Noel just casually flying himself down to the airport like its normal 😅
Init
So cool
I mean... when you've got a PPL it can be... just stupidly expensive when you're flying out of the big fields for long trips!
It is normal..
@@joreybanks7585 No its not nobody would fly their own (hired) plane from Gamston to Lee on Solent, then get on an commercial Islander to fly to Aldernay - you would just fly direct Gamston - Aldernay..in the first place
I love how Noel doesn’t just do the big airlines or planes. He truly shows us all sides of aviation. And you can tell that he really loves it.
Yeah he's taken us on some epic journies.
Noel is in fact Britain’s newest airline lol 😂
Fun vlog as always Noel
I flew on an Islander with Hebridean a few years ago and it was truly a magical experience. Thanks for a great video, Noel.
Amazing, thank you!
That Pilot was pretty chill!
Just flown on an Islander from Lands end to the Isles of Scilly , great start to my holiday !
I got to fly on a Tri Islander with PBA airlines from Boston to BlueBell,Pa where there is a large Sperry Computer plant. Was great to get on that flight. At the time their fleet included a passenger carrying DC-3, but I didn't get to fly them enough to figure that one out. In the early 80s.
Go away
I have flown in an Islander just once when I tried static line parachuting , so I have the dubious honour of having taken off in one but never landed in one
That is such a cool plane. It looked like it only needed 100 yards to take off and the same for landing. The landing speed especially was so amazing. Thanks Noel for another brilliant video. Take care and have a great weekend.
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Noel can you try Canary fly never seen you do that commercial airline in the Spanish Canary Islands
Amazing video! It was great meeting you yesterday at Manchester Airport!
You should check out the jumbo stay hotel. It is a converted Boeing 747 overlooking the airport in Stockholm, it could be a interesting stay.
It’s been on my list for quite some time! Hope to be able to do it soon!
The one in Amsterdam is 10X better imo
@@CJM527 just like how Ipswich was 10 years ago.
@@Jin_Sakai71 ouch
Lee is my local airfield. It's always great to see the local area from the air. And in the Islander too. It will cool seeing the Trislander flying around the south again when Air Alderney get one. A sight and sound that has been sorely missed since Aurigny retired their fleet a few years back
So good to see B&N at Lee On Solent. As a lad I took a tour of the Bembridge factory. Still have my spotters log from the tour. Another great video Noel, thank you! Love their logo too!
Great vlog Noel . Lee is my local airfield it’s got a great cafe and viewing area to watch any aircraft movements. Always nice to see the Islanders flying in and out .
Very cool ! Thanks for taking us along.
You bet
Hey ho near my home town of Portsmouth. Love this. So many memories. Thanks Noel x
Fully agree Noel. Great to see these airlines I live near Biggs hill so will be looking out for them. Paul
Great video Noel. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great vlog as always! I would love to fly the Islander myself. They were used in Norway from 1975-1985ish. Norwing was the name of the airline. The went belly up in the late 80s when they did not get the air ambulance routes. Looking forward to the next one!
Hi Noel, a great little aircraft to fly in and the trilander is fun to fly in, they are used flying in and around the Channel Islands. I agree we should be using these smaller aircraft in around the UK it would be quicker.
Kind regards
DS
I live in Jersey and fond memories of the flights inter island on the Joey via Air Aurigny … sadly the costs charged to be a passenger on the flights led to the downfall as people just couldn’t justify .. the Channel Islands being the most expensive piece of water to fly or sail over .. I do hope that this new airline is able to keep it affordable
Blimey, I didn't know they were still making Islanders! Never flown on one myself, but I did fly on the Trislander quite a few times when Aurigny were still flying them around the Channel Islands. In fact my second ever flight was on a Trislander from Guernsey to Jersey.
I can't wait until Noel takes a ride on the first commercial electric flight.
I thought the Concorde was the first electric plane?
@@AceCrickey what?
@@AceCrickey Concorde Electric no Supersonic
I can't believe I've been subscribed to your channel as long as I have and somehow didn't realize you were a pilot!!! I guess I need to watch more which I shall.
Spacious interior, short take off and landing, low stall speed, big door.... sounds like a skydiving plane to me!!
They do use them a lot for skydiving here! The British Army use them for parachuting too.
hey noel i’ve watched your vids for the last few months and i it has helped my prepare for my trip coming up in a few days so thanks!😊
Great to hear! Have a great trip.
Gott love the Islander. Built like tanks.
