    Wardrobe mirror. Measure the width carefully between the screws holding the handle and the hinges x whatever height you want, then find a local glazier to cut a piece of 6mm mirrored glass (call it ‘6mm silvered’ if you want to impress them) to size and polish the edges. Also buy a tube of mirror-fix from them. Take the door off (the hinges either unclip, or unscrew) and lay it flat, then glue the mirror onto it with the mirror-fix. Rehang the door - be prepared to adjust the hinges as it’ll be 10-15Kg heavier. 👍

      SonsOfLorgar Sure, but only if the mirror’s the right size; you don’t want to cover the handle screws, or the hinges - don’t ask me how I found that out... 🤔👍Edited to add; also the framed mirror is likely to be 4mm - a bit thin for mounting on a door. Again, don't ask me how etc...

    For the Gallery Wall- Something really helpful is to cut paper into the size of each frame so you can temporarily tape them on the wall to practice placement. You can also arrange the actual frames on the floor to see how they fit together. There's a lot of rearranging until you figure out what you like and this really helps to you don't end up hanging them all then disliking it.

    Landyard - get a 20in x 18in canvas (or whatever that is in metric, ‘Merica is still slow). Anyway, cut the landyards so they are straight Then glue to landards like a ribbon to the canvas. Glue them as close together, mix and match (or don’t match) the colors so that from the other side of the room it looks abstract art. If one landyard is too much cut them down to size so that one whole event name is present and then a bit from the event name before and after. So like. Event is “Stockholm” so you cut it so it is “olm. Stockholm. Stoc”. You don’t have to be slavish to using the whole landyard. The nice thing about this design is you add more as you get more landyards. So maybe you only have enough to fill half the canvas. No problem, fill up what you got and use the blank space as a reminder of where you are yet to go, or use one landyard in multiple places. You might want a black gesso canvas instead of white if you are going to leave it blank until it is filled in. Color, color, color.

    Major flat envy happening right now.
    Lanyards - you could use them as string for some bunting? Or make a massive plait thing as some art? It depends if you think you'll use any of them again, because you could definitely cut them into strips and make some awesome art with them if you have the time and energy. I think weaving them together would look really cool. I have an Ikea lamp and have just hung all of mine over one of the branches, but that's not very interesting or arty.

    Gallery Wall tips - lay out a large piece of paper ( on the floor) and reorganize your photos there, until you're happy. Then trace, cut out, and hang the paper. You can then use it as a guide to put them on the wall.

  • @alexhelme853
    @alexhelme853 Před 5 lety

    Orange the gallery wall on the ground on a large piece of newsprint or paper until you like it, then draw around the frames, then tape it on the wall where you want it the whole ensemble and then also you can use the guide to know where to put the nails. Then hang them up!

  • @metaphoricallyspectacular3758

    Gallery wall advice: organize whatever it is you are wanting to put up into size categories. generally 3 categories of small, medium, large works well, but it just depends on what you've got. pick 3-5 larger pieces you want to be more focal points, and put these up first spaced out a bit. Then fill in some more with your medium sized pieces, and finally put up the smaller pieces in any spots that look bare or like they might need filling out. hope that helps!

    For the lanyards: (if you want to keep them intact) you can display them on small hooks on a wall or mount them inside shadow boxes or deep frames and hang those on the wall.
    For the gallery wall: arrange all the frames/artwork on the floor first to get a good feel for the flow/spacing/composition and/or use butcher paper (or whatever large sheets of paper you have) to trace and cut out the shape & size of the frames to tape and arrange on the wall - much easier to move around before you punch holes in the wall.
    Good luck!

    Lanyards if you have the space make their own gallery wall in your office just by hanging them in different formations! Or if you don’t I’m sure there’s a way to make them into a wreath.
    As far as living room gallery wall goes, take old cardboard (from tv box maybe?) and cut them to the size of all the posters you want to hang. Then tape them up in different formations with painters tape to test out how you want to display them! As a visual person this is a must for me when I make a new gallery wall.
    Have fun!

