I love how he is completely honest "Well, mounted combat is not as good as we planne,d here is why". No sugarcoating or trying to lie about it. Respect!
transparancy in game development goes a long way
you know, not like ubisoft, gearbox or hello games who keep continuously lying about their game to generate hype and then take the money and run
Or EA who jut don't even care no more. :D
I have yet to see them lie through their teeth and implement self destruction economic policies, but if you say so :D
χρονης κ. their free trade doesnt suck.
explain?
The ability of a developer to say no to a poorly made feature of its software is *worthy of respect*.
Stranger Happened he made one of the best game ever Mafia the city of lost heaven and i hope he made another good gangster game in the future
It's nice having a dev tell you ahead of time about cut features instead of just hiding it until release
Amen. I just started following the game but it's so refreshing seeing more transparency in development. I can get behind this trend, here's hoping the game is a success for Warhorse Studios. It's very rare to find someone as humble and understanding as Daniel Vavra.
Hey Mal, when can we expect second season?
8Paul7 Whenever Fox pulls their heads out of their asses and gives us the unedited original Star Wars too.
Malcolm Reynolds Get the despecialized versions.
QuadWrestlingFan92 I have those, but I'd rather have a legal, non-fanmade version. The special editions wouldn't be so bad if we had the original cuts. The Holiday Special should be wiped from existence before the 77 cut of Star Wars.
See Bethesda? Polearms. It can be done.
MC Ride Negga why did they remove them in skyrim though?
polearms were added by mods,as were throwing weapons. bethesda feeds us crap and we eat them up, they do not have to take risks anymore to get attention
I loled
one game what really works out with Polearms, spears and pike is Mount and blades Warband
Polearms have been done long before in other games. Current example that comes to mind is Conan Exiles, and I think mount and blade has them also.
'And we wrote it faster' *cheesy look*
I'm dead. 😂

It made my day 😂
holy shit already way beyond my expectations of when i saw the kickstarter trailer
Thank you :)

I love how open you guys are about everything along the process. Todd Howard could learn a thing or two
You don't understand, Todd Howard's games *just work*, no need for being open ;)
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies...
Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies...LOL!
Nihilore - Royalty Free Music Todd Howard is still awesome though. I love TES. Epic games.
Ascendant I think *personally* he would be a great guy. However, he’s in a business that requires him to build the hype- and said hype is usually built on BS in this industry.
See, this is why I love you guys. EA or another greedy publisher would have put that useless dog companion into the game, or some rushed broken blacksmithing mini game. You don't, at the risk of bad PR from spoiled brats, because you care about quality and strive to create a grand experience.
Looking forward to playing this, and hoping that the stuff that didn't make it now will come in the future as part of some kind of (paid) extension.
Thank you :)
Its sad how many people jack off these guys for making an honestly mediocre RPG.
@@connorbranscombe6819 “mediocre RPG” holy shit have you even played the game?
@@Timurisoverhere Yeah I have, it’s fuckin dog water lmao.
@@connorbranscombe6819 What games would you say are better rpgs?
Looks fantastic. I am fine without the dog, I never use them in games that have them anyway. I just hope you guys will do some good marketing campaign so the game will sell gangbusters.
They just need it release it properly polished, word will spread via social sites, etc.. :)
^^ True
Dear Sir, your profile pic is fantastic. Long live to Deus Ex ! Hoping that KCD will get the deserved popularity.
Deus Ex is ace. Right now playing Mankind Divided and it is also great, very pleasant surprise. And cannot wait for KCD, I expect it will have some design philosophy similarities to DX as well.
Man this game is looking awesome. I can’t wait to get a close up look at some of the cities and of course the CASTLES. Also I'd take polearms in combat over blacksmithing any day.
hi shade I watch your videos when is your next skyrim city video going to be? whiterun was really interesting to watch
they are basically all realistic in this one Shady
Shad, can you make a video about this game like the one you did with for honor. I would really love to see all your thoughts on this game.
Shadiversity Shad, great to see you here! I can't wait for this game. Pretty sure I'll stick to the thief archetype :)
Shadiversity there is a beta to play
In Warhorse Studios We Trust. In Kingdom Come We Believe.™
Make sure that you Czech for new bugs while you're Polishing :D

Thracian Tendency :(
Check the soundtrack in the description!
Is it too late to get my face painted in the church? How much would it cost?
