It’s true, Kakashi and Guy are the best rivalry in Naruto. Guy might’ve been “sidelined” as Kakashi went through the Anbu. But let’s not forget who talked to the Hokage multiple times to get Kakashi out of the Anbu when it was the right time for Kakashi to leave. Might Guy. The dude is truly a dedicated man, and Kakashi is lucky to have such a great friend.
Guy has the best ninja name in Naruto. Its like nobody. Just some guy. Yet hes like really the strongest.

There's this subtle smile he gives a few times in the anime that i feel truly embodies that name and how i see him. I first saw it when he was watching Rock Lee fight Garra. First time watching i took at it at face value. The pride of a teacher watching his student carry on his teachings/heritage. But later in the anime when it showed his first time meeting Kakashi i noticed that subtle smile again and i always interpreted it differently or perhaps more deeply.
At that first meeting Kakashi underestimated Guy. He lives in a village of ninja killers and he this so called child genius totally Focused on his conversation with his father. And turned his back to him. No acknowledgement what so ever. Then guy smiled. Kakashi was wide open. He thought of him as just some guy. Completely dropped his guard : ]
Rewatching Rock Lee vs Garaa and seeing Guy smile like that again i no longer saw it as him smiling only in pride for his student. But smiling that between the weights, the gates and their strange behaviour no one truly saw Rock Lee for what he was truly capable of. That subtleness to the point to deception itself is... a splendid ninja?
Lastly when Guy opens the 8 gates and Kakashi simply says his name 'Guy' so much emotion in that one word because at this point we all know the truth/ You can hear the distress, sence of value and fear of loss Kakashi feels and all he said eyes wide open watching him was Guy. T_T

@@jams1070She probably did know. Hiashi disowned Hinata around the time when she joined team 8, and Neji was branded much sooner. Also, I believe Nick misquoted the manga, because it states that on the 3rd birthday of the next hyuuga leader the side branch members are branded with the curse mark, not when they are born. She was probably taught between the ages of 4-10, because she definitely knew, due to the fact that before she was disowned, she was very loved and appreciated. It would also be cool if she chose not to use it because she wanted to win and beat neji, not torture him into insanity with methods that he has no control at all over

Sasuke and Naruto are still each other's rivals in Boruto. They have even made the rivalry go outside of just battling each other like Guy and Kakashi. After Boruto defeated Momoshiki, their rivalry came up. They have been keeping score just Kakashi and Might Guy.

One of the scenes that gave me chills was the team up against Momoshiki. Say what you want about Boruto, but it was so cathartic seeing adult Naruto and Sasuke team up, not grudgingly but actual friends, the rivalry having come full circle. It was great.

Sakura and Ino's rivalry is so much deeper than that explanation. They both like the same guy, so they follow down a path that they would have never really cared about naturally... until Sakura is beaten by Ino, loses Sasuke, and her abilities lack. Sakura becomes a great ninja after not wanting to be left behind and takes her ninja training so serious that she is near OP. She repairs her relationship with Ino.
Ino mirrors the rivalry by having everything that Sakura has except Sasuke... a strong bonded team. Ino beats Sakura but still does not gain Sasuke. She can't keep up with Sakura. Ino finally realizes their rivalry is trivial and asks Sakura for help (rivalry no-no). She then becomes the best in her clan. They both humble themselves and resolve their rivalry like adults... for the better of their friends and village. It is similar to Naruto (Sakura) and Sasuke (Ino). Even in Borato, that similarity still runs. They all chose a path to protect the village and found true love.

When I heard Sasuke Naruto 3 and Hashriama Madara 2, I was fully expecting Indra and Asura at 1.
Their rivalry sparked from literal blood-relation brotherhood and fundamental differences in how to achieve peace, not to mention jealousy of course. It spawned many of the motifs within Naruto, such as the aforementioned peace and the curse of hatred as well as the plot and lessons that surround it.

