I have a bov on my 10th gen civic si for 1 year (1 of the loudest on the market) and still running strong with 111k miles on the motor 💪
i think that rumble is because on the oem blowoff the extra high pressure air got recirculated back into the turbo before the MAF sensor instead of the aftermarket blow off valves which release it into the atmosphere causing the MAF to tell the engine to run richer fuel because it thinks that the air is going into the engine causing a rumble
You can get a recirculating bov. HKS super sequential IV has a recirculating air kit. There are other brand names that have similar kits.
Bishi moto has proven that with the right one it does not hurt the car or anything with fuel

Says not to install BOV but has a burble tune
Tune isnt finished and most of these 11th gens all sound like this with downpipe and the remark exhaust
These 1.5t has pops like this without burble tune

I thought with Anti Surge and a ball bearing setup u can run a BOV reliably? Is VTA bad for boosted cars??
Its bad for the tune and the maf readings
It’s rumoured to be bad in the long run , running a vent to atmosphere BoV on any of the Honda L15 motors because the access surge gets recirculated into the intake stock. The damage most of the time is a burned out cat. However there are BOV kits you can get that recirculate the air like the stock setup (HKS SSIV). There are a few CZcams videos that try and test this. YMMV if you decide to run a VTA BoV on an L15.
Will a simple aftermarket intake filter give better turbo sounds? Or does it need to be a full on intake system?
Filter will give you some sounds, we are on a full open air filter. The PRL HVI will also sound like this, its set to be released in December

So is it a new turbo Honda thing as far as them not liking BOV or truely a MAF vehicle thing? I feel like I’ve seen and heard of plenty of vehicles running reliably with them. Not arguing with the charts obviously just wondering if you think that’s across the board for turbo vehicles.
Ya ecu dumps fuel between shifts due to the air being vented
It’s bc the maf is right after in take. The metered air vents to atmosphere but the engine still thinks it’s there so it runs rich

@@axionind thanks for the response! I see yours is Manual, mine is the automatic cvt. Would mine still sound like this? I’ve seen other people who have cvt modify theirs and it ends up sounding like a pontoon.

@@axionind I still don’t understand how, plenty of videos online proving it doesn’t change a thing and everyone I know in my area they mostly run BOV on their SI’s and FK8’s so I was considering installing one while I wait for my HVI but I wasn’t to sure so I haven’t done it
