    Good video and I like your videos. I’m an owner operator triaxle dump driver. I’m also my own mechanic. As far as rpms go while lifting, you want to keep rpms low. I keep them about 1200 rpm. Most hydraulic pumps max rpm is 1200 rpm. 1500 probably isn’t too bad. Anything more than that creates a ton of excessive wear and burns the pump out. A new pump will not go up much faster anything above 1200. Just destroying the pump. You are a good driver

      Me too...been in tractor trailers for 9 years but new to this and eager to learn about it all....I am also interested in the weight laws...the federal bridge law would hold me at around 60k gross even with a 5 axle dump....but I think dump trucks are exempt from the law I'm not sure...it is very confusing and not well written in the laws....i will most likely call the state...

      You'll figure it out when you get a ticket LOL. My 1st job was a dump, never drove one before just got in & went.. You can only learn by doing, check your ground, watch out in sand & mud. Make sure you're level & always watch the body as it goes up,, if it leans even a little let it down SLOWLY & get level. Seen too many go over.. Every load is different. If your hauling boulders & rocks they get stuck in the front of the body, Mud or wet soil gets stuck, making the nose top heavy when you dump. Make sure your gate is closed & secured

      1 Set the brakes, 2 Push in the clutch, lift button & engage the PTO. 3 Open tailgate, 4 Put lever in raise position. step on pedal to raise the body. As you get to the top & dirt starts to pile up on the gate Push brakes on & ease forward watching your mirrors.. When it seems the gate is clear set brakes & let the body down, lock gate & make sure PTO is off. I usually take the PTO out as soon as the body reaches full extension .

    There’s new controls now when you drop the bed back down the PTO comes out automatically, that’s helpful for new dump truck drivers. And also like u you said if you’re on a slight angle just raise the bed slowly and it should level out once it can’t go up anymore

    Ok, there is different schools of thought on the drop axle. I see a lot of drivers use it dumping in pavers and piles. I guess I have never used it because the hoist is the problem. If the bed is leaning severe its the hoist that fails first, ita very hard to turn over a tri when the whole truck is in a consistent lean.

      If letting the body down and the lever is all the way in down position and its going super slow. It will need an adjustment by companys machnic.to make it go down faster.

    • @jeremywall7206
      @jeremywall7206 Před 6 lety +1

      With the float axle you can set the pressure on scales to get the proper amount of pressure. You only use when loaded. If you have too little air it will skip when you get on the brakes. I run 35 to 40 pounds loaded. Some people will drop the axle if its leaning badly, espicaly in a paver, I would advise not. If you are in the second stage an it starts leaning, dropping it will get you in trouble. If you're up that high some material should start moving, if so an starting to lean pit it in gear and get out from under it. That drip axle can turn you over while dumping if you are not aware on which side is leaning in relation to the slope of the ground under it. Soon as you stage out drip the pto off lower the bed with it out.

      In my experience, its very hard to turn a tri over unless its stupid leaning or frozen material or huge rocks. Its a piece of cake.

    There’s a pin on the top of that ram. If that pin gets worn out and breaks for some reason the box will push back down and that extended heavy ram is gonna get forced forwards. It can come down through the cab. I’d be careful about how much you lean into the center of the cab

      @Bobcat325  Před 4 lety

      Hi. There's actually a metal flange were the bottom of the ram bolts to sub frame of truck and it wouldn't let it rotate towards cab👍

    • @joehellewell8243
      @joehellewell8243 Před 4 lety

      Fair enough. Lots of different truck setups and such perhaps the one my bosses friend was driving didn’t have that flange. Fully extended ram went right through the cab and his body. I’m always cautious dumping I lean to the left just in case and watch my mirrors.

    But let's not tell everyone that when you finish dumping the load you should get out and make sure you don't have dirt and rocks on the spreader plate so when you're going down the road you aren't blowing people's windshields out. Lol

    What sad is that you should add to the title older trucks, because newer trucks are easier and shitting on these fuckers, especially the one i have, also none of your tires match whats with that is your boss a cheap fuck because that'll get you tickets buddy also all truckers behind you will be blasting their horns because of your time taking so long, so add that to the mix of your video comments to give heads up to the newcomers .