We don’t get to see any of Asura and Indra’s rivalry. There’s nothing to go off of here except some of the exposition given about them. It was likely one sided anyway, since one simply values relationships as a form of strength while the other only sought strength.
Honestly, with Gamabunta not being in the first Valley of the End it makes sense. Yes, Naruto should have done everything possible to get Sasuke back. But Naruto also wanted to prove to Sasuke how strong he had gotten with his own power; the summons have their own chakra separate from the user's chakra. It would have made it a 2 v 1 when Naruto wanted a 1 v 1.
It's also unclear if Gamabunta would have even helped Naruto in this fight. I think that depends on how he viewed Jiraiya's and Orochimaru's falling out. If cared about it and didn't want a repeat, he'd step in. If he didn't care or viewed this as 'sometimes you have to let people walk their own chosen path' then he wouldn't have helped and therefore a waste of chakra to summon.
Honestly I would've loved this interpretation like Gamabunta seeing how Jiraya became desperate and obsessed with Orochimaru and seeing Naruto doing it he would just tell Naruto " let the kid go or Kill him, bringing him back would do nothing" and Naruto would just reverse the summon at that point
To be honest Indra and Ashura had the most major Rivalry because listen to my reasons they kind of hated each other so much that they reincarnated over centuries only to die again and again until Naruto and Sasuke Indra believed he was superior and prideful of his differences from others finally he and Ashura took until Naruto changed Sasuke’s path over multiple centuries until both of them finally sat down and said I forgive you yeah the most major rivalry.

Sakura and Ino weren’t showing off their powers to win over Sasuke, it was only about them! Sakura looked up to ino until the chunin exams and wanted to show her that she can do it without her , she can stand up for herself on her own without ino protecting her. She wanted to end the cycle where she depends on others

They still cared about each other but were putting up a front not to lose to each other which is hilarious 😂 sakura literally tears up when ino comforts her after their battle saying “sakura you’ve bloomed into a beautiful flower” acknowledging her as an equal. I think people missed this part
I agree with most of the thing you said, but you might want to remove the part that "it was only about them", because it's definitely sparked from their crush to Sasuke, they definitely have a love rivalry going on, and they definitely battled each other with the winner getting Sasuke in mind, I'm pretty sure the manga and show made it very obvious

I hate how they handled Sakura and Ino’s rivalry, and the fact that we never got a rematch. If I’m not mistaken,Kishimoto said back in early Shippuden that if Sakura and Ino fought against it would just end up in a draw again. I’d want to see that because you got Sakura who is an expert medical ninja and super strength (well, really good chakra control), and Ino who is a good enough medical ninja, smart battle iq and great with poisons. They both know so much about each other that I can see Ino not getting one shot, one shot, and Sakura being weary of her surroundings, and it would be a great fight to see even if it was filler. Heck even in their official bios, Sakura still wishes to fight Ino, and Ino wishes to fight Sakura
Yeah, it was watered down to what you would see in almost every romance medium. It had the potential to be a really good rivalry, but after the third episode I was loathing every scene where they verbally lashed out at each other. But Sasuke really isn't blameless, either. In that one scene where all the girls were looking at him with hearts in their eyes (somehow Shikamaru was among them), he should have glared at them like "stop staring" to scare them off. That would have given Sakura and Ino something else to compete for instead of a mysterious guy who has no interest in socializing.
Seriously, if Sakura and Ino were treated like Sasuke and Naruto it would have been amazing.
Having a rivalry in the show that was rooted in a lost friendship and being two less gentically exceptional women in a village full of extremely genetically and otherwise exceptional mostly male nin would have been really cool.
Plus, both Ino and Sakura have very normal childhoods without a ton of trauma/pain/loss, I feel like them contrasting with the very heavy backdrops and antagonists of the other rivalries (like Naruto and Sasuke) would be interesting.
Sakura and Ino could be more aware of their 'privilege' (by which I mean their needs being met and having a lack of trauma lol) in comparison to Naruto, Sasuke, Neji, etc. It would be cool to see them learn from those with different experiences (instead of being oblivious) and also bond with other nin who had to work harder like Rock Lee.
Plus having a relationship where Ino and Sakura are rivals with Sasuke not being the catalyst all the time would help the writing for female characters a lot for this series.. one of the biggest issues I have with it tbh.
They are totally different now... one being top tier madical ninja with super strength while another is just support ninja who can fight in certain teams like ino-shika-cho only! Its dead!