It's too late, and it cost over 1200 pounds.
Yes it is too late indeed, sorry. :(
Warhorse Studios Do you think in the dlc will be a dog companyen ?? and the black Smith or is it out for ever :.(
sorry for my bad English
Man, it's SO refreshing listening to a dev without any PR bullshit talk, just what happened during development and how things are shaping up. Also, looking GOOD.
When your initial campaign started, I fell in love HARD! I dropped more money in KC: D than any other kickstarter I've backed. You've brought my love for the medieval era to life that no one has done before. You inspired the true meaning of Medieval to life into an experience like non-other. I love KC: D and if I had more money, I buy everything from you!!! I appreciate your hard work and dedication to this game and it backers!
Keep up the amazing work, I'm proud of you!
Thank you for your support :)
You have my support!
I'm looking forward to a series starting with Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Really hope you guys are in for the long run and make more games like this one!
These kind of videos really make you have a new kind of appreciation for game design imo. People take so much for granted these days and whine about every single thing, without realizing how difficult and time consuming it is to create this stuff. Game seems to be coming along really nicely, good job guys!
Indeed. Gamedev is insanely hard, especially when trying to innovate and push the envelope instead of just copy pasting.
I think i can say that we the gamers can wait another year for this game just get it right no need to rush it
BlackArt Goon agree
BlackArt Goon agree! (backer)
That would be possible if the team were not dependent on their investor to keep the lights on.
Agreed (backer too)
(Most) gamers probably can, Warhorse most likely can't
i wish there were more devs like this
It's kinda tradition for Czech devs to be open about game development. Eg.: Mafia 1, arma 2,3, dayz, Factorio
It's shocking when indie games do something things better than other major companies. Book reading compared to Bethesda for example is so much better. Finally there's a reason to sit in a damn chair while time flows naturally.
aha, my sentiments exactly.
It's not really an indie game
---UltimateGuyOfAwesomeness--- Well it didn't came from a major company.
I'm currently researching cost of living in different countries/cities. Prague is really cheap compared to American or Canadian or Western European cities.
In other words, developers in Warhorse Studios would spend their salary twice (or even three times) more efficient than their American counterparts.
Let's add more factors that contribute to Vavra's studio advantage:
- much better cultural and overall cohesion of their team, compared to big companies
- honesty and transparency of the development
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance is obviously not just a commercial game project, but something of much bigger cultural significance than average AAA game
All these factors make the development crazy efficient and devs are working towards bigger common goal. I really hope that they will continue making games after releasing this one, they could be on similar scale as CD Projekt Red, but based in Czech Republic.
Dave Flynn Until a bigger company buys them.
Ok you're right but if you choose a country with low cost of living, then the income salary will be lower too.
By the way i hope so. If they keep getting bigger they may end up like Bioware, a big development studio.
so, the alchemical/potion books are totally based on real life plants and real life remedies ? i cant wait to get this game. been waiting for something like this for a long time.
stalkerlohh have you played the beta yet? its awesome even the potion against the shits actually uses char coal xD (in real life active coal is used against mild food poisoning and such)
no i have not and will not. i want it to be pure as an experience as be. except these dev. videos.
so is it totally real, and can i make potions in real life with those books ? ( i would not, but still, cool to know if it can be done )
thanks for your input.
stalkerlohh np. mate :) i just HAD to play it and...50 € were ok for me even for the buggy beta.
well im no expert on natural potions but some of the ingredients were actually used exactly for the things they are used for in game...but instead of regaining health the actual plant (at example) increased the bloodproduction
stalkerlohh and coal (at example) absorbs poisons
marc klimke take couple of coal pills before going to drinking some alcohol. it should help as iv heard, but not tested it myself :D
So glad to get another update video. These are the best
That soundtrack is amazing.
Thank you very much! :-)
Loved everything !
The smithing part is a heart breaker. But you tried your best man. Absolutly understandable.
It might be interesting to add this feature as a small DLC. You know for like few bucks. Add few quests to it and let people forge some special or just tuned standard weapons. I would definitely buy this DLC with the game.
EDIT: Same with the "pet" feature. I like when there is a lot of cheap DLCs to a game.
Prsk I'd def pay fam.
I love how transparent you guys are about the process, its great to see!
"And we wrote it faster ;^)" You are my heroes
Well you can add blacksmithing as a dlc later on right.
