3 ways to break a tyre bead - with tools you already own!

Sooner or later, after driving offroad, you'll get some debris in the bead of your tyre. You'll notice this as a slow leak, either resulting in a fully-flat tyre, or the tyre deflating down to the pressure it was when debris got in there - for example, from 35 back down to 20.
The solution is often simple - you'll need to break the bead (separate tyre from the rim), clean it up, and re-inflate it. And that's what I show here.
There are many different ways to do that...and here's three ways that work with tools you probably already own. Multi-use tools are the best!

A good all round video, but my advice when re inflating, put plenty of lube around the tyre bead, the tyre will go back into position much easier. If off roading a squeezy bottle with a water and dishwasher mix of lube is handy to carry.

Put your spare on, lower jack and place tyre under jack to break the bead
Starting fluid and a match
When you break the bead, always turn the tie and do it again on the side across from where you just broke the bead

Preventing the tire from being completely crushed was one of the best points you made here! You'll end up with scrap tires if you crush them sideways! But that last wheel rim definitely got damaged as the jack slipped sideways. Protect your rims people! Use a piece or two cut from a plastic bucket at the very least!

I break the bead the same way but I put the tire so that the end of the foot slides in under the edge of the rim against the bead of the tire. I find it pushes the bead down better with a little less deforming of the tire tread surface. And don't forget to have dish soap on hand for lube and maybe a little multipurpose grease to run around the bead to help it seal better. When changing tires over out in the middle of nowhere I also use 8 ounces or so of engine oil inside the tire to balance it.

You still don't have those tools. But that concept with his digging boards that you don't have can be modified using a 4x4.
I don't own a hijack anymore. I had 2 but I destroyed them overloading trying to get skids under sinking shipping containers in mud. Got the job done but came out c shaped.
Your videos are great. I like my Tyrepliers but as you suggest you really need to practice whichever method on a level driveway. Its always more difficult in the field !

So I tried like 5 different methods to take of my run flat tires off my 17” stock bmw rims and ohh man what a freaking pain… I could not get the run flat wheel to budge, I broke the seal but the tire is soo hard it wouldn’t want to move and I used the jack with straps method. All I need led to was was get my tpms sensors out and swapped and couldn’t do it on run flat tires just FYI. Run flats are super hard

Hi Robert, why not both sides? I would have assumed that the bead would separate from both sides equally. Secondly you have completely deflated the tyre and driven onto it, this will force mud/dirt into the exposed area on the bottom. A tarp on the underside would seem to be a necessity. Other than that great tips, thanks.
The bottom bead is not broken, so no need to protect it. But, a tarp won't hurt.
Further information - you break a tyre's bead on the top and then the bottom, then you can lever the tyre out from wheel.
However, this case, we're dealing with debris between the tyre and rim. That could happen on the inside of the wheel, but very rarely does because the inside tends not to rub up against ruts, and when a vehicle slides into a rut the downside tyre outside takes most of the stress. Therefore, debris-in-bead tends to be a problem only on the outside tyres. And, the tyre doesn't need to be entirely removed/refitted to fix, as shown.
I may do another video on completely changing a tyre on a rim.
on the last demo, I've seen a man use it floor jack the same way with the ratched straps. Thanks. we don't have bumper jacks in usa not since the early 70's. They were outlawed because of the deaths and them kicking out and falling over so easy.
it's a hi lift jack. they are used everyday in the USA. my hi lift bolts into the bumper shackle d ring, it can't slip off !

Aluminum rims is easy
I popped the tire off the rim un the back no problem, I put a hydraulic jack on the rim and under the tire to rip off the bead but my stubborn tire would rather rip than break the bead