Before you even got to number 4 something was telling me Kakashi and Might Guy would be #1. I honestly agree. They have the perfect Rivalry. Always pushing each other to be better while still remaining best friends. Without the trying to kill each other and the toxicity the rest on the list had. 💯

There's a good chance I'm misinformed because I watched the dub instead of the sub and never read any of the novels, but I always thought Hinata's motivations were a lot more wholesome than clan dignity. I don't think she ever mentions her clan as a motivation in the anime during any of the heartfelt internal monologues that everyone in the show is always doing lmao. I always loved hinata as a kid because while a big part of her character is defined by sort of a hopeless crush on a boy, it's for the right reasons. It's never explained why Sakura and Ino like Sasuke other than "he's the coolest boy in school who ALL the girls like." But hinata falls for Naruto because she sees him struggling against his disadvantages and refusing to give up, which inspires her to keep pushing against her own disadvantage-that being the harsh judgement of her father and the resentment of her cousin, Neji. Her motivations have always seemed to stem from a baseline desire not to be seen as weak. Later in the show, as she continues to watch Naruto achieve hefty feats of honor and both of them mature and deepen their personal convictions, I think her desire to be strong starts to be for the sake of protecting the ones she loves, especially Naruto. This is highlighted in the Pein arc when she steps in to help him, and I'm pretty sure she actually says out loud (or maybe just thinks to herself) that all she wants is to take some of the burden off of Naruto. Rather than to impress him, she just wants to gain his respect and become more of an equal so that she might be able to help him and others. Honestly Hinata and Naruto makes for a pretty good one-sided rivalry if you consider how much he drove her to improve and how young it started 😭 but maybe that's a stretch...

In all honesty even though the indra and ashura rivalry basically was the pillar of the naruto stoyline build up, it doesn't come close to madara and hashirama,

I definitely prefer a fun rivalry over a more serious, deadly one. Not only because it’s fun and lighthearted, but because there’s always room for improvement, and until old age or death there’s always room for improvement.
Surprised Rock Lee & Sasuke isn't on the list. Rock Lee being jealous that Sakura never looked at him the same way as Sasuke was something that went through most of the show.
There's got to be an Honorable mention section for rivalries for people like Might Guy vs Kisame because that "rivalry" is hilarious 😂
Just starting.. my vote for number one is guy and kakashi. It's light hearted and intense at the same time, while slightly one-sided until guy goes full 8 gates and we see why kakashi never bashes guy. Second for me is rock lee and neji. While the show pushes this idea of any knucklehead can overcome their life stance and rise up to great heights, Naruto is the worst example of this. Which isn't unusual for these stories. However neji and rock lee are a great example.

12:20 So I have a question, if Neji didn't get his curse mark, and as you said, any other member of the side branch, until Hinata was born, wouldn't that have lead to a lot of Byakugan that could have been stolen since there would have been every Hyuga between Hyashi and Hinata that wasn't branded with the curse mark, so roughly 30 years worth of eyes to be taken? Or is it a different mark that seals the eyes than the curse mark that allows the main branch to control the side branch?
That's why there's special hyuga arts... byakugan is not really easy dojutsu, even if get it - to sharp it is the main goal unlike sharingan (but ofcourse there are prodigies) but also many low branched hyuga dont even get that good of a byakugan!
And he's mistaken. It's on the 3rd birthday. But if there weren't heirs they probably just loaded them up as they went

For me having a rival doesn't mean knowing them, granny chiho and tsunade probably knew each other name, and their rivalry push them to increase their skill, chiho with poison and tsunade with healing so for yes they are rival

