I spent 6 hours on my first tire change. Since then I've changed over 10,000 tires and these are the top 3 things I think tire changing videos are missing.
Adventure bike tires have super stiff sidewalls to prevent pinch flats but it also makes them extra hard to remove and replace. One challenge is keeping the bead down in the hollow of the rim. I have found that having some 1x1" pieces of 3/4 or 1/2" plywood stuffed between the bead and the rim can help with removal by keeping the bead positioned over the hollow. 👍👍
The Kove 450 videos brought me to you. As a dude with 23 years of riding and changing tire I clicked this one cause, “Hey there’s always something to learn”. Great video! I consider myself proficient at tires but buggered my last tube to my dismay and was almost ashamed of myself! That 12 o clock rule spells it all out. Great job helping to visualize what’s going on with the beads. Never stop learning & teaching.
Fantastic video! I’ve been changing tires without a problem for years and I just learned a couple of new tricks. Great content! I’m looking forward to more. Thank you.
I got a tip or three (just the tip, mind you) from Chuck years ago and haven't had a single install or removal go bad since. A good set of Motion Pro tyre spoons also made a big difference as they don't have a pointed tip like the cheap levers. Lots of lube for TuBliss, and talc powder for tubes has been a winner for me too. Also of note, different brands and compounds of tyres fit up differently - some easy, some almost impossible!
Such a great video, one of the best tire changing video I’ve seen. My first back tire change was a couple of weeks ago. 6 hours too, pinched first tube, scratched rims and a lot of sweat! 😅
Clear and concise about what's being done and why. And what to avoid. Very helpful, thanks for your help. And enjoy the Kove 450 Rally. Günter/Nürnberg
Some good tips. I always find if I am struggling in any way to back track to insuring every bit of tire is in the center hoop as possible. Some C clamps are invaluable with stiff ADV tires.
Great advice. I only do a couple sets a season between my and my kid's bike, and usually the first one i do i have to re-learn these after an hours fight. After that first one I've remembered and the rest of them are quick and easy, but tbat first of the season is always a doozy.
Also the thing that makes it extremely difficult to install/remove the tire is not keeping the side that's opposite to the tire irons sunk into the rim. That'll cause you to try an stretch the tire more than it can. The beads can't really stretch a lot since there's a metal insert in them around the circumference. So if one side stays on the rim shoulder it's gonna be impossible to get the opposite side to slide over the rim and that's when the temptation to use more force is stronger.
I sometimes put air in, but that doesn’t necessarily prevent a pinch. It might help, but 12 o’clock is far more effective. If I put air in the tube it’s just to keep the tube from climbing back out during installation.
That’s just water with a healthy glob of dish soap. I also use tire paste applied with a shaving cream brush. I add a bit of water to the paste for ease of application.
This dude’s channel is gonna blow up! I’m surprised he doesn’t already have more subscribers. So much value!!!
Yep, he'll have several hundred thousand subs in 3-5 years. Unbelievably badass!
The 12 o'clock danger for pinching the inner tube 👌 eye opener! Thank you so much! ❤
The best in-depth discussion on tire changing I have seen👍
Brilliant... i feel these were the "final teachings" I needed to to feel sufficiently confident in my tire changing skills!
There are lots more coming.
The best tire changing video ever!
Brilliant! Not even Jay Clark shows these pointers. This is going on my tire change playlist to review every time I change a tire!
Great tips! I've changed already a few hundred tyres and those are some really superb tips for beginners.
The 12 o’clock tire spoon trick is not something I had considered. Thanks!!
can't believe more people haven't watched this .... excellent video, nice to see you're not wearing a baseball cap back to front 😂

Best descriptive explanation of what is going on during a tyre change. Thank you for sharing.
Wow, this was so much more helpful than watching some guy changing a mx tire in less than 2 minutes 😂👌🏻💪🏻 Thank you
Best video on this subject I have ever come across. Thanks Chuck!
I appreciate it.

We all pinch one every now and again. I tend to do one every 5 years or so. It’s always embarrassing.
Great video, I've never seen it explained this way
One of the best tire change demo!
That was an outstanding video, Chuck!
Thanks for sharing

It's amazing how much easier this job gets with practice. Thanks for the tips.

There’s the innuendo.

6 hours is a hard tire change! I’d love to hear how long the second one takes.
Smart & helpful thank you…!!!

Genius.
Changed my first tube about 2 weeks ago on a pit bike with 2 crowbars somehow managed not to pinch or pop the tube😂
Thanks for the tips. What if you put some air in the tube when installing it in order to avoid destroying it when installing the tyre.

❤️👍👍👍👍
Just curious as to what tire lube you’re using. Thanks.
