Snkrx dev made that game open source in the end. This game is made from that code, without a doubt.
Yeah this is literally the most similar to the original "inspired by x" game I've ever seen, i literally thought the snkrx dev dropped a new game lmao. This seems pretty dope though.
The code for SNKRX was mostly hidden behind functions and was pretty inefficient, thus the rewrite that the SNKRX dev had planned. I think it's more likely this game is just taking some heavy inspiration
Eh, most of the similarities are visual or UI design related - I think it's more likely they're both just using the same creative commons assets and game engine, that can only generate similar looking blocky animations.
Doesn't look like it; SteamDB detects it as using Unity.
It probably just uses assets from that game, I can't see anything that can be related to that game codewise
The solar knight there is very strong, they were what was causing the full screen nuke
Yeah, solar knight on rank 3 is pretty much a win condition. The chain explosions clear entire screens, couple it with warrior for damage and the wind maiden for attack speed and you almost can't lose.
Shop level ups are purely time based as far as I've been able to tell. Also as a side note, support units are well worth the unit slot, given that the damage one gives 60% damage at max level, 60% attack speed for the attack speed one. That and you can have multiple of a unit that's maxed out. Very fun.
Interesting game. TD is a genre where I am used to classes and it makes the step towards this autobattler upgrading more intuitive for me.
I like minimalist art styles for 360 degree/arena style tower defense games like this. But the font is a tad hard to read.
I just picked up the game, there is a secondary font in the settings that is a good bit more vertical and legible.
Definitely agree it would benefit from a shorter playtime per game. 20 minutes just seems to drag on a bit too much. Granted if there was more to spend gold on for units or otherwise maybe the limit would make more sense.
I think the dev said he was going to shorten the “game time” because of the full build getting hit so early
I think it’s definitely okay meta progress-wise in this game.
I mean, you won your first run on the base difficulty with zero meta progress. I think that’s perfect.
If you can win a run without meta progress and the meta progress either helps less skilled players catch up to you or helps you progress into NG+ difficulties, then I think that’s totally fine.
This game has a lot of potential in it. Honestly been wanting to try many builds, especially when I know you can use the same unit more than once, after upgrading a unit. Though, you don't get the effects doing it, which is a bummer. But could be worse, I guess.

This seems really cool, though I think it could benefit from a mechanic of like, certain damage types being effective on different enemies, and then adding a targeting system. Don't know how well that would work, but feels like it could add more skill and strategy to the game
I mean that's technically already there in a sense
There's big beefy enemies, swarming enemies and whatnot, and different units are weaker and stronger against such enemy archetypes
Also it wouldn't make sense to force damage type weaknesses in like that with a concept at hand that rewards you for building a set of the same type of units
@@gumbarius I guess, but it kind of feels like bosses are the only shakeup. Every different colour is equally weak to same AOE hits
@@gumbarius this is fair, it just felt like a 23 minute run was sort of absurd for a first run where all he did was stack warrior units. I felt the game could benefit from difficulty via damage archetypes, rather than scaling difficulty with enemies having more health or speed. It just felt bland, I guess. Look at SNKRX, there's a huge number of enemy archetypes. Doing it the same way won't work for this game, so it would need to be done another way a la health types.
It seems like it could be balanced around maybe NG++ if that's 10 units and then the meta prog plus difficulty almost cancels out... And/or level 100 could be a thing.
Is this made by the SNRKX dev? Looks extremely similar. Loved SNKRX so Id be down to try another game in that vein.
Magic Survival + SNKRX. I enjoy both games. I prefer the Magic Survival style of synergies over SNKRX's system of leveling

Solar knight was doing the aoe explode, and it's busted. Other then that arctic knight has stupid high dps

Have you ever tried Dungeon of the Endless, Reto? It's one of my personal favourite Rougelike weirdness and is getting a extremely large scale remake in Endless Dungeon.

Nah text in game is terrible
The way I see it you never have the perfect build because you can have multiple of the same unit, but you have to max out a unit before getting another one of it.
either the clock is out of wack or retro spent ~30 min in the shop screen

Arctic knight out damages solar knight once scaling is high enough that the explosions don't propagate as much.
maybe make it cost like 150 gold to buy a new tower slot

This game has great potential, but I really hate manually collecting xp constantly. Feels unnecessary. Plus, I would love to see it changed for accessibility reasons.

yeah, I mean like I mentioned in the beginning, I've had this sitting in my steam library for weeks but I didn't have a timeslot to upload it to until PlateUp finished

It’s a bit off-putting to me the degree that this game is “inspired” by SNKRX… It definitely feels like they’re piggybacking off someone else’s success

Does mythical count as everything or is there another reason it counts as warrior? I am a little confused