I have to admit that I actually like the rivalry between Sakura and Ino... first Sakura wanted to impress Ino than they fought over the same boy afterwards it was the eager to be a better medic or ninja in general than they turned into wives and wanted better the other one in this regard (cooking competition) now they both run major parts of the village and are mothers and still have their friendship rivalry...
All of these rivalries last for about 10-20 years, with Hiruzen and Danzo’s lasting about 50. While Madara and Hashirama had one going for like 30 years, once Madara revived himself, the only 2 things he thought about for nearly 70 years was becoming stronger then Hashirama and fighting him one more time and creating a new fucking universe. The second they saw each other again they were back at it. Their rivalry is kind of like Danzo and Hiruzen, because while Madara never wanted to be Hashirama, he was always envious of him being stronger. In the end, even though Hashirama never got to see it, Madara surpassed him and became very close to literally god. When god (Hagoromo) summons Naruto and sasuke and releases edo tensei, Hashirama goes straight to madara who has been spit out of kaguya, and Madara, knowing he and Hashirama are going to die at any moment, does not proclaim superiority over Hashirama, but they die as friends.

Okay very very out there theory but what if… the creator of naruto wanted tsunade, orochimaru, and jiraiya to be a Nara, akimichi and a yamanaka? Since their sensei is a sarutobi I feel like it could be feasible that during their development he based their og design of them as an ino, Shika, Cho but then scrapped it but kept some of their resemblances to that og design. Bc looking at them orochimaru somewhat resembles a Nara, tsunade somewhat resembles a yamanaka and although jiraiya looks nothing like an akimichi he does a small amount. Any thought?😢

"Madara is forced to accept Hashirama as an ally"... nope. Madara was defeated by Hashirama and gave him a choice for the future, he was not forced at all. Madara was simply trying another way of life, that of coexistence which would later find out to be impossible to pursue, maybe leaded astray by black zetsu with the tsuki no keikaku. Madara joined Hashirama and founded Konoha on his own free will.
I don't think he ever believed that he should've been hokage either. In fact, I'm pretty sure he saw how much love hashirama had for the village and wanted him to be its leader instead when hashirama made the offer to him. What restarted his grudge was when he overheard tobirama and hashirama arguing about it, and tobirama said that the people still feared and distrusted madara and the rest of the uchihas. It reminded him why he was hesitant to become allies with the senju in the first place: the fear of never being able to trust one another because of their history as blood rivals.

Tenten and Temari could have been great rivals with each other after the chunin exam. Temari has the cocky attitude and Tenten had the drive to be as good of a kunichi Tsunade
Sakura and Ino's fight is very misunderstood. It wasn't really ever about Sasuke that was just an excuse Sakura came up with. Sakura just wanted to get stronger and stop living in Ino's shadow, who was a Yamanaka clan member and heir to the legendary Ino-Shika-Cho, while Sakura was bullied for not only her looks but also for the fact that she is a nobody. Sakura wanted to be Ino's equal and she realised that she would only stay as a "bud" while Ino is a "bloomed flower", she knew Ino wouldn't see her as an equal. That is why them going to a draw is actually pretty symbolic. It is also why Sakura wants to wear their headbands normally to fight as equals, this is something Naruto tried to do with Sasuke to. It is very impressive that Sakura managed to fight as equals and go to a draw against Yamanaka Ino with... literally no training from Kakashi. Their rivalry could rival Naruto and Sasuke's but Kishi loves to NOT write women and only write potential ;-;
But yes their fight is very boring god damn they deserved so much more than what they got... All of this could be shown much better than them doing the exact same moves. They could instead just do different attacks but always have it blocked by the other. The flashbacks were unnecessarily long and failed to get the point across for most people. It is much better in the manga but most people don't read it or don't care for it so.
Also please don't make their fight about "showing off to Sasuke" he of course had a part in it but it was also very much about the two of them.
Just by the title I already know the number one rivals has to be Indra and Ashura. Their rivalry span generations and even came to an amicable end through their last reincarnates. But, let's see if I am right.

I only watched Naruto for the first time the other week blasted out Naruto and shipundo and loved it currently got 30 odd baruto left till up to date and a bit nervous for what’s about to happen but must say I’m not to happy with all the tenten abuse