I hate DLCs, but I would buy more than one from this guy
SebasCapo I love well made and fair DLC's.
Kongo I haven't seen one in a long time tbh
SebasCapo
The Witcher 3 DLC's were absolutely great.
Warhorse seems to care about the quality of their content rather than just putting something in their game. That's why they decided to not to include the dog companies too. So I expect their dlc to be very good.
Whelp.. This video helped me seal the deal on the deluxe edition.. I'm $150 lighter now but that deluxe edition looks too damn good to miss out on! :)
I love the honesty in these video updates as well, thank you for being a proper and transparent gaming company, also this game looks like it's going to really awesome
Nice one mate, totally agreed.
i miss't it and i'm sad :(
I fucking swear this game has to be like, game of the decade when it's released, the amount of work, effort and dedication that has been put into it it's just huge.
Keep up the good work, you have come far. :)
Silen agreed! god bless
Hey there, been a long time. :P
God bless you too my friend!
2: 29 "But don't be sad, we will release them in a DLC," *Breathes in hard* "That's going to be free for the backers." *Breathes out softly*
honesty about features not making the cut is refreshing and very much appreciated. nice work.
ahahhahagahga i saw what You did there 2:10 hodor
Yep, leave it to the artists to make fun of the sign, but still keep the door open all the time.
Lance Leander L. Cembrano state that it is your personal opinion or you will eventually get hate. Got is an awesome saga, both for the books and for the tv series.
If you think about it. Dan looks sort of like Hodor :-)
i hope blacksmithing will be a DLC or something
Oh my god I missed this update for a week! That is just incredible work Warhorse Studios. I literally got goosebumps throughout and I can't wait for the day the game is out so I can start recording cinematic and gameplay videos. Respect from me and keep up the amazing work guys! _0_ -0- _0_
Thank you, really appreciate your support :)
Dude i see your comment on everything i watch, we are the same person. Love your videos btw
Just 11 hours left. Of course you’ve been waiting for a year but just saying
Thank you for being so transparent and giving us glimpses of game development!
This and bannerlord... im not gonna take off my armor whole next year.
I'm glad you're being honest about the game and how it's coming up together. Definetely looking forward to this!
Thank you :)
Beautiful, this is literally unheard of in today's video game industry, and that is honesty. He gave an honest overview of the progress instead of hiding the details until release like the vast majority of the game companies do today.
"Blacksmithing. There was no chance that we would be able to deliver it, so unfortunately it had to go."
See, Sean Murray? It's not hard.
Every time after watching one of these update videos, I am incredibly happy to have backed this game - the progress is stunning, the music sounds absolutely great, the actors performing the cutscenes look more than promising and holy shit, the weapons :D
Well done, Warhorse. Take your time and do this game right, because I'm pretty sure, it will set new standards ;)
Thank you, hope to see some videos from you in the future about kingdom come deliverance again.
Warhorse Studios As soon as the game is out, there will be a Let's Play, naturally ;) (and if there's any other update in between, I'm sure as hell covering that too ;))
As usual, enthusiastic and informative. Looking forward to this game with great anticipation.
Thank you guys so much for your honesty. It's 100 times better to hear about what couldn't be implemented beforehand rather than be disappointed upon release. Extremely looking forward to this game, thanks for your dedication to the fans!
i have total respect for this guys. no lies no bs a lot of work, solid people
Great job! Looks amazing so far!
The Witcher Special Edition in the background!
I admire you guys' honesty, and not trying to overhype the game or promise features that won't be there (looking at you Sean Murray).
I've been following the progress of this game for years, and I've got to say that I can't wait to play it. I tell my friends and coworkers about it every time I get a chance.
My PC is ready for this... please don't forget ultrawide resolutions.
This blew me away. So glad I backed this, and looking forward to this a lot. I truly appreciate the effort your studio has put into this work of art.
this will be the next Witcher. Hope this game will be a huge success
Великолепно! Самая ожидаемая игра, надеюсь всё так и будет, как рассказано в видео.
was here since the very beginning. incredible how far u have come! Im so exceitedited about it
I'm more hyped up looking at this than I would be by any 2-5 minute teaser video.
Just a guy giving an honest explanation about the current developement is enough for me.
Piracy in Serbia is pretty much the norm, i am sure the problem will be addressed when we enter the EU in some 25-30 years.
