Finish Carpentry TV you are one of my fav channels toooo man great work always
Finish Carpentry TV do you require John to wear the company tshirt while working?
I appreciate watching your videos Scott. As a builder in Chicago USA it’s interesting learning the building styles of other builders in different countries. Keep up the work !
That was one of you’re best Scott Brown Carpentry! Great team work..uniforms look smart. Roof looks amazing. Best of all you are all safe. Glad they have scaffolding around the roof these days.👍😎
Scott Brown, you have one of the strangely enjoyable style of presentation and personality. love your work whether it's behind the hammer or the handheld ;)
my two favorite chippies best entertainment on the net nice boys

Benjamin White But why dark metal in a sunny, hot climate ?
Great transition from day one to two, haven't seen that one! I really enjoyed the camaraderie and the great overall cooperative "let's get it done" vibe! Nice job!
Haha the camera flip between work days was cool!
nice work... i learned a lot from you sir... good work and patience... greetings from Philippines...
Man, folks that go on about how good things were done in the old days haven't spent much time around old NZ houses eh?
I know right 😂
If I lived in Auckland I would work for you guys for free. Great channel, fun and learning combined xxx
I love that Hitachi framing nailer I just bought one
Kevin R its battery only aye? No gas
Cracking job and as ever the coolest music on CZcams 👍🏻
Always interesting to see the variations in procedure of different countries on how structures are put together. I've either built or helped build a number of structures in several different countries and whether it's roofing, framing, plumbing, or electrical it's always different. Not necessarily better or worse, just different
It really is. I know that i’ve picked up a couple things from watching different people from different areas work. Just different methods to do the same or similar project
so interesting to see how vastly different things are made around the world, or around the disk if your into that flat earth thing... really enjoy your videos. keep it up!
I don't know how you don't have more views, or more subscribers.... but keep up the great work. Love the videos, the editing is awesome and I'm definitely taking notes trying to model what you and few other awesome youtubers are doing.
Keep crushing it!
Cheers man
Chur! That Paerau needs a payrise👍cool video thanks for sharing.
Gotta love the heat!
We like Cameron he’s cool
teamwork extraordinaire - all that in two days! Lucky I didn't get the job 'cos I don't do roofs no more 😎
😂I think I know why
Piece of cake !. Opposing angle nails into rafter :)
Awesome work
Yeah - was wondering if you would get it done by Friday. We did as much outside work as we could yesterday so we could stay inside today (Friday) when the rains came (as I can hear now on the roof above me).
Cameron seem like a great guy
Wish workers at Edwards and hardy were this chill. Would make it fun
Loving the glove tan lines safety first ✌
Lol lol
Another class video cheers!
Good job guys💯👍 my O.C.D couldn't help but notice the sag in the underlay lol🤦🤙
Do some more vid of you 3 please! A great team. Put yr matching outfits on👍
Tidy job Scott . A small tip if your purlins are running straight it's sometimes easier to pre drill your sheets all in one go when there bundled it saves caulk lining each row. Keep up the good work mate.
Smart, I like it
3 best guys in the world..
Very similar to the roof we had to replace here on the Big Island.
Hi Scott loving the vids, would love to see a video on how you got to wear you are today/your story!
Coming soon 👍
Scott Brown Carpentry awesome can’t wait!!
Hard work man 🙏
Will you show us how skylight windows are installed?
Was trying to work out where you were but then you flew up and over the Recreation Centre and I saw the Rocket Park! - Brought back great memories. Thanks
Great content Scott. Let's have more of Cameron on your vids..... yay.
Nice roof. Im watching this with the roof is on fire (bloodhound gang) on the radio :D
Браво маэстро!)))
Great thumbnail!
Awesome lads
nicely done
What 8 haters gave this a thumbs down!
Honestly Scott, you by far do the best videos on CZcams in my opinion regarding construction, your editing’s straight up top notch and the way you and Paeru Joke around is always hilarious, now I get to see my Instagram homie Cameron Do the damn thing too! Seriously Brother I hope they TV network picks you up, you really deserve it.
Cheers my bro 👊
Thanks great video
It only took you lads 10 minutes to do a roof, that’s impressive, good job.
😂
That's why everyone does a quote price for a re-roof not hourly rate.
Great episode... How DIYable is doing this? You make it look pretty easy...
amzing job... !!!!
Quick thank you! I love relaxing to your videos. Chilled and fun 😊👍
What's cooler than getting to work with your homies. You carry a lot of same mojo as Samurai Carpenter!
love the video Scott, keep it up man. felo chippy all the way from from south wales
Cameron Adams are you from Swansea?
@@MsElijah16 no valleys
Cheers Cameron!
I'm pretty amazed you don't use anticon blanket in NZ,bit of extra insulation helps.
Thanks for showing the structure below the finished layer. Is it common in NZ to build without the use of purlins to support the rafter expanses?
This type of construction is actually from California. Same builders and methods. Some call it the Pasadena style. From the colonial period (mid 1800's) right through to the 1940's (war) most of what we see in NZ was influenced by the labour and methods of the West Coast of the US.
Very great video! What are those fasteners used to hold down the tar paper?
hey man ive just recently discovered your channel and ive also recently started studying college so your channel has been a god send of real world knowledge. keep it up bro.
A new corrugate roof is damn sexy.
It's a lot quicker and easier to pre-drill your iorn on the ground. Stack them all on top of each other and drill, your screw lines end up perfectly straight 😉
Will Clews no it isn't
Straighter than following a chalk line??!
