    I have to watch this at least everyday. I can relate to how Roy feels, pain really does get in the way of everything, relationships especially. I’m not close with my father and he’s been living in Germany for the past 10 years, I live in Texas. So it’s kinda like he’s in outer space compared to where I’m at. I’m obsessed with this movie

      My uncle died a few years ago, he was born without knowing his father. His family knew but they hide it until the day he was bed ridden, he's a good person but he loose sights of the people that are present and loves him coz of the pain of living without knowing who his father is to the point that life hits hard. My aunt passed away, and that's it. It got worst everyday. Alcohol addiction ends his life despite all the wake up call he has. I'm in the same situation but a bit different. I knew who my father was, but I grew up without him. For the past 28 years I only see him a couple of times maybe 10+. He's not close with my grandpa, they have personal issues XD but the relationship heals and slowly recover overtime. Glad that before my granpa passed away last year both side accepted each other. Right now we're seeing each other more often. *I am living my life with science and faith, even though I did not grow up with my father. Hatred doesn't build up with me* . Life is short living like that. Stay stong.

      It was too somber, existential and serious for the movie going public to understand or notice back in 2019, but I think it will go on to be a popular cult classic.

    This scene is the best of the whole movie. It could be a short-film on it's own

      @@mcbrideclips6232 Brad Pitt deserves a lot of credit, that man could have been just the good looking guy banging out a couple rom-coms and then just sail into the sunset, but the man is bringing to life these incredible characters. The Oceans movies(I just saw Oceans 11 in theaters in 2022😂), once upon a time in Hollywood, burn after reading, Fight Club, Bullet train, Inglorious Basterds. I think the best part is he isn’t totally jacked up in the head, so I feel better about being a fan(thanks Spacey)

    0:34 is by far the most memorable piece of music from this movie, hauntingly beautiful.
    Reminds me of Evenstar.

    This whole movie is really about how small we are compared to space and how it is difficult to travel on and how alone it feels being an astronaut in space,I can already imagine people seeing this in the future and wonder how we used to travel in space with few resources

    It is sad how rare these kind of movies are today. I just heard my friend criticizing the movie that there was not enough action and it was boring. Damit, should it all be just some Star Wars pew pew then where there is nothing more than big hearable explosions and pew in space? Sometimes I think that I am just intellectual enough to get and enjoy from these kind of movies.

    This scene messed me up. The idea of being in space for months and months alone with only your determination to carry your sanity. When I watched this movie it was also the first time I understood how truly terrifying space actually is.

    Graham Greene's Heart of Darkness ...once more.

    • @lamontcranston3177
      @lamontcranston3177 Před rokem +1

      Graham Greene did not write The Heart of Darkness. Joseph Conrad did. The theme is derived from the ancient Greek poet Homer. The theme is "the search for the father". The father is Ulysses. The searcher is his son Telemachus. The epic poem is The Odyssey.

    I love this movie and don't mean to sound like a science nerd, but the math always troubled me. Currently it would take 11 years round trip to make it to Neptune from Mars. And another 12 years to make it back to Earth. Thats a total of 23 years. Assuming they have increased the spaceship speed by say... 30%, which is a very liberal guess, that would still be roughly 16 years total. Roy doesn't look 16 years older to me.

      @@astrofpv3631 I accounted for that, still would be a 16 year round trip. I guess we’re supposed to believe he’s traveling about 15% the speed of light.