Noel, I just love the little homage you've given to the Islander from 7:53 onwards and I can just totally agree with you. I use the Islander regularly during the year for flights from Norddeich/Germany to the North Sea island of Juist and it's always a wonderful little ride with these tiny work horses and yes, they aren't luxurious or fancy, but they do great in what they were made for and that is what counts. Keep up the good work, really enjoy your channel! Cheers from Germany! :-)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
I didn't know you were a pilot Noel! That's a pretty cool little plane
Just totally brilliant! As normal. The aircraft was as you said was really cool
Thank you Noel, that's a nice surprise. Can't wait for the scheduled flights. Been looking forward to taking a flight from Shoreham for the past 9 years now.
Hope you enjoy it!
Beautiful multipurpose machine. Nice video. Thank you.
Great Video Noel, I really enjoyed what i have seen so far, Cheers Mate well done!
Glad you enjoyed it
Noel, thanks for that visit to Memory Lane. Years ago in suburban New Jersey there was a small commuter airline called the Red Bank Air Taxi which flew back and forth to JFK with Islanders and Twin Otters. I always tried to find an excuse to use it when flying in and out of the New York area. To me the best feature of being on the Islander was taxiing around JFK and looking at the big boys "up close and personal" as they say. Simply put, the Islander and Twin Otter were just such fun. Happy travels.
Very cool!
Cheers Noel! I've been binging your videos and I love them
Awesome, thank you!
Another fantastic trip report/vlog. The Islander is a fantastic aircraft, and there is another place that you should visit - killing several birds with one stone. The Isles of Scilly, they operate between Lands End + St Mary's the Islander (a former Skybus Islander) was used in a James Bond Film, a number of years ago. Plus they also have the UK's only passenger helicopter service, Twin Otters, and The Scillonian is also fun (the ferry between Penzance and Scilly)
As a channel islander myself, its great to see us getting on your channel :)
Superb Noel. Wish I could go on these adventures
Always loved my flights on Islanders where I live in Solomon Islands.
Love the Islander. I went to boarding school, just up the road from Bembridge Airport, so there was no shortage of seeing them. Des Norman's kids went there too. I even managed to have a flight round the island too. Brilliant aircraft. Somewhere on CZcams, there is some old 8mm cine footage of one landing and taking off from the school fields, and Whitecliff Bay. I'll try and find it for you.
Hi Noel, Biman Bangladesh Airlines is starting their commercial flight from Dhaka to Toronto starting July 27th, 2022. Just wondering if you are considering taking the flight. Thank you.
Can’t stop thinking about that Trislander now, as soon as it was mentioned 🤤🤤🤤
Love this video. Flown in Islanders many times back in the early eighties. Took off more times than we landed as it was the often go to sky-diving bus in the UK. Fantastic aircraft and looks good from underneath as you are falling away!!
Thanks for sharing!
SUPER COOL NOEL!!!! Thanks for this video, very educational and fun! Best!
Thank you 🤗
As someone who lives so local to Lee-on-the-Solent (literally 5 miles away), it's great to see you flying from somewhere local, Noel. I'm always enjoying the content, keep up the hard work :)
Thanks for the support!
What a unique opportunity, great work Noel!
Thank you kindly!
I saw an Air Alderney at Shoreham when I had my flying lesson. I never knew they were a new airline.
What an amazing aeroplane Noel!! Thanks for sharing! 😍
Thanks for watching!
I pleasantly surprised to see good old Gamston. I was born and raised in Retford. My first flight was in Baron out of Gamston
It's my home airfield and where I fly from on my other channel :)
6:28 Aviation 18 Deadly. Great Video As Usual Noel
Nice vid, love the Britten Norman Islander, such a cool little plane
Islander distance needed to take off is 621 feet....insane 😆😆😆
The islanderis a great play! I flown it a couple of times with a friend! I love it!
What a great little plane, great watch 😊
What a great flight and amazing scenery.
Yes it was!
I’ve flown on the trislanders a few times to Alderney and guernsey. Interesting experience and always felt odd having one pilot!
Nice to see you down south
Gutted I didn't get to see my local and the UK's oldest commercial airport in Shoreham (and glad you still called it Shoreham too and not the Brighton City branding), but am happy to see the return of a regular scheduled commercial flight back to the Channel Islands.
New Airline Check !
Can’t wait for them to bring the quirky trilander back to life!
Being brought up in Jersey, many a happy trip with Aurigny in Islanders and Trislanders!!! Biggie Hill to Jersey? Now that would be fun!!!
That’s so cool that you got to visit their factory! Great video and I will check out your second channel!
Thanks so much!
