- Over the years 343 employees have blatantly displayed a lack of respect and contempt for Halo and its community. They have no respect for the franchise nor the people who play it.
Alot of the people who have said these things are STILL at 343 in positions of power. Lets not forget how they treat us.
Note: I wanted to keep the examples limited to the rudest most indisputable examples of 343 staff being horrible directly to the community. The various broken promises, cut features, late things etc is another topic for another video. The purpose of this one was just to expose the corporate attitude 343 has towards its community. - Hry

I hate this whole "anti-consumer agenda" that has seem to run rampant throughout the western media industry in recent years. I hate how they will call fans toxic and then mock them for it, especially the ones that were only attempting to providing valid criticism. Yet these companies ask in stupidity as their sales decline/drop, why no one is buying their products. Maybe they will realize that the consumers are actually smart and not just a bunch of mindless sheep as they presumed.

It started when millenials got into the industry.
After halo infinite came out i went to the forums to complain about having to spend £80 to recreate my halo reach spartan (as best as i could because apparently primary and secondary colours are to much to fucking ask for from the from shit-wobbles at 343)
Anyways, i was bombarded by people giving me reasons of how i am in the wrong. They said things like; "343 never promised this" and "343 don't owe you anything"
I literally believe that people like that are the reason a lot of companies get off the hook from doing fucked shit.

Kind of did that about a year ago. Did a 2 hour and 17 minute long video called 'How Halo Died: A Video Essay'. It's worth a watch but I will warn you I didn't have the best mic back then.

I'll never understand how they expect to pull fans in when they treat them so poorly. You have an audience, why would you try to get rid of them in favor of a new one? The only really good thing they did for legacy fans imo was official mod tools and support for MCC so I can look forward to mod releases instead of whatever crap 343 puts out. Serious look into the background of people hired at 343 you will find many examples of them just mocking and attacking halo fans or anything classic halo.
Like for example they hired a writer on who wrote some whole article about how halo 2s gravemind and cortana is a rap allegory. They don’t understand halo at all and they are so entitled and lazy they think MCC was prefect launch product and we just had high expectations. He can't handle criticism and blocks people when you call him out and he values his Political Correctness above all else. He used to bash 343, but since 343 had him as a Forerunner and not only that hired him last year he not only became a hypocrite but at the same time the biggest ass kisser 343 has.
You know what I want? I want to see 343 develop an actual Call If Duty, since they clearly have had a fetish for any other franchise besides Halo. I want to see if they could... you know, release a CONTENT COMPLETE, FUNCTIONAL, STABLE PRODUCT. But the 343 promise is screw you so it would be busted.

@@TSK_Silver A massive part as to why the whole microtransaction bullshit is rampant - and a big reason why they're no longer fun - is because AAA games these days are getting more and more expensive to make - especially thanks to rising costs everyone has to deal with. This is exactly why games with über-realistic graphics are in the $60 range.
The worst part is that none of the costs incurred even matter because so much focus was pointed to appealing "muh ooltra geymoorz" that they end up spending an extreme amount of money on the shit that barely matters like graphics while completely neglecting shit like gameplay, story, writing, functionality (i.e. no bugs), how fun is the game, etc. No amount of graphics, diversity, and mod support will matter if the overall game is shit.
There's a reason I stick to Custom Edition, pirated old games, indies, and even started phase one of making a game engine.
Unyshek is openly hostile and condescending towards the community. In live streams he lashes out with pure hate towards the enemy team. It is clear unyshek is mentally unstable and is compelled to take out his repressed hate on us.

From the very beginning in Halo 4, they OBJECTIVELY hated their core audience when they went for the Call Of Duty playerbase, as a wise old alien maniac priest once said, "for those who thought this day would never come, what are you to say now?"
Another example of this you missed was how TeamRespawn asked some community guy at 343 about the Halo Wars 2 servers being out and buggy. The guy completely ignored him and days later responded saying he was worried about there being WW3 because of Russia and Ukraine (luckily that would only happen if either side goes crazy. According to everything we’ve seen it’s an endless meat grinder on both sides who haven’t gained any ground in over a year and just keep telling their side that they’re totally winning. It’s a stalemate because both stations are run by horribly corrupt oligarchs who send thousands of their own people to die over petty garbage. Their are no true “good guys” in this conflict). The guy just used that as a cop out to not do his job and blocked TeamRespawn over this. Even the people who are supposed to communicate with fans hate their jobs.

