Thanks! As European inhabitant, I almost bought a Durston stretcher and shrinker. I am new in this hobby and like a good start and prefe to pay a little bit more if its worth it. Seems that with the Pepe stretcher with the coinring die, and a self centering coin cutter, i am pretty good to go, as a start.
This craft has come along way in the last 8yrs because of guys like you. 👍
Thanks so much for this video . I’m 72 years old just thinking about trying this thank you very much for all your tips !!!
Thanks Skyler! Just found your channel yesterday, currently binging. I’d thought as a coin collector I would hate this content, but it’s actually just the opposite. I’m free to do with my coins as I please.
I make rings for quite s few coin collectors :) There is only a few that truly have a problem with coin rings. Welcome to the channel!
Very informative, you not only show what you use, but why you use it. Great video.
Awesome to see the passion for your craft. I do believe that GOD has placed in you a unique talent. Thank you for sharing your craft. I really enjoy watching your videos.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO. IVE BEEN SCRATCHING MY HEAD FOR WHAT I'LL NEED TO GET.
Thank you for this amazing video! I am just wanting to get started and need to get my list of tools together. After a car accident many surgeries, lost my career and now living with a disability ring jewelry making will be a blessing in so many ways. I appreciate all you do have a blessed day.
I can tell that you take this seriously. It's one of the reasons that you are a joy to watch! You do a great job.
Thanks!
As far as surfaces to anneal on, fire brick (sometimes called refractory) is a cheap means to an end. Many hardware and builders supply stores carry it. It comes in different sizes, but I get the thinner ones which are around an inch and a half thick. $2.99 each in my local hardware store (Ace). It’s used to line wood stoves, and fire won’t harm it.
Idea I have for you, which I use to polish gun loading ramps on gun barrels. A dental diamond dust in rubber tooth polishing tool used to polish gold caps and such. Great for Dremel tools
I'm sitting at home recovering from my IV ozone and super immune treatments for Lyme+. I have always been a tattoo artist and shown my own shop and I silversmith as a hobby. I haven't been able to work for over a year now. I just happened across this video today and I was so grateful. I'm thoroughly taking notes on a lot of the tools you had on hand. I too just love Pepe Tools. They are such a hands on business. Anyway, thank you for the video and also for sharing that you too suffer from Lyme disease. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, for real. No one should have home health nurses at 39 years old. I hope your little journey is in a remission state and that you aren't suffering too much.
Oh man I'm definitely praying for you! I don't miss all the iv treatments and not being able to work or do anything. You must have seen my back story video on my other channel. I will just leave you with this bit of encouragement. I thought that I was never going to get better, or at most only be able to become functional. I'm telling you this: a few years ago I completely left all those symptoms in the past (hopefully lol. I'm still always worried about a relapse) I'm going to be hiking the grand canyon in a few weeks! That was unimaginable just a few years ago. There is definitely light at the end of this tunnel. Just don't ever let yourself forget it!!
Great info and thanks for sharing. FYI, Thats foundry sand. Although it has clay in it the majority is comprised of sand.
Thanks
Hi, i love the name of your channel, it is so true! in argentina when banks were closed and they robbed their money, people used to trade with jewelry. Coins were less valued than jewelry and also that happened in venezuela.
Wow that’s really interesting and something I won’t forget
I appreciate the lowdown on tools. Durston has gone to China like everyone else. Pepe Tools is still US made, so quality product. It does not save money to buy cheap tools, and then buy the good ones later. Buy good ones from the start. Plus they are a joy to use. Very good analysis and much appreciated!
Really good info thank you for your time 👍
Super Awesome Cool rings. Great job.
Thank You so much Skyler for caring so much.
Very good video. This info is a must for anyone wanting to get into the trade. Thanks for sharing this valuable information.😎⛏⛏🔥🔥
Great video thanks again for your information 👍
Great job on video. Thanks!
I just pre ordered one. Thanks
Great info Ring Tools PEPE THANKS
Thanks Skyler! You rock. You totally got me hooked on starting this adventure! Where do you get the plastic piece that slides in the 1 ton arbor press. You said the new ones have a tab on the bottom that fits in the slot on the arbor press. Thank you!
Right on! I get them from kings coin ring tools on etsy.
Great job and thank you
6:23 appreciate the 100 polish zlotys on the wall. 😊
I ordered the ring stretcher and the plate and your link was worth 10% off. Thanks. You might look at the woodturnerscatalog and check out both the Artisan ring turning chuck and the ring borer it could save time and money.
Right on thanks for the tip!
Great informative video for someone like me that's looking to get into this for Hobby purposes. Do you by chance have any video's on soldering jump rings to Clad coins?
Ok.. this is what i need for..
Nice info.. bro..
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping sovereigns may be suitable
Thank you PEPE! I'm purchasing the stand alone reduction die as soon as I'm done watching this! Pepe makes amazing tools. They get pricey, but if you can hold out, and save the money, it's sooooo worth it. I have my sights of the disc cutter and wire bender right now. Someday... they will be mine.
