    Brilliant information man. Thanks. I thought it was way out of my skill set, and thought I needed expensive gauges. You’re a star.

    This is the best explanation on carb synchronization I have come across on CZcams. Simple easy. Thanks for sharing.

    Very good information. Finally understand why my bike runs fun but isn´t while idling and when it´s cold. Thanks buddy...

    Wow, thanks so much, So much better than the "run the bike and watch the needle jump around within 10 marks until they kinda match the jumping around on the other side, restarting the bike over and over again". This makes sense!

    Great video . Perfectly explained ! I have a 2001 yamaha r6 . Carbs look very similar . Explains why my bike is pulling strong but idling badly between 1k to 1.7k .. idles fine at 2k . Thought id not cleaned carbs properly or sparkplugs bad

    A small feeler gauge or anything thin could also be used to check for uniform gap also. I have cataract in my eye, and looking through doesn't work well for me.

    Very good video, can i just add tho for those with bad eye sight like me 👀 i use a fine sowing needle as a guide for the gap.

    this is same as throttle body sync via vacuum measuring device? i don't have carbs, i have fuel injected bike but need to do TB sync. So, adjustment screw move this plates?

    My bike idles great & starts well on a cold start... Yet it non stop backfires... They look to be similar to the carbs you are holding @ 2:07. The guy I bought it from had them all messed up & i got them to sync fairly well... I just dont know where my air screw is. The exhaust baffles are also out... I know that has something to do with it but would rather turn a screw then to buy a new exhaust..

    Very well explained. How would you go about adjusting if the carbs are installed and you can't see the smiley face

    • @dalehess6265
      @dalehess6265 Před 3 lety

      You would start by removing them then so you can see the smiley face.
      I'm just guessing I can't fix anything.

      @DoityourselfMotorcyclerepairs Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks for your feedback...unfortunately if you have a 4 cylinder bike it's not possible to sync the carbs just by ear...you will need the gauges to do it ...however on twin cylinder bikes you can do it much easier just by listening the exhaust from each cylinder and turn the screw ( it's just one screw in this case) to find the most even sound of the two cylinders...
      fortunately the gauges are not very expensive any more and it would be still cheaper to buy them and do it yourself then taking it to the shop. Hope this helped you and please subscribe if you can ...it will help me out

    If your carbs are way way way out of sync, for example each butterfly is opening more than the other 3 and none of them are lined up, your bike will run really bad, infact it'd maybe suck too much air that it'd perhaps be unrideable?
    I say this as my friend tried to bench sync his carbs and did a terrible job, so when idling his idle goes up and down a little bit by itself, when warmed up its harder to start, when he adjusts his idle speed it either goes too high or too low. Among other things. He literally could not ride his bike his carbs were that out of sync
    If you was to use a flashlight like you did, could you not just close the butterflies so you cant see the light come through and that'd be job done? Then just use idle adjuster to set idle?

    • @DoityourselfMotorcyclerepairs
      @DoityourselfMotorcyclerepairs Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for your comment Ricky, the reason why I don't close them all the way is because they could be closed and you could still turn the screw in some not realizing that you went further than necessary... then when you open the throttle it wouldn't open evenly, so if you leave that tiny little gap you can see/ gauge better that they are even... I hope you will find some other videos I got helpful and please subscribe... it will help me out 👈
