate it.

    Thank you so much!
    I've been able to remove a lock from my gym bag and recup 2 other locks I had in the bottom of a drawer. It's not for the money, just for fun of it and doing what seems impossible.

    This series of four parts is the first one that worked for my small (but normally colored chrome / black) Master lock. Getting the first number on these smaller locks is tricky and this series is the only one I found so far that covered it.

    Wow! I got it! WoooooHooooooo!!!
    LOL
    I was pulling up, too hard, when trying to find the last number. So, I let up a little, on the shackle, then it did go a little bit further, on a couple numbers. One, was just two over from the first number. Then another one did it, just a little more. So, I did what I knew was the first, then went to what I just figured another possibilty for the third number, but used it as my 2nd. Then moved back 2 at a time, and tugging on each one. Eventually, it opened on one I had put down, as a possible 3rd number. It popped open. Sheeeeeesh! I've been trying ro get this open for months. Thank you!

    For anyone with the attention, this method is the one that works. I do not know why your four videos are not at the top of the CZcams list. I hope that the thieves do not find your vidos or will not have the patience. I go to a gym here at the University where I work. many of the people who come leave their locks behind or throw them away when they forget the combination. The lost and found will take no more, actually. I had three of them and I got all three combinations and the locks working in half an hour with your method. Thank you again. Bernardo.

    Thank you :) It Top-notch, excellent series, would recommend it to anyone looking to know how to decode and feel false gates.
    It took a bit, but I got the false gate, very subtle difference, as this lock put them on offsets of three 3.1 - 4.1 but the false gate was a 3.9 to 4.9 which was the odd man out. As it was the only one gated in that range. everyone else was offset and gated correctly. so sometimes it's just the odd gate.

      I'm glad you were able to get it! What part did you struggle the most with? I find that sometimes the first number is really hard to get. It depends a lot on the specific lock.

    • @General_Haze
      @General_Haze Před 6 lety

      bmenrigh I was playing around with the lock at first and somehow I got it open randomly, but I didn't take note of what numbers I used because I didn't expect it to open. So I made the decision to close it and re try it. I did note the last number I opened it with so I really struggled with the first two numbers, but I found the first number to be easier to find after watching your videos. The second one was more trial and error.

    @bmenrigh I caught on to an even simpler way to find the last number. I’ve noticed that 9/10 times the false gates for the 3rd number land at about exactly one number or the other while the real gate lands halfway before and after a specific number leaving that as the correct last number

  • @lynnlard5531
    @lynnlard5531 Před 5 lety

    Yes, I agree with the consensus ... I've watched several of these "decoding the Master Lock" videos; all are confusing but this series makes more sense than the others, especially after viewing the first two parts over a few times. I would suggest slowing down a little, especially with your hands, in manipulating the opened/dismantled lock in part one. Need a little more time to digest and analyze what I'm seeing.

    • @bmenrigh
      @bmenrigh  Před 4 lety

      The second number can only be about 8 possibilities. You have to try them all. In other words, you brute force the second number based on the information you know about the first and last numbers.

    Still can't get that first number - going past the potential stopping points and coming back, not feeling anything - that whole concept really doesn't seem to be a 'thing' - been playing with it for hours and hours. Pretty sure got the third number as it's the stop point with the most play, by far - but can't get that first number. I'm a very patient person - guess I just don't have the feel for it.

      I have two different locks one of which I know the combo for and I cannot feel anything whatsoever at the spot where I should for the first number, with all different types of tension on the shackle, the weird part is both the old and new one have catch points at the same number in either direction

    • @zoidelux

  • @charlesfarris7566
    @charlesfarris7566 Před 4 lety

    I have the smaller type and finding that first groove was very difficult as it kept locking at ~3 on the dial and I found no appreciable difference between tension between other gaps. After many attempts using 8 or 9 as first #, I realized I wasn't finding that first groove. I ended up having to use the method demo'd on czcams.com/video/J5_NJfJiXXY/video.html to calculate all number of combo's based on the 3rd number and trying every combo until I found it. The larger locks are much easier to decode.

    Has anybody done an Ace combination lock of the same style?

    • @bmenrigh
      @bmenrigh  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I haven't played with that one. If you pull up firmly on the shackle can you keep turning the dial more than just a little bit? If you can there aren't any "false gates" and you may simply be able to pull up and turn around right and left while pulling up and get lucky. So turn the dial around three times clockwise, then pull up firmly on the shackle and keep turning clockwise until you feel the dial catch. Then all while pulling up start turning the dial counter-clockwise at least once around and then stop when you feel a catch. Finally turn back clockwise and the lock may pop open while you're pulling up. This technique works semi-reliably on combo locks that don't have false gates (which is why those false gates are put there in the first place).

    • @EazySteve
      @EazySteve Před 9 měsíci

      @@bmenrigh The dial catches right away while pulling up firmly on the shackle, and I can't find any anomalies when doing the anomaly test. Hope this helps
