HOW FAST is the EFlite HABU and F14 Tomcat?

- Both of these EDF Jets are small and portable and a blast to fly. Beginners will love the HABU 50mm, but beginners should avoid the F14 Tomcat.

The Tomcat is awesome!!! You should fashion a tail hook and arresting cable or even a chute mounted where the tail hook would be. Great video!!
Very interesting test about these models’ speed. But something that many RC pilots forget is that these models are in a smaller scale than the real aircrafts and so, the spaces that they travel are bigger in proportion to the real planes. In other words, if the Tomcat in real life is 26 times bigger than the Eflite model, the speed of the model should be 26 smaller in relation to the plane. That means that this Eflite model flew at 3640 km/h into scale! That is even faster than the max speed of the real Tomcat (2485 km/h)!
But it was an excellent and interesting video comparing two awesome models. Thanks 👍🔥😁
Great review for someone that's waiting for the right RC Plane. That TomCat was great to watch it flyover, but the landing would be 100% me. But it was great to see you get it fixed so quickly. That Habu is really tempting and it was faster than I thought! If you ever get bored I'd love to see the best Steve Crashes Compilation, lol becz that one was very funny. I'm from Michigan and there was an airshow where a Russian Mig went down and that is one thing that is hard to describe so I have to thank for your harmless one.
Great video - wonderful edits!
I never realized how useful it is to fly around an oval track; easy to stay lined up and it’s a built-in landing pattern.
Thanks for helping me to realize something so obvious that I’ve apparently missed for years!
Fun video ! 😃
Great comparison.
Glad to see you can actually repair these planes!
I could laugh at your "It takes forever to get it up" line but that would be childish😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Excellent Video. Nice RC Planes. Thank You Steve.
I guess the pilots couldn't eject on time? 😂😂😂
They are awesome looking jets Steve. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
Great video nice review
Well presented. Wonderful flights
Great content!
awsome video Steve
Another good test video Steve.
you of all people it's crashed, it's crashed. both look good to fly and scary knowing me i would smash them both to bit's great review again Captain
Nice save Steve that was headed for your Jeep
Enjoyed the head to head comparison.
I’ve got the Habu 50 and I have to say that it is a great jet. Do get it high to test stall speed. You will be surprised as to just how low the stall speed is. I landed the first few times too fast and wound up bouncing it into a stall that caused crashes. Practice at altitude until you get used to it. It really is a great little jet. I fly mine on an 1800 mah pack as the nose has gotten heavier due to repairs.
Hi Steve. Great video. The F14 was impressive.......👍
Have a good week
They sound good
Ok Captain!!!!; I take back my last comment "stay away from knives" (regards your legs!!); stay away from the Tomcat !!!!!; I thought we were going to see the first "leg look" (as distinct from hand!) when you were coming into land!!!; aside, crazy fast plane; the Habu looked a lot more "newbie friendly" !!!!!
Good comparison, but I have to say that the F-14 is easy to fly and land if you have some jet experience and you don’t cut throttle like a noob. Fly it down with 10-15% throttle cutting it as you touch down and you will be good to go 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Fun video! 👍👍
the f14 is great but i'm sure i'd end up doctoring it to try and make ailerons happen - it is a lot smaller than i first thought and the sticker on the rear isnt quite flush - lamp posts area is a bit of an extra challenge and the jeep, i would have probably aimed for under the car but it is a gamble (especially without ailerons)
Cool jets
So cool 🤝😎
Awesome.
I like the Habu
Definitely lawn dart mode, Too bad we cant have rudders and retracts at that size. Still like flying it as it. So far only had the wings get knocked from a hard landing once so far.😎👍
Sorry about the break
Great video! I also learned around the time the habu and as3x were just coming out. I still have the umx beast 3D. As for these 2 birds, I sold the F14 and still have the 50mm habu. I was belly landing the F14 and was tired of fixing the wings almost every time, also personally felt it was a dog in the air. The 50mm habu is much better in my opinion. Anyways great comparison video!
I would agree with you
Add a parachute😂 I’m a drone user I wanna start flying planes it seems fun
The go "pro" camera is so sad. Wish you and others used real cams with none fisheyelens. But nice video as allways👍
The Tomcat seems to be a difficult beast with a kamikaze pilot, not you Steve 😊👍
Even pros crash the tomcat, I really wish it had a 5th channel for spoilers or somethin to slow it down lmaooo
Hey Captain drone how are you doing my friend.
I have a Habu ss super sport 70mm, my first EDF jet have never flown it yet. I was wondering what you would recommend for battery size.
I don’t know whether to go with 4s or 6s and also not sure how many MAH I should go..
I’d appreciate your recommendation ..
Thanks CD..
It will run on 4s, but with limited power. 6s is best. You can go as low as a 6s 3200 mAh battery (good for beginners as it is less weight). Hope this is not your first plane as the flight will not end well. If this is your second plane & you have some RC plane experience then all should go well, except for the landing because…. All Habu’s (even the SS) float. This means you need to shut the throttle off when it flies overhead, and then control it as it flies away from you, then in a turn to do a 180 and line up for the runway and continue to glide down. If you force it down by giving down elevator, it will pickup speed and then bounce on the runway and often flip on its side. Do many practice approaches & you’ll be fine.
Nice video. Maybe get a guy with a camcorder to take video of the whole planes in flight.
Forgive me, but what is edf? Just started watching.
EDF stands for Electric Ducted Fan. You have electric Prop planes, you have electric EDF Jets and you have gas prop planes and turbined gas powered jets.
If one got a PNP version and a TBS PWM receiver, could one fly a plane with a Tango 2 controller?
It is very possible
I fly homemade at about 150 km/h
Is frsky enough for a tinywhoop(betafpv meteor 75 pro)
What do you mean.... Is it enough? If you mean as a RECEIVER, then it is fine.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 i mean if I can fly my tinywhoop behind some Walls without loseing the conection to the drone.
@@stefanebner2673 Yes, should not be a problem if you are not too far away
For speed in a micro size, the fastest i have flown is called an electrolyte. 100mph+ using a tiny 40mm edf. Hard to find these days, but for anyone interested:
czcams.com/video/guNHHoIwyrM/video.html
Will the Habu take off from the grass ?
Golf course grass, yes
I am disappointed. Not only was the one flown on 3s and the other 4S but the overall voltage count wasn't even close. with half the voltage it is hamstringed enough that i would say the habu may have been even faster not to mention if they were both 4S's.
So if I understand you correctly you are saying that you are a happy HABU 50mm owner and not an F14 Tomcat owner?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 no don’t own but have flown. I do have the f15 eflight. I wanted an f14 but the amount of control surfaces they sacrificed for the adjustable wings, I would have found a way to make it work even if it had to be more expensive. Also the f14 is known for its power. It looks cool, but thrust is lacking and control is lacking. Especially on landing where u use the rudder more and no flaps.
@@byte2600 Out of the two planes, I prefer the Habu 50mm since it is simple in design, flies well & is a perfect hand launch plane (also easily repairable in the event of a crash).
You skipped over the only thing released in the last 6 months I was interested in, explicitly stating that you were never going to review it. Why should I be interested in these?
I’m not a millionaire… I have a small budge for new products.
Run the habu on 4s it's insane...