Helpful videos awesome. With all you video I watch on your channel I have never seen you use that small swedish wrap die you should really make a video using that small one it'll be good to watch and also gives people some information about what they getting you know just saying something for you to have a think about it 👌👍
Great vid bro
Great video!!!! Thanks!!
Great info. Just starting out and was wondering if I got the new Pepe reducing die and an Indian ring stretcher could I use that for folding as well? Or do I have to have the folding dies in addition to the stretcher die plate? At least until I could afford to get a set of folding dies.
Just now starting out.. Think I could learn from you thanks.
Have fun!
Great video 👍
Hi again Skyler, could you give me some tips on how and where to sell the coin rings? Thanks
I got my ring today it's beautiful thank you
Right on thanks!
Great comparison of the ring stretchers. Interesting to see how the Durston units have reduced quality (outsourcing perhaps). Stick with USA made Pepetools and you won't go wrong. Dave.
Durston outsourcing to China so quality has been down graded pepe tools still made in usa 🇺🇸 quality assured
What about the PVC looking rings that you used to put the coin ring into and then put that in the lathe. I assume those white plastic ring pipe looking things were two grip the coin ring while in the lathe to protect it while you board out the inside of the coin ring?
Very cool….Nice job … wow!
Hey Skyler, have you done a video on the Pepe Coin ring stretcher with the reducing die they you designed? Thanks Skyler
thank you for the advised you given , I like to attend one of your class
Nice tools.
Yes very helpful. My question is where can I get that wooden ring clamp you use when you polish some of your rings? Thank you
I saw them for sale on riogrande.com
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint Thank you
Thank you so much
Question, do you recommend annealing a coin before punching or after punching? Thank You
Either way works fine.
hi im in Australia wheres the best place to buy the coins you use for the starter coin rings ty and love the vids
Great stuff thanks.
Just one question, 3 minutes 30. Just in front of the dies.
What do you use the knuckle duster for? 😉
Lol it's a double ring :)
Phew. 👍👍😉
Very good 👍
Vc tem algem no brasil para vemder esas alinças🇧🇷
So you prefer the Pepe Tool ring stretcher/reducer vs the Durston?
Can the coins be stretched into a thin bangle? Thank you.
If I am only getting the ring stretcher for stretching then would it be smart to get the cheapo on that has the crappy die plate?
Sure! The splines can break but I got a ton of use out of the ones I've had.
Hi, I got a 3 ton manual press because it was affordable and it doesn't seem to cut through anything! Do you have a better affordable press sugestion?
So after I fold the coin ring east do I use to make it cinematic
When you measure the ring read side down do you measure the middle of the ring or the line that the reed side is touching
Great question! I measure where the reed side touches. That is the true size of coin rings.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint ok thank you so much... Just sold my first ring!!! Can't wait for the next video I learn something new each and every video!👍
Thank you so much, Skyler for this video! I almost hate to ask, though, but can you give a total cost for all the tools and supplies you covered? I didn't miss that part did I?
Seriously? Use the link given and add up the costs. Don't ask him to do the work for you.
The Master Deluxe Kit (The Whole Gamut!) $1,774.03! And u still have to get Coins for it. He's too cheap to throw in a couple for free. And then Shipping, so about $2G's. Who doesn't have that laying around? No prob, right? Ya.
when I do the Swedish wrap most of the time my coin gets stock in the die, and I do lube the die with coconut oil. what do you think I'm doing wrong?
Nothing at all mine do the same thing sometimes. I just use a brass plunger to push it back out upside down in the die and tilted to get ahold of the stuck ring and push it out.
🇧🇷 interesting , congratulations
First, amazing and awesome video. Second, I am trying to find the "white block" that sits on your Arbor Press; its at the (9:56) min part of your video. Please send me a link because I have looked on Kings Coin and no luck. Much appreciated if you can support a upcoming coin ring maker 🙂
Hi Skyler, I would like to ask that if I were to get the Pepetool stretcher machine with the new die, is there any more reason for me to get the full set reducing die from jasonworks? As shipping those equipment to my country cost a lot and I am trying to buy tools that are essential and not have overlapping purpose.
I would say yes. Jason's dies are still necessary for much of the folding process. You could try folding in the pepe die but I'm not sure if they are deep enough.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint Got it, will try to get it if possible! Thank you so much for the advice Sir!
Been watching your videos for the past few days and I am totally inspired!
Also, do you have a list of the stuff you bought at Harbor Freight?
Hi.. so how much do u expect.. to prepare from nothing to everything ? So that one can start to make a complete coin ring..
