    Thank you for showing the entire process of lifting all 4 corners ( all the other videos fast forward over jacking up the back ) I wish now I would’ve ordered the stack for the reason you pointed out . I guess I’ll purchase a second jack to raise the front end evenly and then the back end evenly on my Camaro ZL1

    I just built my own, made them in two pieces so that I can really get her up in the air safely. I used two carriage bolts in the top layer of the first wheel crib to lock in the second layer. They only protrude roughly 3/4 inches, but more than enough to lock in that top layer, as the weight of the car is applying pressure downward, not to the sides. Cost me a few hours of time and roughly $100 in lumber, deck screws and carriage bolts. Very happy!

    I have the 2 piece 10inch. It is a good idea to get the long reach jack to get more height , so it isn’t sketchy when getting the car up to the 10-12 inch height. One thing should kept in mind is if doing differential or transmission fluid changes, it might still be a good idea to use the Esco Jack stands because they usually require level ground, some cars with after market suspension heights might not be exactly level

    Have you tried lifting the car from the center of the front / rear so that the load is distributed evenly to 2 cribs at a time? I got a little nervous seeing them slide a little at 6:38 and 6:55

    • @fthirty3
      @fthirty3  Před 3 lety +4

      Yeah, I try to when I can, but my jack isn't low enough to get under to the central jacking point when the cars on the ground. In retrospect, I should have done that when I added the second stack.

    Great video, thank you. I had already purchased the single 12” cribs but planned on using two floor jacks at once to raise each end. First, raise the front all at once then the back. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @fthirty3

      That would absolutely work 👍

    • @michaelwright1602
      @michaelwright1602 Před 2 lety +1

      I built my own cribs, and ran into that issue with my old Buick, so I ran up to Home Depot and bought another 3 Ton Husky jack. Made getting the car up in the air incredibly easy, and safely. I would highly recommend you use two jacks, that way you can really get her up if need be, and do it safely.

  • @rockmusicvideoreviewer896

    Would it make sense to get 1 pair that are a solid 10" and another pair that are adjustable 10"? So when using them, first start with 1/2 height on one side, then full height on the other side, then add the remaining 1/2 on the 1st side. This way, the car is never more of an angle in elevation that when using 2 pairs of adjustables. Also, I am very skinny so I think 10" will be fine for me.

    • @fthirty3
      @fthirty3  Před 2 lety +1

      10's would work too. i just wanted as much clearance as possible so that i could do exhaust work, etc easily. using the front and rear center jacking points is a good option as well and what i should have done in the video. i just didn't have a jack that was low profile to be able to fit far enough under the car.

    "I would never be able to get this clearance with just jack stands". 7:35
    If you look at the specifications for some ratcheting jack stands you should be able to see the min/max height, and find some pretty reasonably priced ones that go from 15 - 24 inch (which is both lower and higher than 12" from the bottom of the tire), they just aren't the entry level or lowest weight capacity ones.
    I don't see why you would use this unless you had a car with special shaped jack points that don't work with normal jack stands, but you might be able to find specially shaped jack stand pads anyway.
    This wouldn't work too well for a brake job or tire rotation as well.

  • @pandorakid229
    @pandorakid229 Před rokem +1

    then, what do you do for tire rotations?

    • @fthirty3

    • @fthirty3
      @fthirty3  Před 3 lety +4

      Great question. No issues just using them in the front. I use a jack I got from harbor freight. I wish I would have gotten the low profile long reach one though.

      @stuckinamomentt Před 3 lety +1

      @@fthirty3 Thanks. How is the low profile one beneficial? Newbie here and dont want to end up buying a bad fit for the job. I saw in some other videos that certain types (sizes?) of jacks might not be able to lift the car as high as 12 inches?

    • @fthirty3
      @fthirty3  Před 3 lety +2

      @@stuckinamomentt Getting a low profile jack is helpful when your car sits low to the ground. i sometimes have trouble getting the jack i have under the car to the central jacking points because it's not a low profile jack. i just have to be a little more creative when jacking up the car. :)

It's annoying and the just skip over it, especially if they are repeat viewers of your channel, even if the intro looks super cool. People have articles on how bad an idea to have intro are. It's not TV. It's YT, where people can easily skip over it or even leave your channel. Look at your YT channels analytics and you will see how your audience retention drops during the intro.
