Which Turbo Sounds is BEST Turbo Sound? Let me tell you.. THEY ARE ALL GREAT😂 Today we lined up a Battle of the Boost / Turbo sounds so we can choose which route to go with our car, and hopefully help some of you as well! We tested a Blow off Valve, a Recirculation Valve, and a straight Block off plate for the turbo for some surge and stutter sounds on the Genesis to get all 3 turbo sounds into 1 video! When it comes down to results, your ears can make that choice! However, the BOV From ADD W1 is our choice BECAUSE WE WANT BOOST! When you go big boost.. you need a BOV, simple as that! A turbo will destroy itself without a BOV - but on smaller boost applications.. Block off plate all day baby! Which is your favourite?

In the beginning when you put the intake on, the air still recirculates and kinda sounds like a centrifugal supercharger. That’s something I love about prochargers and stuff is that off throttle at high rpm, air just constantly whooshes out. Super dope

Having done the same things, running no BOV will trigger DTC P2261 that will limit your boost to 5 psi until you clear it 😅

@@ian.williamson aftermarket ecu or a good reflash from a skilled tuner. I just run a BOV for now, stock is blocked off.

They make it so cars don't make any intake or blow-off noise because especially here in the states people will take their car back to the dealership over any noise the car makes even if it's supposed to make the noise

I was messing around with my 2.0 TDI and found that if I pinch off the BOV hose I get crazy turbo flutter. Then I tried driving with it like that, and got put into limp mode haha
My Mk8 Molf R makes hella noises with just a intake swap! Made me so happy!
i promise you the second i put cold airs in i went from 24 mpg to 18 mpg average. its just so fun to hear. not too much not too quiet
I run a super tight recirc valve on my Subaru. Also have a nice, fat, aluminum turbo inlet. I get a nice BOV sound on full boost, but get some sweet compressor surge noises otherwise.
yo this is sick, I have a genesis and it’s pretty modded out! Can’t wait to see what y’all do to it
so the OG 5 clyinder quattro cars have a reserc valve that redirects the air directly into the turbo inlet. its also very large, so from the factory they make a beautifully violent "PSSSHHHH", and if you pull the vaccum line to it and plug it with a bolt of the ignition cover it makes group B "stututututututu" sounds
There's absolutely no damage being done to your engine using a block off plate. If anything, it would be your turbo being damaged, but even this isn't true at all.
Multiple youtubers running no BOV/BPV and their turbos last well over 100k miles. Running a block off plate, which is known as "compressor surge", is commonly believed to cause harm to the turbo. However this is nothing but a myth, if you actually dig deep into the subject on google. Turbo's are built a lot better now then they were back in the day, and damage to the turbo is minimal, if any at all.
Also I would highly suggest anyone who is trying to make their turbo spool louder, to look into the t51r mod by OCD works. It is a mod to your turbo that basically makes it to where any turbo will sound like a freaking jet engine while spooling, and make it super loud, with no alteration of the function of the turbo itself.

Going from e90 n54 twin small turbo to an f30 n55 big turbo and now hearing the turbo uff i agree 100% turbo sound not good for fuel economy 🤣🤣 love hearing mine spool up!!
its also not good for the health of your turbo, I have an n54 and I would love to hear stutututu all the time but i am NOT trying to replace my turbos any sooner than needed lol

I love my genesis turbo noises I’m running a HKS blow off valve and cold air intake on on my bk2 pushing 24lbs of boost. Turbo noises for the win!
My 2020 chevy trax 1.4l turbo has no turbo sounds but 60mph + punching it takes off surprisingly good just would like some sounds at some point
the sound they make is what made 10 year old me fall in love with them

I was told, the reason the put re-Direct valve.. I think it is.. is just what you said.. It aids the acceleration.. but it sounds much better to release into the atmosphere.. I have a 2016 Veloster Turbo, and the hose for re-circulation valve is blocked off.. so it vents out.
I am currently printing a siren howler trumpet for my GFB BOV. 🤣 🤣 I had this idea for years but never tried it.

The block off plate with no bov is causing pure turbo surge (nowhere for the pressure to go except load the surge line and escape through the compressor) Engine can handle the couple more psi more then the turbo seals/thrust bearing can handle the aggressive pressure escapes/increased temps. Cool thing to try, but wouldn't recommend sticking with.

As a built big turbo genesis coupe owner it only gets better from here 🤣. If you want oem plus go stuffed turbo and alpha speed tune just keep in mind the bk1 rods are the weak link. Torque is no friend.

On mine I didn't need to put a plate. I just got two rubber chair leg fittings and clamped them on the fittings that suck and blow and got the same sound you get at 10:08

I have a 2015 Mercedes gla 250 and it has a blow off valve from factory and I still get 23 to 30 mpg

Always recirc. Different manufacturers and spring rates change the noise enough to find something that you like. Never failed me yet. This was a good watch
Use whatever is required. If the car uses a airflow sensor you have to recirc or it'll die on hard braking due to flooding the engine. It will also run rich in general even if it doesn't die.

On the bk2 the only way to listen to turbo sounds its actually getting on itt hard
It's not just for fuel economy. There are compounds that need to be recirculated back into the intake so it goes through a cat

I'm hoping the cold air intake makes a difference. A 🦌 removed the stock one and insurance paid for the cold air intake and filter with 5x the surface area.

I'm running the gfb 50% recirc 50% atmosphere on my o2 wrx, not bad with just running cobb tune but peace of mind with a pro tune is the route i ended going. running hks intake, tomei intake pipe, mishimoto intercooler pipe, catless on my quest for sounds. still doesnt sound as good as your set up but its very fun. stock tdo4 duh

I used to have a ford 2013 ecoboost escape SE. I threw a K&N cone filter on it and suddenly it made all the turbo sounds. people sleep on their intakes.

I got a 2006 mk5 gti it needs a little work I’m just trying to figure out why it says “stop engine off” “low oil” “low oil pressure” but it has good pressure, good oil pressure, a new oil pressure sensor, and the oil is topped up, idk why it’s yelling at me every 2 - 3 minutes after the car is warmed up

That one dose come with bov and most stock turbo cars do but they are recerculated so you don't hear them 0:15
