I am very happy that they are putting so much work into the NPCs. FINALLY someone realized how important that is. The only other game I known to have done this kind of system well is Ultima 7 (released in 1992 btw). Other games like Skyrim just don't have as detailed NPC schedules.
I'm now seriously thinking about buying this game when it comes out :)

this is going to be a game changer like cod 4 was for multiplayer but this is like everything combat,ai,horse,big,battle,crafting. I think alot of game company are going to learn a thing or two on how to make a next gen game from this game

How was CoD4 a game changer for multiplayer except for being exceptionally dumb?
MacX1985 exactly nearly every multiplayer shooter in the last few years (even Battlefield; sorry Fanboys :D) has adpted that system ;)
Leveling, XP and customization was standard in RPGs years before that and is a rather dumb recipe for shooters.
Fast Food and coke also work. Doesn't mean it's good for you ;P

The people that are involved in this project have worked with games like Crysis, Arma and Mafia....so it is certainly people that have the ''know how'' to pull something like this off.
Warhorse should really let this Peter get some sleep from time to time. lol

This looked great, love how the npc's/wildlife interact and go about their lives.
Really makes the world feel alive and not like your usual "static" npc's that just stand around waiting for the all mighty player to interact with them.

What sold me was two sentences, "We treat the player like an NPC." and "We don't want them to be the center of the universe."
Me too! Too many games give the player special treatment, an example of what i mean is like how you are only a private in Call of Duty but all the soldiers follow you and you have to do everything. I want a game that puts you in the shoes of an nameless soldier of an army of thousands and this game looks like it will.

hubbabubbly Things are only impossible until they're not. A living breathing world for multiple players is only limited by the server hardware and bandwidth running the AI.
hubbabubbly You don't simulate it twice. You simulate it once and only send the client computers the information they need. What an NPC 2 km away does isn't relevant to the player, so it isn't sent to the players who are too far away. You could further save bandwidth by pre-scripting a lot of actions and only sending changes to the NPC's pre-scripted actions to clients. Finally, you could save even more bandwidth by having the client simulate more precise actions (like pathing and reactions to players) when there are no other players in the region.
hubbabubbly I don't see why they couldn't just release a way for people to host their own servers. Even two player co-op would be cool, especially if they did it like saints row or borderlands where they can just drop into your game with their character at any time.

I think the reason they have terrible graphics is because of cost and the audience. MMOs, have to be able to run on just about any spec from the ultra-low to the high end, so they tend to optimize for lower end, afaik. I would also imagine that since MMOs are massive investments, they really dont want to spend more than they need to, most mmo players (i'd think) aren't looking for graphical fidelity rather they're in it for the social experience. And as yorzaro said, its all handled client side, servers are pretty much sending the equivalent of gps co-ordinates and actions.
Man I love how these guys are so open about the development.
This was perhaps the most impressive video update yet. Very excited for this game. What a fantastic team Warhorse is for being so open.

I hope that the NPC will not take their tools of their pockets as he does when the farmer go to the garden, but as he did when he goes fishing. The farmer takes the cane on a rack.

RedJay You are right, I just checked wikipedia and exactly like you said. There was a Brown Bear. And they still say it occassionally reaches Czech territory from east.
Same thing with wolves and lynx, although these (especially the latter) are slowly returning. So yeah, plenty of dangerous animals in the medieval Bohemia.

I hope that the animations will be better in the full version, because I'm really excited about this game.
I love this game more with every updated. That any publisher passed on this is just indicative of how out of touch publishers are, especially with the RPG crowd. You only have to glance at the sort of immersion/realism mods are out there for Skyrim and the like to realize this.
I'm interested in knowing if there are survival systems.. disease, hunger, exhaustion, etc..
We actualy know that there will be a hunger systhem implemented in the game. But i think they said nothing more how it exactly works...

Developers these days don't like to take any sort of risk. If they think they won't reach as many people as possible, often they won't fund a project, but these guys had the right idea to show them by crowd funding. Now, we'll even get extra features due to stretch goals reached.

Warhorse Studios My friend just tipped me off about this game and I just want to say I think it looks gorgeous and it seems from all appearances to be anything I've ever wanted in a medieval game. I love that period of history and it's great to see a game that's trying to stick to it.

You know on a macro scale they have NAILED the NPCs, they really feel alive, the only issues is that on a lower level they aren’t so great, eg if you walk towards them the won’t try and move out of the way and the guards will tell you off for not having a light when you’re in a pub and wouldn’t need one. But they’re some of the best npcs I’ve seen regardless

If only any Game would look as stunning as this masterpiece I would be very happy. Even Far Cry 4 seems to have mediocre graphics compared to this. The way you work with vegetation and e.g. realistic height of trees is just priceless.

This is so impressive how you manage to make things look so natural and authentic. I cant wait to play this game.
PS: Don't forget to give every single NPC in the world his/her *own name*! This can be done with a simple (randomized) command and adds a lot to the immersion factor! Making farmer 1,2,3 etc less generic.

Tohle hra se určitě zapíše do žebříčku nejlepších her na světě. Všechny Video Updaty vypadají skvěle. Je těžké popsat jak se na tuhle hru těším, ta představa že místo draků tam budou slepice je super :) Možností v RPGčku musí být spousta což doufám že to vývojáři ''promakají'' do puntíku, už teď to vypadá skvěle. Rozhodně jsi tuto hru koupím/podpořím. Na téhle hře už v podstatě nejde nic zkazit :) Jsem hrdý že máme v České Republice tak šikovné vývojáře :3 Přeji vývojářům ať se daří.