343 is a horrible studio and must go, we need a new studio created in collaboration with multiple other Microsoft subsidiary’s. Also, a hard reboot that starts at then of Halo 3, proper remakes of older halo games, and spin offs.

I think that after Halo 4 343 made the community out to be the bad guys and couldn't accept that they had made a game that wasn't very fun/popular. They have been on a similar trend ever since, which is why I have almost 0 respect for the studio as a whole.

343 are a joke, let me give you some context. In 8 years people are calling Halo Infinite (with the release of infection) launch ready, 8 years. Bungie had made Halo's 1, 2, 3 and ODST in that time, and were working on Reach their fifth game, five games when 343 can't provide a solid functioning single game. The problem is not subjectively they are the worst developers. They are the worst developers.
Every other "live service" easily has more content. It was an issue with Halo 5, did they learn? Halo Infinite's content can answer that. I mean the sad thing that Overwatch is on season 5 and is a YEAR younger than Halo Infinite, speaks volumes. 8 years of being able to keep their job is the only thing that impresses me, if you ever feel you can't do your job look at their competency and i'm sure it'll bring your spirits up about yourself.
Their management was holding them back. As well as Affirmative Action. One was fully neutralized, the other still has vestigialities.

343i does have fans…I have a habit of receiving their hate almost on a daily basis. They’d enjoy watching Master Chief being a descendant of Unggoy, as long as it was 343i who made the change.
At the end of the day, we don't have to get upset at their attitude; it has already come back at them and will continue to get back at them. Money talks. Halo is practically irrelevant at this point, especially compared to what it once was. They've run this franchise into the ground and that says more about the situation than anything else that could be said. They were sitting on a gold mine with Halo and squandered it.

Halo has lost nearly all of it's cultural relevance and is actively seen as a laughingstock of the gaming community. Not to mention the paramount live-action series acts as further proof of their awful management for the IP.
It's crazy to think that 343 have been in charge of Halo as long as if not longer than Bungie at this point. It's almost funny how badly they've tarnished the Halo franchise in nearly every aspect.

Now insert 343; pretenders to the throne, they have no attachment to the land or it’s people and have been justly rewarded. I don’t think 4, 5, or Infinite have lost money, but being nowhere near the top ten does not scream success to me.

The issue with that statement tho is that a bunch of ex-bungie devs who worked on halo left bungie to work at 343 to continue making halo so there had to jave been some passion there but your statement does apply to the management at the time who were literally just assigned and didnt have any connection to the game. They are the ones who made horrible decisions and thats why people blame Microsoft a lot instead of 343 because 343 is like what, 10 big shots calling decisions that then hundreds of actual devs are forced to comply with

Thanks for pointing out that 343 has been treating the fan base like this since before Halo 4's launch. I remember looking at that back in the day and clearly feeling there was something off about them. I think its crazy to see Halo fans/gamers in general have such short term memories. Completely forgetting the state MCC launched (hey, I'm happy its overall better these days) back in 2014 and how 343 just swept it under the rug for years! And what's sad is that 343 will continue to f up and gaslight the fans; and a bunch of them will still be quick to forgive, will still hype insignificant changes as "OMG HALO IS BACK YOU GUYS", and will still give reasons to Microsoft and 343 to not care.
I mean, its crazy how they managed to gaslight a great part of the audience into thinking they "fixed" Bungie's lore...when all they did was ruin core themes and elements (The Forerunners, as an example) and overcomplicating the story to the point that, in order to understand the game, you HAVE to do your homework and consume all external material, which is a big no no in storytelling 101. Not to mention their constant reboots, changing main villain every other day, and the list goes on.

It never ceases to amaze me that companies like these are so narcissistically incapable of taking any responsibility for upsetting their fans of beloved franchises, and treat us like we're spoiled rotten brats privileged to even still get said franchises, only to become bastardized versions of 'em.
They never listen to criticism because they can't tell the difference between constructive and toxic while thinking us fans don't know what we're talking about (as if we didn't have experiences from previous game developers that have handled matters more professionally), and that we don't know what we want until we get it. Yet, every single time when they actually have a chance to sit down with their respective communities to discuss, do polls, or take ANY online feedback to implement features of previous entries that have done things WAY better-like how Bungie created their games-they still have the audacity to flip their communities off and fuel the flames even more by being toxic themselves. Look at what happened with The Last of Us 2's director antagonizing his fans because of a botched story.
How does this type of strategy even work? Consumers are not gonna be like, "Oh, well, I guess I have been a little silly with my behavior. You guys are right; I should just be happy that we're still getting a new Halo game no matter what you guys tend to do with it-even at the cost of spitting on its legacy."
It isn't the fans that have become entitled, it's companies like these that think they deserve our time and money without putting forth any effort themselves to earn our respect that are the entitled ones.

