Allotment Year 6 - June 25th 2023 Tour

Another very dry month but thankfully the grass hasn't gone brown yet! Everything needs significant watering though. Strawberries and Tayberries are cropping nicely, and after some issues with germination we have French and runner beans doing well. White rot has struck some of the alliums, with the garlic also beginning to have rust. But it's good news for the tomatoes, peppers, parsnips, courgettes, beetroot, lettuce, cabbages, sweetcorn and carrots, which are all doing well (for now!). The blackcurrants, gooseberries and blackberries are very nearly ready to harvest, and it wont be long before we'll have our first container of Jazzy potatoes. The raspberries are having their best ever year and some of the fruit trees might even produce some fruit! As for the flowers, well, they're always a pleasure to see (and the bees love them!).