Ya can't do that, a lot of roofs are not square, especially not old ones, and often you need to step sheets and your screws do not work out to be in the same place on each sheet.
Sure, RR Buildings does that, but his shit is perfect.
Running felt tar paper vertically is a waste of money as if there any leaks under tin then the seam is going to fail on felt.
Run it horizontally and pull it taught cheers
Hearing the Cicadas always makes me feel the heat. 😂
Finally said soffit right 😂 i always laugh when u say sofeeeet. Great video!
Well i've allways called it sofeeeet
It sounds very French. Whenever he says it, I get the urge to go murder some snails!

_"It sounds very French"_
Because the word comes from French.
I had an Australian relative a while back trying to mock me offering her a duvet (Doona in her neck of the woods) saying that it sounded like I was speaking French. I impolitely explained to her that there's a reason for that...
It's French bro, derived from Latin. It's like the yanks saying aluminum or "sodder" Doesn't hurt to say Soffite.
You fellas look like fun to work with. Cheers from Nebraska 👍🏻✊🏻
smooth operator ...... sbc
from our (the viewer) perspective , Cameron is a part of the team.
Thankfully for all the exciting episodes this week. Did you find a way to expedite your editing? Is that the reason for daily videos?
We appreciate it
Had some late nights 🙂
You can get away with roofs built like that in NZ but here in Canada that roof would last only until Winter, we need beefy rafters or trusses spaced at 16" oc and sheathed with osb or plywood.
No snow in Auckland to worry about. Other parts of the country may have to factor it in.
I've become an addict of this channel
I used to live around the corner from there , i think that road was Jesmond Terrace
Cheers Scott. What pitch is that roof? 20-25?
Good Video Scott
what make of Drone is that ?
Exceeded my expectation fulfil
what tool belt you using in the video, thabnks.
Hey mate, imagine you are in Nz? As per regulations, how far should be the screws placed? Do we need a double sided tape like I see in other videos? I see you put a lot of hard work into your videos. Love your carpentry work. Didn’t expect your video with roofing😀. Thanks for sharing. Very informative.
One of the things I enjoy most about your channel is the camaraderie between three independent builders.
I miss NZ a lot.
Lived there for a year, wife is a JAFA, so know the place very well.
Love the content, always worth watching you guys.
Can you send me a potato top pie please lol
👍😅🇬🇧
Shit man this makes me wanna film me and My workmate restoring tile roofes up here in denmark 😁👍
Not a bad reroof for a million dollar home
Ive got major noise that seems to come through the roof (same style as this one, but i notice its got building paper underneath) when I replace it what sort of options could be used to reduce the noise that travels through it? I can even hear birds walking on it in bedrooms, could plywood or some sort of rubber membrane (thicker building paper?) be used underneath the tin sheets to provide more of a noise barrier? Im guessing traffic noise always makes it way through if im able to hear birds walking on the roof too
Plywood would definitely remove that sound transmission. Or any other kind of sarking (boards) as an underlay. Starts getting pricey depending on what you use but there are often suppliers getting rid of ply that has failed the structural test, or other DD rated ply. Even 9mm ply would greatly increase sound and heat insulation.
Whats that stuff being sprayed on the old framework
Would love to see a hitachi framer review !
Watching this gave me flash backs to my first roof where I had been on the job 3 months and the sheet caught the wind took 3 of us flying with it then dropped us through the paper on the roof. Looking back I can see the funny side
i hope you can show those roof windows being fitted.
What tool did you use to put the sheets on ?
Do you not sheet it? I live in Scotland and the regs says we have to. Also what kind of paper is that?
What's the plastic sheeting used for? Extra water proofing?
Good example what happens when you fix roof panel from ridges.
All nail/screw holes start to leak because it isn't rigid enough to prevent roof panel slightly moving on wind and with thermal movement also you can't get tight seal for that rubber sealant because metal will bend.
These roofs are incredible strong and weatherproof and the whole roof forms a diaphragm. The screw pattern is not just along the ridge edge. The corrugation profile allows for the expansion and contraction. It's an incredibly versatile and durable build method when it incorporates hurricane ties and the correct bracing methods.
you guys should do more projects together!
How far apart do you screw the sheets and what is the distance between rows
Never seen so little timber on a roof! Wouldn’t get away with that in the UK. Great video though.
It’s a very standard design, NZ roofs have been built like this for 150 years plus. We don’t get snow in most of NZ so no need to build for snow loading. Metal roofing is lightweight, concrete tile roofs have a lot more timber.
Where do you get pink wood from?
What ia that black lining you put prior to the metal roofing?
also questionable is the metelex sprayed on the purloin , it is solvent based and will presumably react with the roofing paper
How do you like that drywall drill for sinking those screws? Impacts have too much power I’m not a fan
A 16 yr old commenting on a technique that many trained professionals are capable of using fine TOUCH.
Stick to your computer games brother. Leaving the trade work to Scott and his crew.👍
Excellent work. How old was the previous roof? Ive been told I should replace my roof but its only 34 yrs old and I understand colorbond should be good fo about 70 yrs. I have no rust, just lichen and some screws need washers. Any suggestions?
34 years is an old Roof, I would say it needs replacing but in saying that it might be able to be restored and Recoated
What I dont get is why treat the old timber when each newly replaced timber has its own hazard class?
Metalex is generally used to treat any fresh cuts that will be exposed to moisture and the elements. Not so much for beetles/ boron related issues. If that were the case you would use a chemical / fumigating application instead.