Jason: I'm a new subscriber and would like it if you would create a new playlist that would take me through how the tools you suggest in this video are used in creating rings, and another playlist that takes me from beginning to advanced ring making. (Perhaps they're one and the same.) Thanks in advance. You have a great CZcams channel. Greg
Great idea! I'll have to put some work into that idea :)
Well, I hope the sizer you designed works on the India ring sizer, as I bought one today. Got an email that they are shipping it, gave me a tracking number. 😉
They do. You can always take out the center pin if it is too big.
cant you just have the center of the new die machine out
you are the best
Back in my machine shop days we referred to the deburring tool as a whirly bird
Lol good name!
Is there a huge market for rings made from quarter's? I see tons of videos on the subject .. are they lucrative at all?
What do you do with the lathe?
You are awesome 😎😎👍👍👍👍👍👍
I admire the passion you pics for not just the craft but, your tools as well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Ꮚ☆゚.*・。゚
Could you use a Coin Ring Reducing Die from Pepe with the Indian ring stretcher?
Yes!
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint THANK YOU.
where can I get the equipment to make the ring?
Great 👍👍👍👍
Probably wrong place to ask...but. to make a coin ring with a Morgan or peace/walking liberty ....do I NEED to have Swedish wrap dies. ?? And if so which one. I can't do a set during lay offs
Yes if you want to make one smaller than a size 13. I recommend www.jasons.works for the best ones.
What do you use your rolling mill for?
Rolling down silver and gold for rings mostly.
Thank, am keen to purchase, sadly I must ask the stupid question does this work with gold coins or do you get fatigue issues? I reckon it would but never seen gold coins worked. Very thorough vid and great work shop, very jealous, will contact your office 'down under'.
I make 22k gold coins all the time! Pure is not the best though. Check out my gold eagle videos :)
Hi from Denmark.... lot of tools For beginners?
Do you still make and sell rings? I have a silver dollar my grandfather gave me and I’m wanting a ring made from it wide band. Ty
Yes I do! Check out my website www.changeyoucanwear.net.
Mulțumim!
Tak! Meeeen...hvorfor 3 maskiner der kan presse ?
Can you please make a start to finish video on how to make a fat tire coin ring. i know you need the 15degree dies have tried and failed im doing something wrong and a video would help...Thank You in advance
I'll make a note about that right now :)
I know the world has gone crazy.....was wondering if you could Do a video on how to do I fat tire from start to finish including sizing it
did you contact durston? seems like a standup company that would stand by their products.
Will a Pepe die plate fit on the Indian stretcher?
Yes but you just need to remove the center piece from your stretcher. I use it without that center thing and it works great.
The oval die cutter is perfect for making jewelry dog tags
Can you punch a hole in a coin with the Arbor press?
A hydraulic press it the key for that. You should be able to find a cheap 6 ton or similar on Amazon.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint I actually went to Harbor Frieght and got a 12 ton. They don't have a 6 ton anymore. I love it! I am able to use a disc cutter that was really hard to use with a 2 lb brass hammer! But, with this press its like butter!
Can you tell me how much all the tools you sell would cost me. I do not have the arability 10:45 to the internet
You should make a future video called "This Guy" ... ;)
I would love to get into this, but I'm afraid that it would cost a fortune, and then I also would need a much bigger shop.
You can do this “on the cheap” with good results! Of course, if a person is so inclined, you can destroy your bank account outfitting with all the bells and whistles! I think it’s Coinringmaker that has a good vid on getting started cheaply. And it doesn’t take much space either! I’ve got all my coin ring making stuff on a Black and Decker Workmate!
Kagan is the industry standard for professional jewelers for ring stretchers. Pepe makes nice medium priced professional tools but their rolling mills are not even close to Durston.
where can i purchase a set an whats the cost
It's in the video
geez. I cant even afford one let alone 4 lol and no one wont just have jasons works tools if there making rings. I would LOVE to have his tools but of course just like anything you try to do it cost and arm and a leg.
Great things always begin with a sacrifice :)
No 1 ton arbors presses at Harbor Freight in Wisconsin
Harbor freight online has one for you!
I love Bi-Mart.
If you understood rolling mills you would know the difference between Pepe and Durston rolling mills. The metal used in rollers is different quality on the Pepe Mills the Durston. The Durston is harder and is bigger and takes much longer to machine then both temper them after machining them. Pepe is med quality professional Durston is higher quality professional. Master jeweler 47 yrs on the bench.
That might be true but I've personally had 4 duration ring stretchers and I've watched their quality go down in material and craftsmanship. If they are doing it in one tool, I'm not going to roll the dice with another.
I appreciate your insight though. Since they are known for rolling mills, maybe they would be less likely to do that.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint - Kagan is the industry standard in ring stretchers.
@@stevesatow I have one. They don't have the clearance for coin ring makers.
😎👍👍
M your big fan plz send 1 ring for me

Just a FYI... Is it Legal or Illegal to Destroy U.S. Coins and Paper Money? ... According to Title 18, Chapter 17 of the U.S. Code, which sets out crimes related to coins and currency, anyone who “alters, defaces, mutilates, impairs, diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens” coins can face fines or prison time.