The fact he has one of those ‘staff’ lanyards like a school teacher and says “any questions?” Really made me think of a primary school assembly 😂
As a wee lad living in Guernsey in the 70's, I took a Tri-lander to Birmingham with my Mum! She sat in the right seat next to the pilot, and I remember he offered her a cigarette, she said yes, and it popped out of the instrument dashboard!
Alright, alright. Been watching for 2 years and finally subscribing. You got me.
Love this airline
I live in guernsey and have family living in alderney! lovely island!!
It's like a Noel Philips Pilot Blog and a flight review rolled up in one!
For everyone mentioning the Trislanders… did you know the most famous one G-JOEY now hangs in a soft play centre on Guernsey. It’s fantastically incongruous, but at least it got to stay on its homeland
Great video sir! My favorite of yours thus far.
Wow, thanks!
My work used to take me to several off shore islands , took many flights on the BN islander, great little plane.
absolute baller, flying yourself down to the airport. Love it!
Saves on car parking charges at the airport 😅
Flew on a TriLander about 50yrs ago at RAF Finningley Airshow. It had bench seats not those posh ones in the video. Great plane though.
Thank you Noel for taking the time to do this and then sharing with us.
I would probably feel a little uneasy knowing there's one crew up front.
But, I presume you would jump into the right hand seat should it be necessary ?
Flew on a lot of these growing up as a kid in Papua New Guinea, they were perfect for the rugged terrain and short jungle landing strips and also the pleasure in a Trilander from an old defunct airline called Douglas Airways PNG . Like you say they are like an aerial Landrover, they just keep going. Had some other great planes there as well I had flights on, the Twin Otter, same, very reliable and also a Short 360, like a flying box on wheels, DC-3s, Fokker F-27s, all great. Love the sound of the engines on the Islander as well, I think high wing mounts you just get a more beautiful sound from the pitch changes etc, than on a low or mid wing. Nice video.
I love the BN Islander/Trislanders. Good to see they are still going strong
Noel you are so right, flights on the Islander are very memorable indeed. My one and only flight on one was way back in 1987 from Panama City's tiny (as it was then) domestic airport (PAC) to Puerto Obaldia (PUE) on the edge of the Darien Gap on an Aerolineas Nacionales BN2 while I was on my way to South America by land. I camped out at PAC for two days knowing that flights went on an ad hoc basis when enough people were at the airport at the same time. I eventually rented the aircraft and pilot for $36 a head with a group of 4 or 5 Colombians who were conveying cardboard boxes of unknown contents. The hour or so hop included flying low over the steaming jungle, Panama's Tocumen airport, and the Panama Canal before arrival on Panama's Caribbean coast at an air strip that went straight up a mountain side - like Lukla no chance of a TOGA. More than 35 years later it is still one of the greatest hour's I have spent in the air.
A friend of mine use to be Engineering Manager for Loganair based in Kirkwall. He specialised on the Islander
Great views from the air x
Thanks Noel another great video! 👍👍👍👊✌️.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'll definitely use this airline from Shoreham! That's super exciting!
The airport I’m training at! Live over the road from it and go to the cafe there every week for brekkie. Lovely little airfield.
Cool aircraft 👍
Omg Noel you have made my day. Spinnaker tower in Portsmouth xx
Flew on an Islander and Trislander back in the late-80s between Jersey and Cherbourg with Aurigny. The only times it wasn't just my bags that were weighed!
I really enjoy your posts thanks so much
You are so welcome
Great video Noel small planes are fun
Yes indeed!
Very Cool!
Looks like a fun flight. Never flown on an Islander but flown many times on a Twin Otter which I'm guessing would be the Canadian eqivelent and your right they can land almost anywhere. Great video
Whoa? You fly as a pilot? Wow! That freaked me out!
I’m full of surprises 😅
I had no idea Islanders were still in production!
I didn’t know Noel was a pilot lmao. Wow!
I miss flying into Alderney on the old trislanders it wasn’t the same when aurigny started using the dornier 228 , hopefully they start commercial service soon I’ll use them instead of aurigny next time I go and see family.
Crazy how quickly the plane took off!
Gamston?? Just round the corner from where I work, didn't know you were so local Noel.
Thankyou Noel for this video and I do hope you visit my old home of Alderney soon on the Islander where people take a car or bus to go to the next town, this was the only way to leave Alderney, so I have been no many a Islander and yes they are fun in cross winds but love them
Enjoyed the Show as Allways
As cabin attendant for KLM, I used to fly the world. Well more or less 😉. Now I let You do it and love watching it!.
Hey Noel, come visit Reno NV! You can check out Aha! Air, a new Regional airline that flies to small airports in the West. And then we can go up and fly around in my flight club's Cessna 172, we can do some mountain flying to Lake Tahoe.