But this game i will buy, i don't care how much it costs here i will start saving now but i will fucking buy it. Just like The Witcher 3 it took me 5 months to save up enough money but i bought it and i could not be happier.
Respect, slavic brother. I hope KCD is as successful as Witcher so we can have two prime RPG AAA studios in slavic part of Europe.
8Paul7 Vavra knows what he is doing, i have faith in him. The game will be good, but will it sell good? I hope it will so they can continue making games. Who knows maybe one of their games will be set in the medieval Balkans.
I don't see the link between the EU and cracking a game... It is common everywhere, even in the EU and I'm from Belgium and lived 5 years in France. The only thing that counters it, is a great Dev team like they are, or like CDProjekt, where you actually are glad to give them your money for the sincere effort they are putting in, in the hope of future games.
Piracy is common, yes but is Serbia there are absolutely no regulations against it, i am guessing that will be one of the conditions to join the EU. While you won't find street vendors who sell bootleg content like in China no one cares what you do online, as long as it's not child porn or how to build a bomb you can download anything. Music, games, films...
In Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland etc. it's the same. I don't think it's required to enter the EU... But anyway, stay away of the EU, it's useless and just pumps money from the people for unneeded projects :)
Props for being straight and honest! Telling us features that they wanted to add, talked about then realised it wouldnt work. Telling us why it wouldnt work and how hard it was to realise it wouldnt work. Thank you for that honesty, Even though it may seem like a dissapointment to you its a relief for us players to know what couldnt make it to the game and why. Instead of us buying it and realising features we expected arent there. This honesty makes you more trustworthy as developers :)
Damn the man likes his whiskey. I'm sold! On a serious note, massive kudos for the honesty and transparency in these dev vlogs, quite refreshing. This looks like it's shaping up to be a classic. Good luck Warhorse!
4 years later...Thank you for give us this unique experience, greatfully .
from FRANCE
"CLOSE THE DOOR"
Hodor!
XD
We love little details ;)
Actually closing the door, not so much.
AWESOME, the lack of blacksmithing is going to hurt though. However, I can't wait!
Keep up the good work Warhorse Studios! I admire your progress reports and being honest with them and I also admire you for not releasing your game in Early Access like everyone does now-a-days.
Hearty thanks for this update, very well done pouring out coherent information while keeping the footage interesting and relevant.
For a long time I was afraid of the potential feature creep prolonging the development to no end, immense relief to hear the actual content is finished (and more of it than originally planned). And hearing that polearms made it into game was pretty much instant prompt to finally stop sitting on my wallet.
The dog companion - you can do it, just change the battle breed into small Maltese dogie. It would not fight but it would start to bark hysterically in the best moments (during sneaking, important conversations or sex scenes). You could add it in DLC named "Hellspawn". :D
No dog companion, yes! Keep up the good work guys.
I just got this game and even from the beta I can telll the immense amount of care that was put into the game. This is one of those particular games that truly deserve to have a triple A backing and top tier marketing, but the worry is that it goes away unnoticed. If you guys don't have any plans in regards to this you may have to look into it, because I would definitely want you guys to succeed as a studio based on the beta I'm playing
I appreciate the honesty in these videos. Thank you for another update!
Incredible work guys and all the best for the final push. Will you be selling the main Kingdom Come art illustration (the mounted knight pictured after a battle) or maybe signed copies?
Well, all artworks are digital, so there is no "original" or something like this.
There will be an art book and you can get it on our homepage
www.kingdomcomerpg.com/en/get-the-game but only till the end of the year, because we need time to produce it.
Fakt super vývojársky denník, je vidieť veľa roboty a možno aj dobre, že ste sa ešte viac nezdržovali nad psom, súbojmi na koni a blacksmithom. Aspoň ste si nechali nejaké lákadlá do ďalších častí. Hudba je úžasná
This is my first time watching a dev vid, so imagine my surprise when I see Sir Hanush on the screen, and with a different voice
So rare to have a developing studio so honest and passionate, my faith in the videogame industry has restored a bit, you can take my money.
this guys deserve my money
for whom this is the most anticipated game of 2017?
You have a great mentality! More people like you is needed in the game development world!
this is really incredible. I mean, just seeing all the work and "toil" being put into creating a lush wondeful world is really inspiring and gives buyers a sense of pride when they buy a product. I will say with quite some conviction, that if most American videogame publishers (aside from Bethesda) they would be more inclined to look at the soul and apreciate it rather then the statistics. Because games are an artistic product and with art the critic never gets the last laugh. keep doing what you're doing @warhorsestudios. It really is a breath of fresh air.