    For the lanyards, take the pass off the lanyard and then you could like frame them in a grid pattern or string them all up together, ect. I've had this same problem and it becomes much easier to manage with just the passes. You've done a great job with your flat, it looks amazing!

  • @SpooookieJess
    @SpooookieJess Před 5 lety

    For your gallery wall, get brown wrapping paper. Trace the size of the frames and move them around till you find a way you like them together. Even let the paper stay up for a bit before you commit. No one likes multiple holes in the walls. For your lanyards from your events, get shadow boxes for them. Line them up on one side, slightly overlapping each other (but not so you can’t read them) and have the lanyards hang lose. Hang them any which way you want. It’s makes for a really cool look.

    For the lanyards- perhaps get a cork board and you can pin them to it! I did it with a heap of medals for dance comps: it looks great on a wall with all the colours draping down. Super cheap and simple, but also keeps everything much better organized, plus the pins mean you can move it about and grab ones as you need, or add more as time goes on

    Gallery wall:
    Take measurements of the wall, sofa and all the frames. Have a piece of paper with the wall/sofa measurements, and separate cutouts of each frame size and organise them on paper until you like how it looks, then hang them up in that order. Saves second guessing yourself about it all the time.

    For your lanyards, have you thought about hanging them on some sort of tree-like stand/sculpture? I noticed how you arranged your necklaces in your bedroom and thought you might be able to make that work for your lanyards. You just might need a larger stand to hang your lanyards on, or even constructing a DIY wire sculpture. Hey presto, you have your keepsake turned into a lovely thing to look at and admire that fits with the bookshelf theme except they’re now also tidy, organised and protected from dust. :) xx

    For displaying the lanyards, if you don't mind cutting the fabric/neck part you could remove it and use it to frame each lanyard sleeve and then line them up altogether in a frame.

    Your flat looks fab. That showerhead!
    As for the lanyards the first thing that came to my mind was turning each one into a loop (maybe with sticky velcro dots) and making something along the lines of christmas chains, or at least in that basic pattern. You could probably even leave the badges on if you wanted to.

    This is so relatable to me right now! Me and my partner bought an apartment off the plan 2 years ago and moved in a couple of months ago (we're in New Zealand). I'm loving setting everything up and getting it just the way we want it. Good luck with your blinds shopping - we were overwhelmed by all the options but found some good ones in the end :)

    for the gallery wall, get some butchers paper and trace around each other things you want to hang, then use them to arrange and rearrange the configuration until you get it right. best way to make sure things are balanced, and it's way easier on the arms :)

    as for displaying the lanyards: you can get a metal pole at ikea or pretty much anywhere that sells kitchens and/or hanging plant pots, mount it on the wall and hang the lanyards from it - it's easy to add new ones and it looks quite neat :) you could also put them in like a giant frame, but getting it down and opening it to add new ones might be a bit tiresome, especially if you go to these events a lot.

    Your flat looks quite lovely, Hannah. In regards to what to do with your lanyards, how about displaying them inside of a shadow box. You could arrange them in a particular order or arrangement that has special meaning to you. Also, a possible suggestion for the hall, you could purchase a unit that has a cabinet on the bottom, with a mirror at the top. This would provide a space for your keys and such, as well as, additional storage below, plus a beautiful cohesive mirror.

    I LOOOVVVEEEEE your flat! It looks so colourful and homely! With the artwork wall, I'd maybe suggest using Command hooks or strips to hang the frames, because they will come off without damaging the wall. So if you put art up and get more and have to move it around, you won't have actual hooks nailed into the wall, and it won't damage the wall :)

    Could you weave the lanyards together to create a catch-all type bowl (for keys, change, little things) or a flat surface for placing something else on top of it or a wall hanging? Alternatively, you could lay them all flat and use them as a backdrop in a shadow box and put other things from those events in there.
