The part where O'Connor bragged about hiring people who hated Halo stands out to me. Because as this instance glaring exposed what we already knew, they didn't want people who hated Halo, they wanted people who would specifically hate Bungie's Halo. Even with much of the known old guard removed from the studio, I have seen zero change in their attitude towards the players or the deserved criticism they're still getting. The problem is at the company's core and the only way to remove the rot is to either completely gut it, saving what few decent scraps remain or toss it in the bin; I don't care which they do.

Bungie has its own issues too with its corporate culture and how it’s biggest concern is over delivering. A significant majority of the gaming industry is just out of touch with reality and what consumers want.

@@snicki854Most of the Halo devs quit midway through Destiny and almost all of them were gone by Forsaken. Most were replaced by Activision and the rest chosen by the new Bungie. When people talk about Bungie and how they want them back they always mean the old ones the ones who quit due to Activision greed and new Bungie greed not the new ones who are basically Activision's child

I remember a post many years ago by DeeJ essentially telling the white knights to f**k off and how constructive criticism is warranted, even for things that would be tough to implement. I gave up on Destiny around the third DLC, but I at least had a little respect for Bungie with that post (despite everything else about them and the game being shitty).
343i has a well deserved reputation for being extremely sensitive to any & all criticism to the point of hysteria. Remember when their community manager blamed Ukraine for late updates?
Kind of. Obviously not all types of criticism phase them since they've screwed up Halo games 4 times in a row. They seem more reactive to political "criticism" that people whine about like disrespecting LGBTQ+ and shit.

I can't stand 343's defenders (that is coming from something that was one of them, until i gave up on Infinite halfway through season 1 and never came back). The worst part is their are still plenty of them now and they love to justify their stances by saying we are just "haters" or "bungiestans" even when presented with tons of factual evidence that proves 343 was and still is an awful company. I find it ironic when Ensemble Studios was forced to make a Halo game against their will, it turned out to be well received by those willing to play an RTS. 343 Incompetencies which signed up for the task seems to intentionally ignore the look, sound, and feel of a Halo game.

To me, Halo 4 was tolerable. The retcons are dumb and even I hate them, but I wasn't necessarily bothered by the story. Halo 5 did even more stuff I hate, but Warzone and a more advanced Forge mode is where I tolerate. And Infinite is where I draw the line, especially since they're deciding to go the full games as a service route, which should be illegal since games are a product, just like everything else you pay for that isn't deliveries or a restaurant. And to make it worse, they're going woke, which crosses a thin red line for me.
This is so embarrassing funny. This is the reason right here why halo failed with 343. They can't take criticism, or realize mistakes they have made. They go on their own path and nothing can disturb it.

My forum post history is much of the same, constructive criticism of their games and an abject revulsion of the current work climate. That said; no one at 343 deserves their job, 343 can't ruin my life for saying so, and they should not have ruined this persons life either. Ironically, infinite's developers going through more spin cycles than a laundromat insinuates they share a similar opinion to Multi.

Modern gaming is an absolute joke if I'm being completely honest. There are too many bad practices and blatant cash grabs that are infecting the majority, if not all of the AAA games over the past few years. Ever since live service gaming was popularized by Bungie with the release of Destiny and its following DLCs, it's seeped into every corner of modern gaming as we know it. I'm not blaming Bungie/Destiny for it entirely, because the battle royale craze, mainly the H1Z1, PUBG, and Fortnite era, put the nails in the coffin in my opinion. Corporations looked at both of those ideas and decided that every game following needed to have a battle pass system, money-hungry store, loot-based systems, and all of the god-awful features that we hate. Even worse, they release broken, half-baked games that are infested with so many bugs that make it borderline unplayable, but the shop is always working perfectly fine on day one. I'm just tired of seeing the franchises and games that I've loved for so long lose their soul, identity, and passion behind them, just so they can make a few extra bucks on top.

Well to each their own opinion. In my view neither is in an acceptable state.
Major hit detection issues on MCC 8+ years after launch as well as crashes sometimes and other miscellaneous glitches. Awful SBMM as well.
Infinite has major desync issues, a horrible UI, and horrible optimization as well as the whole MTX system.
Like I said to each their own. If you're satisfied with the state of the games and enjoy them I wont knock you. Thank you for taking the time to respectfully leave a comment even if we do disagree a bit. I really appreciate that.

And ironically enough, the gameplay footage comes from MCC, easily distinguishable by the centered crosshair and modded level.
I enjoy the current state of MCC, as well as the Workshop, playing some Halo CE mods gave me huge Custom Edition vibes.

All of this that is transpiring at 343i has to do with the fans who buy into the same product copy and pasted in newer releases that aren't at all new and trying to incorporate unesscessary modern gaming trends that don't fit the halo franchise. Madden is a horrible example of this.
But I really think that 343i is really in a pickle right now by these people who don't care about the design or the funess of any game thus leading to this horrible montezation scheme that true halo fans don't really want or even ask for.

Yeah I felt the same way. At first I thought maybe they were only here to stay to sort of maintain what they released then Microsoft would shove them out but I heard recently they're hiring new people so it looks like they really are here to stay.

While I agree that it’s wrong and he shouldn’t have lost his job over that comment something that has to be understood that almost EVERY job would’ve fired a person for posting something like that. It shows a lack of professionalism. For instance, my step dad is a police officer and firefighter. He cannot post any of his views or beliefs on social media, even if it’s just him saying he disagrees with someone, cus then he’ll loose his state job. It happens a lot in the jobs where you actually make a lot of money. I still agree that it was shitty of 343 to do though and I dislike the way Halo has been handled, hopefully now that most of the upper management has been replaced it gets better.

