  • Marigolds! Why do I keep calling them magnolias?! It's been a good September on the allotment. The raspberries and sweetcorn came to an end after a magnificent harvest. More of the fruit trees produced fruit this year than ever before, and boron appears to have sorted out issue with brassicas (we'll see!). Sadly our leeks are struggling, and appear to be shredded(?). The beans, both French and climbers, are done for the year but both gave a reasonable crop. Not that the harvest is over yet, with parsnips, sprouts, swede, potatoes, carrots, cabbages, pak choi and beetroot still to come. And with no frost yet, the flowers are still giving a wonderful display!

Thanks! 🙂 We just need the yellow ones to stop dying on us! It's only the pink ones that seem to survive.

Amazing allotment! Definitely one of the best on CZcams. Question - How come you have bare plastic paths?

Thanks! Our council don't allow woodchip, and last year they banned the use of bark as well. Grass would be too much of a maintenance overhead (we only have a push mower). Gravel would be too expensive, plus it would be uncomfortable to kneel on when doing some impromptu weeding without a kneeling pad. So we're stuck with the plastic. It's not my favourite but it keeps things neat and low maintenance. Cheers! David
