      It is astonishing how much the two legends, Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonson, resemble each other. They came to Formula 1 at the same time in 2001. Both have been driving for Ferrari for many years. Both McLaren for both five years (Kimi 2002-2006, Fernando 2007, 2015-2018). Also in Enstone's team, which in Kimi's case was Lotus and Fernando Renault. Kimi achieved more with Ferrari and McLaren, but Alonso had more to reach Enston. Both are great world champions who fought for the title at the same time in 2005 and 2007. The second time Kimi won and another Fernando. Kim has more podiums, But Fernando has a little more profits. Impossible to say which of these better drivers. Certainly at the same level.

And this year revealed further than Mclaren's problems wasnt just Honda engines, but the team went to shit otherwise and that already had begun way before Alonso decided to return back there....Alonso clearly had some foolish hope that Honda would somehow be able to built some kind of dominating power unit, but look how that turned out...

      @@markom7960 I am sorry but that's not even close! Alonso has proven to be the better driver. You can't possibly put Alonso and Kimi at the same level. Alonso is a tier 1 driver along with Michael, Senna, Prost, Fangio, Clarke, Hamilton and Lauda. Kimi is probably a tier 2 driver at best but a strong tier 2 driver and well above other tier 2 drivers like Vettel, Button, etc.

      @Balnazzardi Před 5 lety +7

      @SteveMHN First of all while I agree that he might not be to be considered among MS, LH and SV, he STILL WAS the first main rival for Alonso......he was there as the only one to challenge Alonso for 2005 championship and he was also there to win it in 2007, he was just as much rival that season as Lewis Hamilton was....or can you deny this fact?
      Secondly its utterly bullshit to say that Kimi "only won in 2007 because he was lucky", considering that while he suffered 2 car failure DNFs in Spain and Nurburing, Mclaren drivers enjoyed bullet proof reliability (aside from Hamilton's small gearbox problems in Brazil) and their only DNFs came from their OWN mistakes, with Alonso crashing out in Fuji and Hamilton making that idiotic mistake by pitting too late with worn out tires and cruising off to sand in pit entrance in China....
