Scotty I'm not saying your wrong because you're not but what I will say is all cars have problems. Now one thing that all cars these days have is electronics and I'm sure you'll agree they are under engineered and need to be worked on more than they should be. However cars with combustion engines and transmissions have that to be worked on and the electronics as well so it's a double whammy of junk where as electric cars are primarily just that so it's hard to say which one is better. I own both, everything from an 03 suburban to a VW TDI and a model 3 and the one that cost the most money to own is the TDI because of maintenance expenses so I wouldn't say Tesla is the worst thing out there. Probably European cars with combustion engines are by far the most expensive in my book for recalls and maintenance. What's your thoughts?

As a kid, if your family didn't have a station wagon, they had a large 4 door sedan. In many respects the station wagon was the most PERFECT vehicle ever made. Bullet proof V8s and three speed automatics, great visibility, dad went to the lumber store and could put in a 4x8 sheet of plywood, floated down the highway and great cushy seats, fold away rear facing third row seats for the kids, rear window that opened and low loading floor. We had seat belts but never used them. Just a great all around vehicle and pwople really loved them. Pure Americana! Gosh I miss them, a lot. The KING of the station wagons. Some say the Chevy Caprice or Ford Grand Marquis but for my money it was the Buick Roadmaster! Must have weighed 7,000 pounds.

Since I don't want to turn my car into a swimming pool, do you have any advice on how I can properly seal the inside of the cowl grill to not only prevent the leakage, but to hopefully keep the insides from rusting.

Ford owner with transmission issues, had 1999 Plymouth voyager, tranny had no 3rd gear anymore, guy who rebuilt found a previous owner set a very strong magnet in the tranny pan - we never had an issue. Untill 3rd was all the way gone. Good old school trick

I can back those claims, I had a 79 Chevy with a 350 turbo transmission, slippin, added Lucas stop slip and the truck literally went problem free for the next 2 years, used it in a 89 Chevy with a 700r4, and changed filter, it ran fine for about 3 months or so before slippin again, the stuff does wonders sometimes. I never had any luck with Chevy auto transmissions unless it's a manual or even an auto in a S10 is decent, can't complain about the S10.

A lot of the tesla recalls I have seen are software issues that can easily be fixed over air like the boom box and rolling stop. They are just pointless recalls really anyway. My buddy has starlink, he is a huge gamer so likes really fast internet, he loves it. Most people that buy teslas don't care as much about the little quality issues as they do about the innovation.

What percentage is a lot to you?
One quick glance at Tesla recalls shows this below : none of them are software related there
Recall notices were issued in 2017 and again 2018 regarding the Takata exploding airbag inflators that, in the event of airbags deployment, could send metal fragments into the passenger compartment risking injury to the driver or passenger. The vehicles affected include all 2012 and 2013 Model S sedans totaling 17,846 cars. As of April 2018, the completion rate for this recall stood at 43.1 percent.
More recently, Tesla recalled 2012-2016 Model S cars equipped with Bosch steering racks. Corroded aluminum bolts connecting the power steering gear assist motor to the gear housing may fail, causing partial or complete loss of power steering assist. No completion rate date is currently available.
In 2017, Tesla issued two recalls. The first involved 2016-2017 Model X vehicles regarding a faulty second-row seat latching mechanism. As of May 2018, the completion rate for the 4,582 vehicles involved in this recall was 79.7 percent. The second recall involved 2016-2017 Model S and Model X vehicles. An improperly manufactured internal gear in the electric parking brake assembly may fail, causing the parking brake to either freeze up upon release or fail to hold the vehicle adequately when applied. As of April 2018, of the 31,472 vehicles affected, some 74.3 percent had been repaired.
In 2015, nearly 60,000 Model S cars were recalled due to possible improperly secured front seatbelt mechanism. As of April 2017, the completion rate for this recall was 93.1 percent.
