  • Balancing (or synchronising) the carburettors on your motorcycle is an important job. Poorly balanced carbs (and fuel injection systems) will cause your bike to run rough, but using the Morgan Carbtune, available from www.carbtune.co.uk, it's a quick and easy job. This video shows the process for a 2000 model Honda CBR 600 FY, but it doesn't matter whether you have a Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Triumph, BMW, or any other bike -- a vintage classic, or a modern machine -- the steps are basically the same.

We are working on a 1931 V12 Cadillac with dual carburetors. This is the same ( practically, no mercury in this ) one referenced in the
dealer shop manual. Manual states emphatically that you will be frustrated if you don’t use this gauge. 90 years over and still the
best tool to get the job done !

Thanks for the video. It's a help as I begin to do a periodic double check on my 82 Suzuki GS1100G. For me, it's four carbs and three adjusters that throw me. The manual says balance carbs 1 and 4 then 2 and 3, in order of #2 adjuster, then #1, then #3. I've been hit and missing, not figuring how it works. That has thrown me, but I think I finally have figured it out. Also, the lock nut when tightening the idle adjuster, seems to always move a little, throwing the setting off.

This really demystified it all, thank you. I guess if I just got an FI bike it's one less thing I'd need to do but worth knowing about.

This is a good video. Except what screws are you adjusting? AF or is there another screw somewhere else? New to triple carbs. I am used to ATV single carbs.

Great video, thanks. When you've finished balancing the second set to each other, and want to balance them both to the first set, is their one screw to do that, or do you adjust both of their screws and if so, counting the amount of the turn, or eyeballing it off the gauges? Thanks.
I have a 1988 ZX-10, excellent condition, that I'm taking out of storage after a decade or so, and getting back on the road, got come cobwebs to deal with. I cleaned the carbs thoroughly, and now have to tune them.
