I even swapped out my fading plastic headlights with glass headlights with the angel eys halo rings for safety. Older BMWs are very dependable as long as you maintain them and know what parts should be proactively upgraded.

BMW, though, is run by a family that owns a controlling interest, which bought the company in the 50s, after escaping the Nuremberg war crimes trials because the old man slipped through the cracks. The family fortune was made building the batteries for the U-boats in WW II, using slave labor. If you buy a BMW, you're supporting a family descended from a war criminal, whose war-crime fortune was how they came to control the company.

I drive it extremely conservatively as well, I probably cross 2000rpm once a month, but the thing just keeps finding new parts for me to order. Wonderful cars the best driving experience I’ve ever had and I love them but in order for BMW to keep prices down they use plastic parts and the east coast winter just destroys them as the constant freezing then heating up of components really wears them out fast! Now that I’m an adult and have a good job I’ll buy a brand new or low mileage certified pre owned will never buy high mileage again lol

One day when my roommate was driving, the brakes completely quit and she ran into the side of a house. Luckily no one was hurt, but Phoebe was totaled. When I was a kid, we had an early-80s W123 Mercedes 230 E. It was such a classy car with a really smooth ride and it was quite a headturner on the road. Best part about it was it was built like a tank - a motorcycle once crashed onto the rear right side coming from the right and the rear right panel just got scratched and barely dented. It would rarely need to be serviced even after 10 years. Now my sister bought a brand new Mercedes E-class in 2022 that came with all the techy gizmos and such and she had to get it serviced after 9,000 kms because of a faulty climate control system (it was leaking freon from one of the pipes, lol).

My last 2 corvettes had less then 10,000 miles and they were broke all the time. My 2010 c6 sat on the hoist at the dealership for 6 months waiting for parts , the plastic line that went between the 2 gas tanks was Dry rotted, it cost $2200 because you couldn’t buy just the tube , you had to buy the tanks , without the level sensor. In fact, aside from a gas engine that proved more finicky than Morris The Cat (it rarely complained once they started feeding it Mobil "Super Plus," granted), they had very little trouble with the car. Synthetic is great but I’d check the owners manual and use the recommended oil. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a half & half blend given the age and make. Since you’ve been using a full synthetic it wouldn’t be a good idea to change it. Your engine is hardly broken in yet anyway, great mileage 👌. Just concern yourself with regular maintenance and change the oil filter every time.
