Goku's journey to steal almost every technique he's ever seen begins.
He didn't steal anything he learnt it from the best of men and he perfected it he uses it better then roshi ever could kaioken and spirit bomb is also gokus techniques before you say some stup*d sh*t like he stole it from king kai
He didn't steal it king kai taught him there's a difference if you say solar flare then everybody steal that technique not only goku

Goku learns techniques
It’s still using other people’s techniques he did steal solar flare and then apologized but he does. He hasn’t developed his own from scratch Vegeta and Piccolo have. Final Flash, Big Bang Attack, Special Beam Cannon.

@@kuraikagemike Masenko is a Piccolo move that Gohan learned during his training in Saiyan Arc... If he did create the move that would be impressive considering he was somewhere between four and five when he learned the technique....
It's kinda like how Vegeta learned to sense life energy. Once he learned you could do it he decided he'll do it

In the manga, Roshi ask to grope Bulma boobs, that's why he does not want Chichi to know. Goku is like, thats no problem at all. Bulma actually use Oolong to have him groped instead, but he kinda goes overboard with it, instead he insist to put Roshi head between the boobs which Roshi was not even asking for. Roshi sure got much more than he wanted
In the jappaness version he ask the same but the dub change it
there’s a movie kaiju called Gamera who’s a giant black turtle. he can fly by shooting fire out of his limb holes. he’s actually an icon, but Godzilla (who he was invented to compete with) is more well known. you actually saw baby gamera once before, in the TFS Yamcha dragon short
A lot of the dialogue was censored in this episode: when roshi talks about his “stroll” with bulma he’s actually referring to getting a grope of bulma’s boobs. So now rewatch the episode with that in mind lol.
Also, before roshi got hit by chichi talking to himself in the background he was actually repeating to himself that chichi means dad, but it also means boobs/breasts. 😅
Kinda reminds me of DBZ Kai's dub.

The turtle Rishi is riding is a huge reference to Gamera. You should look him up. 9:58 remember he's a Saiyan. They pick up on things pretty quick

To extinguish fire sometimes we use explosion. The explosion displace oxygen and the force can push other combustible materials away, depriving it of the fuel it needs to continue burning. It can also cause a sudden drop in temperature.
I think Saiyan's in general have the power to mimic abilities after seeing it used once.
Goku saw the Kamehameha used by Roshi, then used it in this episode. Then in DBZ (not talking about Dragon Ball), Vegeta saw the Destructo Disk used by Krillin, then used it. Vegeta learnt how to sense energy by seeing the Earthlings do it. Gohan didn't use the Kamehameha in the series until he saw Goku's fight with Cell, so maybe that was his first time using it (He could've learnt the Kamehameha from Goku in the time chamber, tho). Gotenks mimics Super Buu's ability to scream holes in dimensions. In the DBZ Return of Son Goku and Friends OVA, Gotenks also mimicked Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist and Tien's Volleyball attack. Saiyan's are a warrior race, so maybe mimicry is a natural Saiyan ability, like the Zenkai boost? 🤷♂
Not sure if it's officially stated, but its definitely the most likely as your list suggests.
I would add it's possible Gohan was taught the Kamehameha Wave while training with his dad. Though I will agree the Cell fight might've still been his first time using the technique.
"No! That's impossible! The only one who knows that technique is Goku!... And Gohan... And Master Roshi... And Krillin?... And Yamcha, and me that one time I tried it just to see if I could." (Piccolo, DBZA, 43).

This is the first ever episode I saw of the franchise back in 1995 (the old dub with the OG VAs). I was hooked instantly.
It's amazing how much mainstay lore we get in these early episodes. Toriyama, regardless of his writing style, is still a genius.
Now you understand why some people hate what they did to Chi Chi in Z. She was such a badass in OG DB.
I wouldn't say she was a badass but more so she had a lot of potential as a fighter and as a main character part of the cast, still sad how Toriyama turned every interesting female fighter into a house wife 😔 glad he's finally now moving from those tropes but man it was rough
Actually Moonlight stroll around the island is Dub only. In Japanese it's kissing and even pafu-pafu, which is snuggling his head between her breasts. So the movement Oolong made with his hands wasn't just heart beating booboom booboom. Same thing during Boo saga that Goku suggested to Elder Kai. No wonder Gohan that mad over Goku offering Videl.
In the original translation, Roshi wanted to play with Bulma's boobs. They obviously censured it.
And what he originally did with Oolong is.. well.. borderline pornographic. 😂

Would be great, but we never get to see it. We get a flashback of his youth but he doesn't take training seriously, more peeking on girls.

