- Once again the Halo community has done what 343 Industries is incapable of...making a good Halo game.
Halo Online was a scrapped Halo game that was exclusive to only one part of the world until modders made Eldewrito and allowed us all to play it. Microsoft essentially shut it down back in the late 2010s but now it's back! Yes something Halo is actually back!

@@AnonTDegenerate Project Cartographer makes it better. Not only is the modding great, but it also makes it run much more stable, and it has support for mods. And most importantly for people with small SSDs, it has a reasonable size, no need to download 30gb.

I never thought I would ever see Elderwrito make a grand return. Funny to think it was this mod that convinced 343 to port MCC to PC, and I have no doubt Microsoft will come for it again. I'm definitely installing this and I really hope this gets some attention and more people start playing it. Lets make this become halo's version of Gmod.
They were planning to port MCC to PC as early as 2015. Eldewrito just accelerated the process.
I love MCC and everything it's brought to pc, but the death of Eldewrito was a terrible side effect. It's one of the best online Halo experiences. I have so many fond memories of Eldewrito, definitely going to reinstall now that it's regained popularity.

Windows 11 considers Halo Online to be a virus threat. Nice try Microsoft, you're not fooling me, the amount of times it deleted the launcher without my permission pissed me off, but I got it working now.

@@kabbablabba4073 Yes it is, you just need to use steam compatibility tools. Although I had issues getting the installer to work on my steam deck so I had to download it on my laptop, then I transferred it using usb. Maybe someone else has a better method, but so far so good

343 is part of the problem to be sure, and they deserve most if not all of the criticism they get, but anger also needs be directed some if not moreso at the puppet master Microsoft. There's two ways they can do something: Crack down hard, make 343 stop hiring and firing people quicker then we change underpants, or back way off and let 343 function as a game dev studio. That's my take anyway.

343i is so incompetent that even a corporation as big as Microsoft just ordered the end of support for MCC, like how worthless you have to be to screw up a collection of games that already existed bug free!!! 343 was created BY Microsoft. They aren't going to give Halo to a studio they can't control.

This is why open source projects are much better than closed source/official ones. Too bad Epic Games never handed over Unreal’s source code to the players so they could handle it instead of delisting those games from every storefront.
A slight correction on Halo 5. It’s actually more comparable to Titanfall because that game popularized advanced mobility. Around the same time the CoD community (personally prefer that one purely because my boy Wingo got his start there. There’s this AMAZING video where my boy Da Gunt Ethan Ralph went onto the Lolcow Podcast and absolutely bodied Wings and Boogie. Those two got in a few good shots, but it was like watching Omni Man vs bootleg Justice League in the first episode of Invincible) was complaining about how the jet backs and wall running in Advanced Warfare messed up the core gameplay. Both groups weren’t fans of what happened to the core gameplay. With CoD it gets a little bit more leeway because there’s several side series’s that exist alongside each other. The Spartan Abilities in 5 would’ve been fine if it was a spinoff not a mainline entry, and if they properly designed the whole game around it.
I should get around to playing this. I’ve heard that people are able to do campaign mods in it. That will be cool to see. Let’s hope that since Microsoft have other cash cows from the Activision Blizzard deal they’ll ignore this.

I played the El Dewrito mod a shit ton before it was shut down and MCC was announced for PC. Definitely an amazingly project and im so glad to see its back. Ill definitely be redownloading

I think the reason why I'm as anti-Halo now in general as I am is just cause the community are just a bunch of lemmings. Can I really bring myself to associate with that Halo crowd over there? Probably not no, and the thing I find to be the icing on the cake is that you can tell Halofollower and even someone as wrapped up in 343 as Installation 00 don't even want to cover it anymore. They're burnt out. They backed the wrong horse they did. Not even they want to have a bar of Halo anymore.

