Decoding a Master combination lock in two tries!!

  • If the universe aligns correctly, you can decode any (dial) Master Combination lock in 8 tries or less. This video is purely practical and not explanatory. To find out why this works look at the video Samy Kamkar made: • Explanation of crackin...
    There are apps that will do the math for you, but it kind of takes away from the novelty of the trick when you're holding a phone! Use your head, it's fun! I also think it's important to have an idea of "why" this works, if you want reproducible effects.

    Best lock decoding video everrr! Thanks so much for this. After writing everything down per your steps, I got it in 2 combination tries! Thank you!

    I spent an hour and a half trying to find the combination to my lock. I tried five other videos which all gave the same method, which didn't work. Then, this video showed up in the recommended tab. I followed it. My lock is now open and I'm close to tears.
    Thank you Speculater DeLock, you have made me a happy man.

  • @richardmead9785
    @richardmead9785 Před 4 lety +2

    The suggestion to add 6 to the sticking point instead of 5 is the ONLY such suggestion I found, and the only one that worked! I tried several other videos and Samy’s several times with no luck. Also, your description of how to find the “1 of 2” is the only one that worked. You explained it fully with words and the video linked together. My only fault is the description of how to get the two sets of numbers for the “guess”. It was confusing as to the rule used to calculate those numbers. Ultimately I made sure my math was the same as yours, using my “1 of 2” numbers instead of yours and calculating the same increments. Otherwise a very good explanation - had to be, I was able to open the lock!!

    On my masterlock, the two digits between 0 and 9 (for finding the third number) are playing between 1 1/2 - 3 1/2, and 5 1/2 - 7 1/2. this is a gap of two numbers in both cases, not a single number as I've seen in your video. What do i do in that case?

  • @Thatoneguy55sn
    @Thatoneguy55sn Před 7 lety +1

    Dude, fantastic! It worked on my Masterlock Letter Dial lock. It only has 20 letters, so I could replace the letters with the numbers. I had 16 combinations to try (couldn't figure which was the more likely 3rd number/letter). 14th combination worked.

    This is like the tenth video I've watched and probably the best but I still can't get the sticky number correct, the most I can do is get 2-3 hits on a single number out of about 8-10 total, which does not seem statistically promising.

    Watched two videos before this one. The first one I watched worked on two different locks that I had, but would not work on this particular one. The second video gave extremely similar math to this one, but the major difference was that you mention how the sticky number can be offset by 6. That made all the difference in this combo; got it on my third try after sticky+6 instead of sticky+5. Thanks so much!

    I'm trying to get the combo of a lock that a resigned coworker left in her desk and I'll point out that it's a smaller Master lock - not the full-size one and...Yeah...not working out. Sticky number is unambiguously 33 so #1 is 38, the next step yields 2 & 9. 38/4 = 9R2 so I wipe out odd #s - there's only one option among 2, 12, 22, 32 that has R4 (22). So that gives 38, X, 22. Guess figures for 2nd number of combo are; 4, 12, 20, 28, 36, 8, 16, 24, 32, 0/40. Scratch #s 20 and 24 because they're too close to 22...I tried all of these combos...didn't work. Am I missing something?

    It was 0-20-36! I've watching other at least a dozen other videos about going by feel and going by math. The whole thing with the sticky number (35.5ish) and then the clockwise locking up method (36) was tripping me up. And getting on a 4-24 rabbit hole instead of the 16-36 for the third number options.

      I think its because you can't divide an odd number (11 as a possible combination key) by the remainder (2 in this case) and get a whole number. This would likely change if your remainder was 3 for example, because 3, 9, 15, 21, 27, 33, and 39 are odd AND divisible by 3. But also in that case, some of your even #s wouldn't work.