At this point, I want Doom developer ID Software to make a Halo game just like the Bungie games, but with meaningful gameplay improvements, tons of single and multiplayer content, a great solo/split screen or online co op campaign and a sweet 8-24 player multiplayer with tons of maps and game modes from the old Bungie games as well as all new maps and modes from ID. Free from rampant culture ideologies, toxic workplace behavior, anti consumer attitudes, and just general dumbfounding there. Make it for the old fans as well as newcomers unfamiliar to the series. Know the audience for this game. Get it right the first time at release. Release at least 3 or 4 expansions for the game adding new features and content. Abandon the games as a service model altogether. Do what Bungie did years ago.

in all seriousness, I agree, Doom feels like one of the last games that has been around for twenty or more years and the new games still feel awesome, like Doom, the fans love it, and the broader audience that 343 has been trying to get the attention of since 2012, loves it too. that's why 343 couldn't get the attention of the broader audience. they were too busy loving Doom.

It took ten years before Halo fans finally put their foot down and said, we need to talk. Any time before that and you would've been attacked by 343i fans calling you a toxic Bungie fanboy, unwilling to accept change, to just be patient and the next one will be better. That's what 343 runs on. Bungie's Halo brought long lines at midnight releases, tvs into college cafeterias, countless hours at your friend's houses with pizza until the early hours of the morning, and a consistently strong player base for years.

Ive played since the halo 2 days and just looking back at everything makes me sad, bungie had a close relationship with the fans and held the bungie day multiplayer events. 343 brazenly has abused the fans for over a decade and ruined it. I remember warning people that something was off with 4 and was given shit for it. They really should of been sued for the hunt the truth adds cause none of that had to do with the product we got.

I wouldn't say "Killed" it at CE anniversary, since that was their first game (Though their changes in visuals make no sense besides lore. Since reach takes place before 1)
I'd say they killed it at 4. Especially with the multiplayer, since half of the multiplayer is cod, but halofied with a halo visual. But that visual is more cod like. Basically, it's cod, but it kinda looks like halo.
Halo was my first game that got me into gaming, I’m now a cod mw2 gamer most likely moving to ps5 if they make it exclusive there. I’m not the only one, I had 7 friends that played halo exclusively, now they’re offline.
That's because modern Halo is a joke. I've mostly walked away from it myself. Sometimes I play mods but that's it really.

I do feel bad for all the design artists, effects people, coders.. so many people that have probably poured their life into these 343 games just for them to be terribly hated, to no fault of their own or the quality of their work necessarily, but because of the vision and people in charge who make the final decisions. It just be soul sucking. Much like the CGI people slaving to put out the latest slew of trash marvel movies that the dedicated fan base hate. My heart goes out to them.. I can’t imagine. But they can’t speak out about any of it 99% of the time due to NDA, legal ramifications, blacklisting. Glad to see 343 leadership get cleaned out, accountability starts (and in this case likely ends) at the top.

Bonnies role was clearly focused on employing and catering to women. Along a ton of other poor business choices aka Frank O’Connor.

I could go on forever on this - but what really never made sense to me was Matt booty and Phil Spencer handing bonnie ‘the keys to the franchise’ when she didn’t even have a f*#*{# studio to work in and less than 30 staff at the time.

I feel for pop Q (bring back halo) because that man has been fighting for years. And it seems to fall on deaf ears in 343, as the video proves.
For now - I cannot focus on this failed halo as it’s not a priority atm and I seem to get triggered every time I see the state of halo - 343 and their soy boys on CZcams have done that much to push away fans of classic halo.
I find it extremely ironic since when Halo was under Bungie, there was very good representation of women. Even if 343 wants to say Cortana is too sexualized, Bungie still had Female Marines, Miranda, Kat, Dare, and Dr. Halsey. All great characters!

I came up with some Ron Swanson style quote a while ago and I think it relates to 343 trying to make Halo ‘for everyone.’

Also I do feel like 343 has become like how Bethesda is with fallout in someways where it’s not their own made original property so they don’t care as much for it and will put in whatever because that sounds good. Feels like It’s a video game with an (insert series name here) coat of paint.
Maybe 343 should make their own IP then. If you acquire one of the biggest franchises in any media, it comes with fans with expectations.
It isn't even fans expectations...343 fails all basic expectations. I honestly think the company should be disbanded and the individuals here fired and blacklisted from the industry.