But a training including forced diet at not being able to do perverse things makes him stronger than Frieza and full power first SSJ Goku? Sorry, I refuse to count that. Even if canon. That's an insult to Mutaito (Roshi's master) memory.
@@embran8486 That was specialized training for his vices but he stated he had started training again way b4 tht. Also Roshi passed Master Mutaito also by becoming able to to use Evil containment wave more. If using it once was enough to kill him and his master back then, and now he can use it multiple times.

This technically makes Roshi the first character in the show to transform; in terms of fighting I mean, not shape changing like Puaar and Oolong. Granted, he's just bulking up, but how many character's have done that as part of their transformations? Cell even mocked Trunks with it at the end of their fight; like he said "That form isn't new".
Goku kinda, before be beat the Crap out of Nappa? Mostly just from the Inside, because he was already jacked.

Goku's saiyan biology makes it easy for him to learn fighting techniques including energy based ones. Even low levels saiyans could use energy attacks without the need for blasters like many of Frieza's men

Goku's first Kamehameha was only moments after seeing Roshi's, but Goku's was also the size of a super soaker's spray. Grandpa Gohan taught him the basics, but Goku still has a long way to go.
Goku might not be the most book smart person, but he is a genius at martial arts, so he can learn at a faster pace compared to other disciples. Since all he's learned to do is fight and hunt, it makes sense for him to be a fast learner in fighting.
Goku (also every saiyan) can copy every attack after seeing/experiencing once.

Goku learnt the kamehameha cos he's a genius. He only has to see a technique once and he can mimic it if he wants. Also, the same skill doesn't work twice on Goku. It's just one of his many attributes

The negotiation with Roshi in the Japanese version is so much worse the whole series is much less censored and more adult
also to clear it up the dub of Dragonball had to tone down Roshi's pervert nature. In the original Japanese version Roshi wanted to touch Bulma's chest and Oolong gave him a pafu pafu basically letting him bury his face in his/her chest

Explosions are viable for extinguishing large fires, eats up all the oxygen so the fire goes out.
Of course firefighters tend to not try this on residential areas for obvious reasons.
Goku though not "traditionally smart" when it comes to combat he is a genius since the beginning Goku learns in the middle of combat.

I really hate when it's called the Kamehameha Wave. It's redundant. In Japanese, the technique is written as かめはめ波. If you hadn't guessed, the last character means wave.
On that note, I hate Master Roshi, too, because "roushi" literally means "old master."
Roshi's second Turtle Gamala is a reference to the Kaiju Gamera the Giant turtle that spins to fly and eats fire. He's also a friend of all children. Deathbattle did a vs match with Godzillia. As I commented in an earlier video Toriyama is huge movie buff.

I watched both the subtitled version and the dub...
"A romantic stroll around the island" LOL Boy they really censored this, if you want to see what he really said, turn on the japanese track.
oh my gosh. The translation is so bad. That's the scene where Chichi asked Goku to marry her and he accepted thinking it was about food. But they changed to thinking about each others.
It cant put out fires but if there is nothing for the fire to burn there is no fire.
No we won’t see Chi Chi at the tournament but we will see her a few more times but she remains a side character until the end of the show.

Chichi, in Japanese can mean ”milk" or ”nipple", but Chichi (written with different kanji) means "father" instead...
When Roshi found out that her father was Ox King, he said something like:
Chichi's Chichi(father) is Ox King, but that makes Chichi her chichi's (father's) Chichi. And Chichi's Chichi (nipples) her Chichi's (father's) Chichi's (her) chichi(nipples)
That's the part where he was mumbling to himself...

The fan made of a palm leaf is called "banshou" with a "sh"...
- However, there are many other words in Japanese that are phonetically identical to "banshou"...
- 万象: all of creation
- 万障: all obstacles
- 晚照: sunset
- 蕃椒: pepper
If you're fluent in Japanese (I'm not), these words can be distinguish from one another by their spelling (kanji), intonation (stressing different parts of the word), or context... (the same way you distinguish between there, their, they're, or meet/meat) *but Japanese has many, many more phonetically identical words than English does... (there are only 16 syllables in Japanese and thousands of kanji)
* Also each Kanji can have multiple readings...
For example, 中
- can be read as chuu, juu, naka, or uchi
And can mean tags: in, inside, middle, or center
- It's also the first kanji in the Japanese word for China (中国, chuugoku) *the second kanji means country...
