    STRAIGHT UP DREAM HOME: It's a treehouse, I'm not sure where yet, but preferably somewhere warm. It has a staircase to get up and down but also the option of a slide. There's a nice giant swing attached for summer days and a perfect shady spot under the tree for picnics. Me and my nine sausage dogs are very happy there. Alfie Enoch hopefully moves in soon too.

      I litterally drew that house when I was a kid ! It also had a trampoline to get inside (stairs were boring apparently) and you landed on basically a bed-floor.

  • @nickc2011
    @nickc2011 Před 8 lety

    A dream house would probably either be a treehouse community in the middle of forest, an abandoned temple high in the mountains, or some kind of floating hut off of a pacific island. Whatever it is, self sufficiency is key - hunting, farming, keeping animals. Alternatively, I saw a New Lives in the Wild where a couple lived permanently n a boat and sailed around the south pacific - I have to admit that looked awesome.

    In Hamburg we have this hole warehouse district wich has been converted. Most of it is over 100 years old and you got streets on one side of the buildings and canals on the other. It is totally different from what you describe. It's been converted to real flats besides of the other uses like some tourist attractions and carpet dealers.

    When I was studying in this private art school in Finland I lived in a house with 15 other people I think. I shared a smallish room with a roommate (every room had it own bathroom), there was those communal areas and yeah. You learn a lot living like that! And I'm currently living with two roommates. I like living with roommates, but having my own hole to crawl into in the apartment is nice thing too.

  • @robinscannell
    @robinscannell Před 8 lety +2

    People live in warehouses? I didn't realise that. I can relate to never living anywhere for long since becoming an adult.
    I think the dream home is a modern apartment in a place that has everything right there, like a roof garden and a gym, and lots of space, while being as close to a central train station to take you into London or away into the countryside within like an hour.

  • @coombeslauren
    @coombeslauren Před 7 lety +2

    As someone born in London it's really frustrating how living in a warehouse is probably the only option I could afford, but definitely isn't one that I'd enjoy. My home city is so expensive that I can't afford to leave my childhood bedroom and it's infuriating -.-

  • @Honkwaddle
    @Honkwaddle Před 8 lety

    Dream living situation (if money wasn't an issue): solitary house looking out over a wide green valley, with a large conservatory/glasshouse and grand piano. Having grown up far out in the countryside, I don't think any level of practicality/ease of sociability of the city can ever truly outweigh living within a beautiful landscape for me. Each to their own of course :)
    Hope the move is okay! I'm sure once you all get together as a team you'll find it much less stressful.

      @Mad.E Před 8 lety +5

      true, I just thought "I live in an unusual house with many people who are neither family nor friends" is something she might have mentioned ...

    • @Harri_James
      @Harri_James Před 8 lety

      She's mentioned living with eleven other people online before though possibly not on youtube. As for them not being friends - I don't feel that's uncommon - I've only ever lived in house shares with people I didn't know beforehand since moving country almost two years ago - I had no friends here beforehand and then I just didn't have friends who needed someone to move in with (I am moving in with a friend next month though). Also in London where rent is so expensive most people can't afford to live alone or in small groups so house shares with strangers are even more common.

    • @Mad.E
      @Mad.E Před 8 lety

      interesting and I'm aware that moving in with strangers is not uncommon, but I guess the combination of the sheer number of room mates and the fact that none of them are related to her or her friends made it especially note-worthy to me :)

  • @notlikewater
    @notlikewater Před 8 lety

    My dream home is an open studio apartment. Like a big communal room with a kitchen and dining area and a couch and pretty art on the walls and nice windows. Then a bedroom and bathroom, maybe another couple rooms for roommates, but I like to think that I won't need roommates forever. Also, some place animal-friendly.

  • @SuicideBunny6
    @SuicideBunny6 Před 8 lety

    It sounded like just a minor problem, having no windows in a room, but when you think about it I think that's one of the most important features. You can't ventilate your room after a late night out, you can't ventilate your room during hot summer nights, you can't feel the sun waking you up in the morning, you have no natural light at all ...
    I would love to live in a warehouse like that, but no windows ... that's just like a nightmare

    I'm currently saving as much of my income as possible, and investing, in order to buy a house for myself. It doesn't have to be a big house. It doesn't have to be a great house. But I want a place that is mine.
    My ideal house has space for a large library. I would love a dedicated room for that, full of shelves and some comfy chairs. I also want a sunroom (a room set off from the house with three exposed walls mostly of glass), but I would only sit in it when it is raining, so I could read during storms.

    I had a very similar situation last year when living in student accommodation where I moved into a house of 13 people (that's not even including the couples) though we had infinitely less communal space walls were paper thin and just lead to huge house tensions... especially when you had people walking and talking above your head every day until 3 in the morning. Though there were upsides like we had hugs parties and great film nights and someone was always home to talk to :) ... all though thank god I'm moving to Oxford next year to live with just one other person!

    My Dream Home would be a XV Century Castle :), with Dungeons etc... Surrounded by a Lake :) haha, But Hanna i know what you mean living with other ppl, in a huge house i did that once, in the past, where we had about 11 ppl too, 2 kitchens it was nice, we had family room, a pool table that was fun and cool :)

    I wish I could live in a warehouse situation it looks so cool!! Plus I love being around lots of people but I think the mess would drive me mad! I'm definitely not laid back in that sense! Good luck with your new place!!

    Dream living situation would be an airy, roomy-but-not-huge flat in/around London with a couple of close friends and at least 3 cats. I really like the idea of living in a converted warehouse but I think the lack of bedroom windows would definitely be a problem for me - I need to be able to get some fresh air!

    Living in a London converted warehouse is so amazing. Your bedroom look so good. I would love and like to leave under the streets. ☺😃👍

    HANNAH YOU POSTED THIS AT THE PERFECT TIME
    I'm literally in bed looking for rooms because I'm moving to London in September for university but I'm a dirt poor student so I'm going to look for places like this on Gumtree. Thank you thank you thank you xxx

    This is so interesting. I never even knew this kind of living arrangement existed!

    It sounds so cool! But I think I wouldn't get used to having a room without windows, I'd feel trapped in it. At the moment I'm living in a student's flat and I can hear everything that happens on the flat as well as the neighbours arguing (which happens a lot), so I can relate to the noise stuff.
    My dream home would be a cozy house in Amsterdam where I could have enough space for my stuff, my future cat and a mini studio to work in :)

    i didn't even know warehouses were a thing this is amazing i want to live in london some day.
    my ideal home would be an apartment in a tall building will big windows that look over a cit and white walls tall ceilings. i would have shelves stuffed full of books and knick knacks i've collected. i want a projector instead of a tv because i can just connect it to my laptop. i will have photos every where. blu tacked to walls and in frames on shelves, pushed into the seems of windows and mirrors. every inch will have wifi and my fridge will never get the weird fridge smell. There will always be a scissors or tea towel when I need one because there never is. i will have nice neighbors that i don't have to talk to often and live near a 24 hour corner shop. i really hope that isn't to much to ask of my future. i doesn't even have to be big.

    This looks like such a cool place to live! No windows would be a dealbreaker for me though, I need natural light. But other than that I completely understand why you liked living there.

      I'd never be capable of going as long without natural light in your room as you did :D I'd be completely out of touch with the world every time I'd turn the light back on, I'm already confused when I leave the cinema, no matter whether it's still light or already dark outside :'D