I really hate the graphics for Halo Infinite because they're plasticky and cartoonish. This is most noticeable with the plasma shot from the Plasma Pistol and weapons/vehicle with similar projectiles, because they look like paint on surfaces.
The story here isn't how petulant the community was: the story is about how they kept coming back after being shat upon time after time after time.

Man I miss the old Halo. Im tired of Halo content creators being way to positive about the state of Halo, they even say in there videos well we have to be positive about things. Im not saying don't give any credit to 343 but unless we admit really how bad things are then how do we make progress. I have had people say to me on Reddit the game is fine but my reply is why does it have a couple thousand players then? How can a game be good and fine if hardly anyone is playing it I don't get that. It would be different if you were talking about a small indie game but a F2P AAA game with a tiny playerbase this is not a good game overall. Yes it has some good moments and the gameplay is kind of fun sometimes but It's a shell of what Halo can be.
True. I think its sad how people go and say '343 saved Halo' or '343 made Infinite good' when all they do is add more microtransactions and like one or two maps. Pathetic. That statement on positivity, i 100% back. Content creators always ramble and apologist for being negative but i just find it really annoys me when the negativity is more than valid. It sucks as well because for some, their lively hood is crumbled around them and instead of going ballistic they decide to show cowardice and pat the remaining audience that is still watching and stay positive.

I pointed out in a halo discord channel how bad Infinite is for live service compared to the likes of OW2 & CodMWII and the people got so butthurt and said OW2 is OW1 no shit but they still managed to have content than Infinite.
MWII a literal joke of a Cod game has more content than Infinite hell I pointed how S4 is dry with content we get 3 actual this: 2 maps, 1 old mode and a progression system and people offended for me speaking the truth. S3 all the way back to s1 was dry in terms of content. They tried counting paid cosmetics as CONTENT. 343 have fried the brains of 99% of the community.
Here’s something sadder for a comparison: Hasbro is better listeners to their Transformers community and rebooted the live action movie franchise and 343 have done the opposite. As a future director my goal is to 1 day talk to MS and make a Halo 4 reboot film as a fuck you to 343 and a thank you to the actual LOYAL HALO FANS.

I don't think its so much that 343 has fried the brains of the community I think its more a matter of they have cultivated an environment that is only friendly to shills and quite frankly a certain type of individual that has no interest in any activity that doesn't involve grinding Halo. They have no other lives, don't play much of other games, and generally don't take care of themselves.
I'm sure there are a few exceptions to that but by in large I can kind of tell the maturity and overall perspective of these types based on the way they comment.
It seems to me this is what most of the Halo community is these days. Simply because 343 alienated everyone else.

Despite the fact that I've enjoyed Halo Infinite since it launched, I gotta admit, These are very fair points and defiantly something to really keep in mind. You really gotta wonder what exactly Microsoft was thinking when making 343 like this, wait, they did form during the Kinect and Xbox One launch era with all the execs in charge of those, that might explain alot.

I've tried to do some positive stuff but at this point I...don't see the point. For a decade plus I've given feedback on forums, subreddits, youtube posts, discord, etc and so have thousands of others yet 343 doubles down time and time again. Halo is over.
@@BrokenCircle1 You are right, I started to be a fan of Halo in 2016 and first played Reach at my cousins home in 2011 for a straight weekend splitscreen 4 players. I as a Playstation die hard just bought an Xbox One Slim for MCC and 5 because of the love of CZcamsrs like HiddenXperia, LNG, Actman and ect. and even in 2016 watched every genuine critic video which 99% were made with love and passion and 343 still fumbled everything with Infinite and the show lmao. They already lost me again as a Halo fan but the OG Trilogy will always live in my heart with heroic difficulty and CE with Legendary. I didnt even finish Infinite only like 50% because I missed the old Campaign mission structure and just hate Open worlds. Metroid Prime Trilogy does this better with sorta open worlds imo. Give those games a shot with the PrimeHack PC edition on Dolphin emulator if you still have not, I promise its very immersive and lovely:)

The only thing that I felt entitled to with Halo under 343i is just be wow'd and so far most of what 343i has released. Has done nothing but be predictable. Halo infinites campaign is the UTTER last straw. And unless the next Halo feels flawless I really don't intend to buy another halo game I'd rather pay the fans who tirelessly made SPV3 or other overhaul mods. Over paying a company that has for the better part of what almost 17 years been making flaccid halo games.
I am 69 years old, retired to the Philippines because of a late failed marriage that wiped me completely flat. A marriage destroyed by lies, endless betrayal, and this relationship with 343 seems exactly the same. When you get near the end it's normal to look back, and I can honestly say the some of the absolute best years of my life that Halo was a center piece of that.