Really excited for this game. Medieval era games are few and far between so seeing good ones is great. Will be buying this for me and my brother on release.
i was really looking forward to the blacksmithing :(
That what i wanted to hear you Guys are awesome :D
I have to say that I really enjoy your video updates, especially your candor and honesty. I look forward to the release of the game and I wish you all the success.
Also, I saw "the other Peter" in the video ;)
I love how upfront you are about the game development, what made it and what didn't and why. This really boosts our confidence in your company. I'm glad I backed this, and I will definitely look at your future projects to back them as well. Oh, and the game is looking amazing!
Also, epic beard as always, Daniel.
Love the statue of Geralt fighting the Griffin behind him. Makes me smile at the one I have on my shelf.
And your taste is scotch is impeccable, Highland Park forever!!!
I have one too, Witcher 3 is brilliant. Even Dan Vavra gave it 8|10 which is extremely high praise :)
I backed this back in 2014 on Kickstarter, and have followed this game up until now, but I would like to say that I think that you should really should delay the game to make the horse combat better, add blacksmithing, add the companions, quests, etc.
Rushing games always turns out badly, and I think this game has great potential. Waiting an extra year or so for a more complete game would be worth it, as more advanced horse combat and blacksmithing are features that are very, very important to me and many others, I believe.
That takes money, they would have to pay all the employees for another year without any real income and if the game would sell badly for whatever reason (and it would be lack of marketing most probably) they might be in financial tight spot or even go bankrupt. I'd much rather have fewer features that are polished delivered on time with studio still being able to sustain itself than large pool of features, some of which will be under-cooked or downright broken due to time or money constraints.
great work all involved and thank you
Man, you guys are pure awesomeness in human form.
Wow! I can't wait for this game!
Thank you so much for Russian subtitles, well, after you create a game. Good luck! :р
Спасибо! :3
cyka!
О, а я их не заметил.
Immense respect.. not hiding anything from the fans.. i truly wish all the very best for this game and this studio.. hope this will be a first among many more amazing games from these guys..
Man just imagine if they took this concept and made a mmo game with it in the future. I backed this game in the KS because I loved the idea of a medieval game without fantasy elements and that they were going with a realistic setting and game features.
Thanks for being honest in this
I was really expecting a crossbow
Edit: Also expecting a rapier, but hey, it's already good, quite beyond my expectations tbh. Though in my opinion it would be more beneficial if you guys took another year to add more content to this game, one of the good reasons is that high end cards would be much cheaper in a year meaning more players would be able to run this game properly
Clarence John Alfonso the thing is that usually a studio can't take forever with games. They need to sell them to pay the rent and salaries
dragon12234 I know but just imagine if they took more time adding content and features
Clarence John Alfonso A crossbow would be awesome!
Wrong century for rapier.
Crossbow was one of most popular weapon in this time. Instead of bows which was popular only in eastern tribes
The music is amazing! I love the live orchestra, can't wait to hear the entire soundtrack. :)
I was a bit worried about where this game was going, but this video has made me excited and proud to be a backer again. Its wonderful to have a studio that cares about its player base.
Wow, his English has become better and better since the first Kickstarter launch video. ah..this feeling of time passing.
Finally! Im excited! ;D
I'm so hyped for this, keep up the great work guys!
It's nice to see how much effort you put into it
This kind of honesty goes a long way Warhorse. Never you mind that some features aren't making it in. What is missing can be added later on as DLC, or by modding community if you support modding.
Could not have said it better myself!
Can you lay down in the game? Want to stare at the stars at night :P
So much hard work! Nothing but respect.
Simply can't wait for this, thanks for the update!
How could anyone disliked this?
Salty people know no boundaries to the salt which they sultrily saltify.. that fell apart somewhere.
Will you add blacksmithing etc. in DLC's ? Maybe together with another Story line?
It is not out of the realms of possibility that they might, but never loose faith in what the modding community can do as well!
Christian Walter Of course not , but dont forget that modding has mostly really small budget.
But endless time
Crime1207 true
Fantastic work Warhorse!! You guys push games forward.
what a gorgeous project you are handling! You rock, guys. keep it up!