Halo has always been “competitive,” and emphasized it more than “casual” play. Look at H2 and H3’s launch playlists, majority was RANKED. What was more popular back in those days and really think about it: Jenga in custom games, or matchmaking ranked slayer. Halo CE had a LAN scene, wasn’t some “party game.”
Except it literally was and the people who made those games described it as such. Sure competitive was a part of it but it wasn't so hyperfocused like it is today. There was room for people to just explore the sandbox and have fun. @@linusnottech

I did like this game but there was something off about how the sniping worked on kbm that was probably never fixed (e.g. like the fov being tied-in with the sensitivity somehow.) I showed evidence and got shrugged off.
also, some server owner banned me because I was running through people in swat and said that I had "typical cheater behavior" by not responding in chat.

The only part of Halo Infinite I enjoy anymore is Squad Battle, but I am on ED now
What I've noticed over the years with 343 titles is how much they keep taking away customization and selling it back. Some emblems and armor were not brought back in Halo 4 and then included in the DLCs and emblems brought back in MCC almost a decade later. Then, in Halo 5, they took away customizing your emblems (design and color) that eventually, when people left, they added it back, and almost 99% of the armor was in lootboxes. Then, in Halo 5, the same thing where everything is locked behind a paywall, but now with colors. Even less willing to budge and more greedy monetization for armors (some armor pieces designed with Nostalgia baiting are locked behind paywalls and $20 to $30 bundles and some are just giant FU armor sets where you cant even customize it... then why the fuck would I even want it?), emblem customization laughable (cant change design and 4 standard colors), coating were locked to cores (not only to sell the color blue which has always been a big fat no but to sell the color blue individually to each item and to sell similar ones later th@t look better... wtf?!), and drip feeding these customization fixes, and the store got more fixes. .. and now the next title is announced in a job posting to be another live service f2p game. I'm already betting emblem customization, armor unlocks, armor colors and more are going to be even more egregious onto of other psychology factors to manipulate further taking away and selling back... aka solution selling. Create the problem, then sell it back. I remember when people had no hype for Halo 6 they literally had to bring the games to pc and add reach to have something to milk because no one was looking forward to the next title. So they used MCC as that small hope for change... and then left it with unfinished seasons and no mod support in CGB. And then they wonder why no one cares anymore. Halo Infinite truly was to a lot of fans their last chance. Idgaf if they replaced the head leader, I don't care if it's on unreal, nothing is going to change with 343 so I have no excitement for Halo 7 or whatever the fuck it is going to be.
Pretty much sums up exactly how I feel. I hate 343. All of them. The company should be dissolved and frankly if I was a hiring manager and saw '343' on anybody's resume I would be really skeptical.
The worst part is what's left of the Halo community defends pretty much all of what you just mentioned. What a sad state we are in. It's why I've largely moved on from new Halo. I only play old REAL Halo. 343s Halo is just shitty fanfic.

They are so much worse than everything else even worse than Star Wars. At least that has some cool things like Bad Batch and Mandolarean (at least the first two seasons I saw) but what does Halo have? Pablo Screibers butt cheeks? Diversity nameplates in MCC? We have NOTHING.

An 343 is supposedly already working on halo 7?? They really abandoned ship on infinite so quickly. I've been playing alot of halo mods lately an I'm so happy the halo community keeps Halo alive.

Finally someone addresses the main issue with 343, I’m tired of that “competitive” MGL bullsh1t that’s always at the center of the sandbox, Halo began as a Party shooter arena and that was his main attraction. Hope this mod can make them see that Halo it’s a Casual fun game first and a competitive shooter later and not the other way around
Sadly I've noticed a few sweats are starting to make their way onto this game. But yeah adressing alot of the stuff no one else does with Halo is a big part of what we do here.

Funny how the only good halo game in 13 years is made by a rts studio who isn’t even fucking in charge of halo🤡🤡🤡. It was their game that introduced an actual interesting faction, and 343 is going to abuse them like the enclave in fallout.

A bit of both. To be honest as I said in the video controller support could be a bit better. Still unsure which input I prefer. I'm more familiar playing Halo with controller but M+K feels smoother.

Yes it does, it takes slightly more effort. You got to use steam compatibility tools in the settings.But I've been playing it on my deck all week, and no crashes.
