Personally I do not agree with the way halal meat is killed. I understand that the animals dies regardless but I think their is way too much unnecessary suffering inflicted on the animal. When we kill them, it’s an instant death with a electric bolt to the brain but when Halal meat is killed they’re hung upside down (alive) then they have THEIR THROATS slit and left to die a slow painful death in which they can literally feel the blood draining from their body over their face. It’s evil and disgusting and I make it a point to make sure my meat is NOT halal.

@@acidalex420 100% UNTRUE. According. To BBC: contrary to what many assume, most animals killed by halal methods are stunned before slaughter. FSA estimates suggest that 88% of animals in the UK and US killed by halal methods were stunned beforehand in a way that many Muslims find religiously acceptable.
In many sheep and lambs this is by electronic stunning to the head or in poultry via a water bath electrified with enough power to make them unconscious but not to kill. Another method of stunning that involves cardiac arrest is not allowed under halal rules.
Modern day major halal meat distributors use humane and permissible methods. Do some research before you speak on something next time kiddo. Not to mention the modern farming industry slaughtering practices are far more egregious and inhumane. The animals are offend sick and suffering before being killed half stunned.

If you don't tie the legs, the dark meat cooks better, and you get more crispy skin.
I'd not put anything in the cavity besides flavor - the turkey cooks faster with it open, and the veggies cook better elsewhere.
I use ghee instead of regular butter.
I put the turkey up on a rack instead of down in the pan - better heat and crispier skin.
You want to cook as little as possible, so use a thermometer.
You can rest the turkey in an ice chest/cooler for a couple hours or so.
I rinse turkeys before cooking- gently so as to not splash bacteria.

SEPARATE THE SKIN FROM THE FLESH AND RUB IN BETWEEN WITH BUTTER AND TONS OF SEASONINGS!!!! AND PACK A FEW SLICES OF CITRUS IN THERE!! sorry, I'm not yelling, but i just dont understand why people dont do this. Youre turkey will be dty as anything if you dont cut through the proteins with great flavor!

you can use the neck to make pretty good damn broth. throwing it away seems so wasteful to me, especially because in my house we always make broth on the turkey necks (and the neck meat is actually very good too)