I got perma-banned from the entire MCC Steam Community, the mod locked the thread, then deleted past posts from me that reported on the D drive bug they just fixed a few days ago.

EA launches a broken Battlefield 4...they fixed it (actually fixed it not 343s way of saying they fixed MCC then leaving in broken hit detection)

Fair enough. I still play MCC for mods too. Alot of people understandably so seem to have misunderstood what I meant by my use of the term 'boycott'. I am not telling anyone not to play the games rather I'm encouraging people not to buy any new crap they put out.

The whole situation is such a mess, and a tragic one at that. Because, there's obviously some people at the studio who genuinely love Halo as a franchise (Like Pierre, and many of the members of the team that fixed many of MCC's problems during the transition to PC, some of which were Halo modding veterans), but they're being represented by shitty people like Unyshek and Jeff Easterling, (and formerly Bonnie Ross and Frank O'Connor) and parented by a corporation with shitty hiring and contracting practices (Microsoft).

Probably the only thing I disagree with this video is is that Halo isn't worse now than it ever was. Halo 5 was bad, but Infinite is worse imo
Oh Halo is worse now than it was but I meant as far as the brashness from 343 employees directly as well as how out of touch they were. They know what we want now and they clearly listened in some ways emphasis on some but they are putting profits before everything else and that is the problem that makes it worse.
I was devastated when I found out that the company wasn't gutted out of existence and instead they were going to work on future projects with 343i STILL.... I truly believe that this cancer that is 343i needs to be removed completely in order for the halo franchise to heal. the sad thing is is that microsoft will not cut there losses because they couldn't be bothered with finding another company and taking them under there wing since 343i is already owned and integrated, it will literally take years to get back up and making games with another studio.... it pains me even more to say this but until 343i is gone, we need to boycott halo starting with the newer releases because its clear this is the only way things are going to get done right. I mean they're are not making it harder to just not play there games considering halo infinite is still a hot pile of mess, and its funny seeing all these people who are supposed "halo fans" saying that the game is better and functioning. The game wont even go above 3k concurrent players IN THE DAY (in america even).... I've been playing halo infinite since launch, IDK WHO SAID THIS GAME IS FIXED you are literally LYING id go as far as to say its just as bad as when it was launched. it took 4 games to not have people leaving the game and guess what, the server crashed and kicked us all out. the game either puts you with people who've never played a game in their lives or youtubers who sweat this game like its a summer workout competition. try and hit a headshot with any sniper? sorry DESYNC IS A THING, Somewhat decent accuracy with mouse? HERES SOME BLOOM, THAT HEADSHOT DIDN'T COUNT SORRY. you seriously have to play with controller so the bloom issue isn't a big problem considering you don't even have to aim cause the aim assist does it for you. no wonder people use undetected cheats like REWASD since I truly believe you need it when facing against higher tier players or teams that only use controllers or else you have no chance against people who use controllers or REWASD. for some reason MNK has aim assist? but its not really aim assist its more like aim DESIST since it throws off your aim at any possible chance you aim at a head and when there is a vehicle or player next to your target making it 100% impossible to hone your skill and improve your accuracy , and there's no way to turn it off, it is a bug that the DEVS chose to not fix considering on paper its "aim assist for mnk" so the pc players cannot complain this time HAHAHAHA. the side kick pistol is the best weapon in the game and its your secondary, the AR has no consequences for just holding down RT and the battle rifle is just as inconsistent as the rest of the guns besides the bandit rifle, i believe that the bandit rifle is the only gun they got right, fair ttk, fair range, fair ammo cap, it doesn't need sights to be good at all. I seen a dev complain about adding more weapons to the sandbox because it would HURT the sandbox when the CINDERSHOT is a THING, like wtf are they smoking. and I'm convinced the people who say halo infinite is back have got to be at least a part of the problem because their copium blinds them so much they literally cannot see what's wrong with the game and then they start defending 343i LIKE WHAT????? talk about stockholm syndrome. I dare anybody to say I'm not a halo fan cause I've been with this franchise since the 360 came out. I was literally 4 years old and I've played all the halos through and through, to say halo hasn't been a key part of my life would literally be a factual LIE, and if I'M saying this then there certainly needs to be a change. it doesn't take a genius to see what's wrong with the game, from the level designs to the core elements of the game. All of this mishap is the result of greedy CEO's and incompitent game devs, literally a recipe for disaster and that's what we got. and again WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG so stop pretending like its the same fans that root for these games that are the same ones that bring it down. ITS NOT OUR JOBS TO MAKE THESE GAMES, we input little to no change to how the game is going to turn out, it comes out how its made and if they can't make a game that will stick with the community then they shouldn't make these games PERIOD. 343i needs to answer for the crimes of these "CASHGRABS" called "GAMES". I've even heard rumors that they were considering putting micro transactions in Halo MCC and i can say that if that ever happens halo as a franchise need to be put down 6ft under FOREVER or at least till new not greedy management takes over #boycottHalo #fire343

Honestly Destiny felt more like a successor to halo (specifically reach) than halo 4 ever really did tbh, and especially more so than halo 5
Halo 5 was such a massive departure in every way which is funny because 343 talked all day about how Halo was 'returning to its roots'

Indeed. I have been boycotting Halo since before Infinite even released. I was going to apply for a job at 343 just after Halo 5 came out but because I noticed a lot of what you mentioned I refrained from doing so despite my love for Halo. Same thing is going on with Star Wars, its just very sad.

To be fair this incident happened years ago. At the same time...more recent Glassdoor reviews still say the management at 343 is horrendous AND as I pointed out alot of the bad people are still at 343.
