I owned an ATV shop in Oregon out by the Bandon Dunes and between the racers and the basic ranchers ATV's i tuned quite a few...Your "clinic on what you call "Redneck Tuning" was Very well done and even a non mechanically inclined owner would get his bike running well in a short time....Great Job !!!
Another way to know if your to rich or lean is look at the spark plug after its been in a while. Rich is dark and lean is white/gray. The ideal color is brownish tan
Im gonna be honest with you if somebody cant tell that there bike doesnt run right then they should never touch that because thats a disaster waiting to happen but u did a good job on that video neil...
dude the main jet is the fuel mixture in powerband or high speed. had an issue with mine running to lean at high speed, the bike passed the leak down test so I needed to drill the jet out. It had like a 160 and drilled it with a 170 bit and it runs perfect now and i have the needle notched at the third level up. All your adjusting is low speed. Power wise that dont matter all that much!
Idk where u grew up but round here "bikes" are 2 wheels lmao but great video it's exactly how it should be done! You should do a video explaining Jets and stuff for those who learned from this would definitely benifet from it. Good job
Got a 1989 250 Suzuki Quadrunner. Pulled the carb apart and hot tanked it to be sure the circuits are clear. Having trouble maintaining a smooth idle. Seems the air/fuel mixture screw isn't having much effect when I turn it in or out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi I have a 2000 Yamaha blaster that does not have an alighnment pin (a hole in the side of carb and the slide spins while in the bore) how much is that part? I cannot find it on the Internet. Thanks
Hi i got a Blaster and im running a 280 Main Jet wt. open lid filter and DG Silencer When im Running feels Bogging until it reach higher rpm wath could be i already Clean the Carb and put new Reeds On … i Need to Tune or go up or Down on main jet??
Having the air / gaz mixture too lean, will cost your engine ! Proper setting is peak point, where the engine runs at it's best, then enrich a bit. A slightly enriched mixture, will cool down the temperature when gaz is burning... and that will protect your engine from piston's failure.
Great video, only one flaw. The AF screw adjusts the low speed only not the high speed. Meaning if the AF screw is in more then 1.5 turns you need to bump the pilot jet (low speed) up 1 stage richer which I think factory is 32.5. If the AF screw needs to be open more then 2.5 turns then the pilot jet (low speed) needs to go down 1 stage. Yours is pretty much right on the money between 1.5 and 2 turns out.
I got a 240cc big bore on my mid 90s blaster. It came with a NGK BR8ES 5422 plug, what plug you running out of curiosity and if anyone has any advice on a better plug I'd be greatful. It seems to do good with that plug but others have said they'd run this or that plug for this and that reason but none of them have quads that run for shit and foul plugs so I'm looking for info elsewhere lol thanks in advance
Also my blaster is t snappy top end it's like it's loosing power or sometimes acts like the choke is on when I floor it all the way. Tors is good and carb is clean
my idle screw in the top of the tors unit i think it is broken so i cant set the idle and if it is 1 1/2 turns out it dosnt idle it revs up and it dont stop reving up so i haveto turn the screw back in ill get a video of it
Ok on my blaster when I start it up cold it will idle just fine but if I rev it up or ride it a little bit and get it warm it will idle way too high. What should I do.
I have a ? My 1989 blaster revs really high when I turn it on, so I turned the air/gas mixture screw all the way to the right and it still revs high when I slowly turn it to the left( I have a k&n intake and full fmf exaust)
Where's the idle screw if you haven't eliminated tors and drilled it? (2002 blaster) mines idling high from the previous owner like really high and I don't wanna mess with it a screw it up
Robert Tadic I did the top end rebuild and berly receive any compression just a lil, I don’t know if it needs a carb adjustment or if it’s the piston that not giving it the compression
He does that to keep track of how far out you are setting your pilot screw. 3 would be 3 full rotations [or turns] out. It's such a fine tune that you need to keep track of the turns