(Proceeds to release a Halo textured Call of Duty-Apex mashup, the campaign was mid at best, and sidelined split-screen and a lot of other necessary modes; that still aren’t all there; to fund their Fortnite-like Battlepass trend chase)

Halo 4 and Infinite are decent and Halo 5 is still a pretty solid game, minus the campaign and microtransactions.
I think that there is nothing wrong with liking the 343 games. The issue becomes present when people that like 343 games go and feel like criticism of a game they like is an insult to them. For example i like destiny. But i fully invite all criticism of it and agree with nearly all of it.

Glad I found this video. I've recently been on the ropes about re-downloading Halo Infinite because of the new season 4 and this video gave me a clear reminder that 343i simply doesnt care about Halo. They're like the high school student who does the very bare minimum to pass. I have no faith in Infinite or Halo as a franchise anymore. As long as 343i is in charge of Halo it's nothing but a dead series to me.
Yeah all they did was add a basic gamemode and a bunch of mocrotransactions.
To be fair, Martin O'Donnell has plagiarized from other musicians since the early 2000s when he made the OST for the first Halo, AND he has been blocking anyone who questioned him about the comparisons they found, or confronted him on the plagiarism. Frankly after discovering this, he deserves no credit from the 2 decade wait.
343 still ain’t even fixed the audio bugs and balancing for MCC in Halo CE classic and 2 classic, in CE soundtracks loop over each other (especially on the last cutscene🤦♂️) or straight up play for 2 seconds and then cuts off (assault on the control room tank spot). Halo 2 the sound effects and music are just fucked tbh and the music is always way too quiet, and sometimes the voice audio is too loud or too quiet. Honestly ruins everything Marty did for the two games and makes my ears hurt

Not only do classic fans have their expectations set by some of the greatest video games of all times, we provide the Halo franchise with a cult following that are still playing into our 30s and 40s that 343 want to get rid of because of our legacy mindset.
We prevent 343 from pursuing their radical microtransaction fortnite money dream because we're still here complaining because we know good games do not have a freemium economy. We prevent 343 from pursuing engangement-maxxing design choices like open worlds, loot and skill trees which hamper their ability to create a freemium engagement model around their games. Legacy fans are fans of video games first and foremost - and not the the entertainment product story drive cinematic experience 343 wishes they could make. 343 resents legacy fans like us for demanding a cheesy action video game with stereotypical characters and a basic bible in space story when 343 would prefer an emotional human master chief surrounded by a bunch of diverse characters with deep lore that is expanded upon ad-nauseam to make the entertainment product seem more complex than it really is. 343 hates that we prevent them from making drastic changes like turning Infinite into a character shooter Overwatch clone.
You also forgot to mention the time 343 hired a forger from the community and then after he had quit his job, sold his home, moved him and his stuff across the country and placed a deposit on an apartment in Washington informed him he had been fired because he had previously made comments in forge forums being critical of 343 as a dev studio for the direction they had been taking Halo. His name was MultiLockOn if you wanted to look into it.

They ruined halo reach on mcc only having their dlc maps in rotation most notably on big team battle. The fans defended halo infinites battlepass which tells you how much foresight majority of fans have. I mean id pay 70 dollars for multi-player alone if they actually put effort into it instead of this battlepass bs. Still angers me that the majority of fans didnt see a problem with colors being locked behind a pay wall.

Since Bungie is now owned by Sony, and the only two developer teams who could make a good Halo campaign besides them are Ensemble Studios and Creative Assembly. Ensemble shut down from what I heard, so I think Creative should take over the Halo franchise since they did a good job with Halo Wars 2. Anyone else agree?

I have always thought that Halo 5 (excluding the terrible campaign: both story and gameplay) was an ok game that was somewhat fun, however, it isn't a Halo game. There's so many things that were what made Halo unique that got changed/removed. The game was somewhat fun, but it wasn't Halo.
2:10 this is actually a very standard and effective idea when working with nostalgic franchises. People remember things they loved through rose-tinted glass, which means making “just another X game” usually instead means developing something new around the positive aspects players remembered from past games.
Changing the art style was completely unnecessary though
