cringe. when people talk about how science fiction is really self examination, this is not what they had in mind. can you imagine this sobbing pathetic display in 2001 a space odyssey? embarrassing filmaking
Ad Astra.. I believe the space and worlds destruction was the plot.... But the real underlying and poignant message was the relationship of the son, brad Pitts character and the father, Tommy lee jones. How the son got through life by working hard pushing hurt, anger abandonment feelings to one side. Finally through a leading up to a world disaster he has a chance to confront and deal with all this by finally finding his father. By meeting, talking and seeing what the father has done and become. The son was still able to reach down and forgive the father and telling him that he loved him. Then through the final powerful scene the father tussled with the son and telling him to let go, "let me go Roy"....The son with sadness did !....this set him free brought inner healing, love and reconciliation with life and wife.

We can escape gravity, we can even control our heart rate but we can never escape our childhood.

This showed that the answers didn't really matter. All that matters is that he was being honest.
Honest to himself or strong enough to face his own weaknesses and act in consequence. I agree.

@@NaughtyVampireGod For me, the honesty of his words and feelings make him so real

It's sad and worrisome yet kind of hopeful when he just says he does not want to be his Dad. It's hard when you realize this about people you love.

The most important thing was that he didn't want to be like his dad.

Anyone know what tune from the soundtrack is playing in the beginning? Another obscure Nihls Fram song?
🖖
I can’t find the song played in this scene… Anyone knows it?
Lorne Balfe - JGBP
On Spotify I found the soundtrack. It's called: to the stars by max Richter
HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE HAWKE
Where can I watch it for free on CZcams?
You really think this movie deserves to be watched for free? Come on now.
Kind of silly that he's comparing his dad's anger to the space chimpanzee's tho?
The anger he saw in the monkey was raw and unbridled. Which is common in humans too.