This is one of the best carb adjustment videos I've ever seen.. worked on my 94 kodiak 400.. thx bro
This was actually really helpful thank you
Thanks for this video it helped with my 125cc quad bike.
Excellent video! I never knew any of this!
Just have to say it helped with my 02 blaster
Another way to know if your to rich or lean is look at the spark plug after its been in a while. Rich is dark and lean is white/gray. The ideal color is brownish tan
Bravo this is a spot on way to explain the adjustments I think you have helped alot of people
A trick : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Ronan Zaid yup, I have been watching on flixzone for years myself :D
@Ronan Zaid definitely, have been watching on flixzone for months myself :D
The ring that you are adjusting is it the thing that let's more a in the engine ?
Great video

which box did u unplug? ill make a video tomorow already have the hood off my blaster and ill explain what the tors system does
Idk where u grew up but round here "bikes" are 2 wheels lmao but great video it's exactly how it should be done! You should do a video explaining Jets and stuff for those who learned from this would definitely benifet from it. Good job

which way should i turn the idle screw under the seat ???????
It helped me put

Just bought one, so if it runs at a good idle i bump up a bit or dont move it?

thanks man i had later figured that out after the vid i apreciate the post
So you put the screw all the way to the right to start then come out 1.5 turns?

What jet did u put in it? Also what elevation?
Thanks
Also my blaster is t snappy top end it's like it's loosing power or sometimes acts like the choke is on when I floor it all the way. Tors is good and carb is clean
air mixture screw seems in to far
Helped me but I need a crank seal on magneto side
my idle screw in the top of the tors unit i think it is broken so i cant set the idle and if it is 1 1/2 turns out it dosnt idle it revs up and it dont stop reving up so i haveto turn the screw back in ill get a video of it

Always tune it when it's warm
Make sure you test your throttle to see if there is a delay in response.
So does this stop the bogging? Because my banshee Boggs on take off when I’m racing
Adan Munoz yes just do both the same turns if they are the same carbs
I have a ? My 1989 blaster revs really high when I turn it on, so I turned the air/gas mixture screw all the way to the right and it still revs high when I slowly turn it to the left( I have a k&n intake and full fmf exaust)
issMarc * could have an airleak , have you done a leak down test ?
U have a airleak..
I want a banshee so bad
the idle bolt doesnt change the speed of the atv it is to tune the engine to run faster at idle to prevent stall
Where's the idle screw if you haven't eliminated tors and drilled it? (2002 blaster) mines idling high from the previous owner like really high and I don't wanna mess with it a screw it up
if side of the carb if u cant find it most likely its not there just un adjust the trottle cable up top a but
Try cleaning the carb with some s100 from a yamaha store it hardware store
Eres un neofito , esa es la esprea de mezcla de relenti y el ajuste correcto es cuando alcanza las maximas rpm 1/4 mas de giro hacia afuera
take off the front hood there is a small box on the top right just unplug it and your good
I need help w my 2000 Yamaha blaster 200 it won’t start I have new spark plug new top end new carb but no compression?
Probably needs a top end rebuild, it's really easy to do and not pricy, that would explain your lack of compression.
Robert Tadic I did the top end rebuild and berly receive any compression just a lil, I don’t know if it needs a carb adjustment or if it’s the piston that not giving it the compression
@@iggmoneysoles4606 ouch, did you break in the motor?
Robert Tadic well it didn’t start so I can’t break it in unless I was suppose to break it in before which I believe I’m not suppose to
@@iggmoneysoles4606 Did you get a new cylinder and piston/rings?? Did you get a oversized piston/rings and bore it?
Mine can go Max 90 but why does it Only go 45?
On
Will this damage the engine
No
Didn't work on my Access Streak :/
So just follow this video and I'll be good? sweet videos by the way I've seen a lot of em
basically yea and thanks mAn
also i have an exhaust leak where my header connects to the engine its just the gasket. will that take away power
it could. but not in most cases, causes backfiring ,,noise ,and hard starting in some cases.... a pain in the ass as far as heat goes
Kurtis Snyder
yes, use ultra copper silicone and seal that leak.
Roy#22
l trashed the stock carburetor & put a 28mm keihn on my 2004 Blaster. Huge difference & easier to rejet with a clamp on filter.
Where are you from lol my brother fucked with my tuner on my bike and now I would like to know how to fix it with hands on
Hands on work
thats why its not running good buy the throttle over ride kit for like 30$ and install it that will help
i dont really know how to get rid of the tors though do yuo just unplug the wires?
N cut wires
it was the tors box not cdi im not that dumb lol
what the difference again between : half, one ,one and a half and just 3 full god damn turn???
He does that to keep track of how far out you are setting your pilot screw. 3 would be 3 full rotations [or turns] out. It's such a fine tune that you need to keep track of the turns
i did that before and it didnt run
Great video, but you speak too slow...might want to speak a little quicker there dude....
