I actually bought a LTT Screwdriver as a birthday present for my brother. After trying his out, I bought myself one and a couple more as gifts for my tech friends. A few of my gearhead and camping enthusiasts' friends went out and bought their own after trying mine out.
So you just causally went and bought 4 screwdrivers for $280?
As a tech enthusiast and master auto tech, the LTT is my favorite screwdriver. Would mostly use the LTT in interiors as exteriors need a little more heavy duty and specialized drivers (screws on brake rotors and such), but it is still my go to around the house and even professionally when I can.
@@mxmeulogymxm Screws on break rotors? I've never seen such a thing, not saying there isn't.
@@sategllib2191 mostly on new cars there is a small bolt or screw that holds the rotor in place for assembly. I dont think many mechanics reuse that when the put on new rotors, since the wheel also clamps the rotor

That's NOT happening.
The idea of a video where Linus and Luke drift with Sammit would be insane. Even though it's off brand for LTT, a once in a blue moon video of an off topic adventure sounds awesome. Like, I think we can say that most people watch for the personality of the crew probably more so than for the info provided. No writers or scripts needed, write off some the trip as a business expense, take whoever would be most fun with or who would appreciate the experience most, and just have an amazing time. The real emotion of it would make for some great videos.
That's just Channel Super Fun with extra steps. Wait, no, I think I'm wrong. It's probably the same number of steps. Basically, support channel super fun is what I'm saying.
The wife bought me a screwdriver for Christmas, and I've been taking it to work (Manufacturing Automation). My customer picked it up one day and loved it. First time I've ever gotten a comment on a tool. I've got to put an order for 3 of them this week to ship to their team.

StarForge was so right about them testing FPS on CSGO. Still a weird pick to benchmark it in 2023 when it can run on basically everything at this point.
its a game that a lot of people play and therefore have experience in what kinda fps to expect so it makes sense as a pick
It's heavily CPU bound so in some cases it's quite useful to test, also it's popular and acts as a good frame of reference.
If your system is averaging 170fps in csgo, and the card in a review is getting 250 FPS, then you know it's better (in that game) right? :)
CSGO is such a known quantity at this point you can eliminate variables like games not being optimized, not having game ready drivers, etc. Makes perfect sense to use it as a benchmark. Plus as others have said it's popular so a lot of people thinking about buying a prebuilt will find those metrics useful

That part about using the ratcheting mechanism instead of turning the barrel using the knurling is something I'd switch between depending on the situation. Turning the barrel is fast, real fast, so while the screw turns lightly enough that you can turn the barrel with two fingers that's the fastest way to turn the screw. Once it gets to hard you switch to the handle and use the ratchet as this allows you to exert more force. I work that way even with non ratcheting screwdrivers so it feels natural.
By the way here's a tip for anyone building a lot of computers. Get really tall screwdrivers! A barrel of about 12 inches is perfect. That way you have a large grip area on the barrel and can spinn it using two hands which is just that little bit faster than doing it with one hand. Oh and get a Phillips No.1 and No.2, both 10 to 12 inches. Then double up with Pozidriv versions and if you want more then get the corresponding JIS versions. With these six drivers you will have the correct driver for the absolute majority of all crosshead screws you will encounter in computers. If you are going to work on portables or phones you will have to get more drivers for special screw heads and very small versions of Phillips, PZ and JIS.
It can be hard to see the difference between Phillips and JIS, but they are not quite the same, and having the right driver can save you from camming out. Usually there is a small dot on the head of the screw if it's JIS. These are surprisingly common once you know what to look for.

Luke I always use the krnurling to spin the shaft as it's a smaller diameter than the handle. It's faster that way.

Starforge recreation was hilarous
Wire EDM, yeah, it's a form of subtractive manufacturing, but really, really fine. Also called "spark erosion" coz that's what it does; literally removes micronic amounts of material at a time by using an electrical charge.
Project Farm did the most objective review of the LTT screwdriver and others of similar spec. Linus and Luke should've watched that review.
They've definitely watched it. Not long after the release, they mentioned they were relieved that Project Farm and other initial reviews were mostly positive.

I find I use my ltt screwdriver for most of my rc cars aswell. I rarely ever use any other driver when working on my rcs now.

Whenever people talk about Starforge's logo, it makes me think of the movie "Death to Smoochy" and the "rocket ship" cookies.
When I saw their logo on the thumbnail for this video I literally thought it was a phallus. Before this I had never seen it or never heard anyone mention it. So it indeed does look like that.
Linus crossing to the car community is something I never knew I needed.
I've been using the Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver for over 35 years and my current driver is 30 years old. I'm seriously considcering getting the LTT screwdriver. I have the 3 screwdriver set with the plastic case which is kinda nice but bulky so a nice simple single screwdriver would be nice since I'm not fixing aircraft or vehicles anymore. I'm still a tool junkey.

I am a mechanic myself and bought the LTT screwdriver to use at work. Once I got it and felt the finish of the plastic, I decided not to use it at work since I felt it would either degrade when exposed to different automotive fluids, or become hard to use/slippery when exposed to fluids. HOWEVER, I started using it on interior bits and pretty much anything that doesn't involve being exposed to chemicals/fluids and I absolutely LOVE the screwdriver. The backforce, the fell in the hand, the built in bit storage (as well as the fact it accepts bits from other manufacturers), and I am very glad I bought this. I have been wanting a ratcheting screwdriver for years, but couldn't justify the price that Snap-On and other manufacturers were selling them at. Plus I really like orange, so the orange and black is a plus as well!

You can ADD material to a part pretty easily by REMOVING material from the mold... So they could add a knurling texture easy enough but he's right that it's a one-way decision.
For the handle texture, why not just have an rubber overmold. Just dip the handle in rubber.
