Hey first time Gimbal user here. Havent shot video before on a Smartphone properly- but done 7 years street portraits with DSLR/Mirrorless .
Now in Asia- I'd like to create basic videos and learn editing.
Tokyo second hand Gimbals everywhere but these two showed up on Marketplace.
Which one do you recommend? I use a basic Samsung S9+ and I'd prefer not to buy a new phone although I can if need be.
Any advice please? ( 2 years old video i know but still never too late!)
PS Videos I'll create are street walking, stationary(People watching/walking by, cars going by etc)

Nice straight forward review. From where I was sitting the Osmo definitely looked better for the first half, and the Moza for the second. Not sure why. That said, with digital stabilization activated on your device, if that's an option, both should appear rock solid in actual use.

@@AttiBear May I ask what is real tilt angle? Some folding gimals claim 300 degree but that's just how much motor can rotate but in shoting they can only tilt up and down in 60-90 degrees.

Your genie app sucks, calibration in 2 seconds?? And the camera sensor of this app sucks to auto focusing when light changes?, i bought MINI S, and it is a trash, inception mode and it just keeps on dying? Or going standby? Lol TRASH.. i am about to return it for refund.. 😡🤬 1 more issue, yes it is brand new, i tried to move on angles, it vibrates!!!! Just like dildo 🤬😡

Osmo stabalizer is super smooth
Live streaming from within the app is a huge plus for the Mini MX, assuming the tracking is solid. So is blue tooth mic source. My Osmo 3 embarrasses itself by omitting those two features since DJI is trusted for its software supremacy. In your test, the Osmo looked more steady.
That's the thing. As long as you don't have complex or quick movements that tracking will work most of the time, but it's far from the Osmos tracking capabilities. Moza still has some catching up to do, but they already released a bunch of updates and extended certain features.
Where did you get THIS version of the moza genie app?!!!! My one doesn’t show any of the swipe side menus but instead a basic one?!

I am tempted to get the Moza simply becuase of the Inception Mode but you're the first review that I've seen that mentions the arm being in the way of the camera when playing with it. I own a Galaxy Note 9 so that may be of an issue. I'm still at two minds with the Moza or the DJI OM3. The app optimisation for both brands are not the best for Android, BUT the DJI supports Filmic pro.
From your opinion, which one would you ultimately recommend?
Hey John glad you liked the video. Actually the Osmo 3 and the Mini MX both have an Inception Mode 😉. True the Note 9 could have some limitations through it's size. Regarding the Support for Filmic, the Osmo Mobile 3 never received proper support. Only the Osmo Mobile 2 was fully supported. If you plan on sticking with the Note 9, you probably will be better of with the Osmo
@@AttiBear I didn't know the Osmo 3 had that feature. I'd imagine it's called something else. I can't find any reviews that show that feature working :(
+ the DJI is £120 with the kit vs £60 for the MX + kit. Decisions decisions
I filmed that part but decided not to put it into the video. In both gimbals it's part of the FPV setting. Btw. Sometimes it's worth to check amazon in different countries that are near to your country for example germany 😉

On a side note, on the Osmo 3 it's called Vortex Mode.

Thank you Alessio 🙏. The iPhone 11 Pro worked perfectly. If it's centered it won't hit the gimbal.

Yes it still stabilises, you need to mount it to where the mini tripod normally goes.

Worth every penny
They seem alright but they have so many random problems. Ugh thing basically was unusable an hour after I took it out of the box. Emailed there support, no reply at all! My Gimbal mini Moza MX is stuck inaccesble from the phone and you can't turn it off or reset it. The battery isnt able to take out to reset it. So it's just sitting there with the light on and I'm waiting for the battery to drain and to die so it can turn off and finally reset which will probably take like 4 days.

Hey Marcel, thank very much! Most Gimbal Apps don't support desqueeze for anamorphic lenses so you'll have to do it by hand in post. However you could use Moments App or Filmic pro to do this while recording.

Hey Farid, you are welcome. Yes it does and it works with every Phone that can run their Moza Genie App and fits their size and weight limits 😉
I shoot RAW video on my findX3 film mode? It has a dedicated LUT mode. Which gimbl app does hat a RAW/LUT feauture?
I can highly recommend Filmic Pro to shoot Raw. Aside from that the iPhone can shoot ProRes to get a higher Bitrate.

Can you please try mounting a gopro and show us how it works. Would be really helpfull if you test that... I have seen many video where people are using gopro on DJI Osmo Mobile 3&4. Would be interested to know if that works with MX also....
You basically can mount a GoPro to every Smartphone gimbal, but you'll always have to find a way to mount it. Balancing it could prove to be difficult

Hey Martin, the Note 10 has almost the same size as the iPhone 7 Plus so it could get quite close 🤔

What about if we use bigger phone like note10+ family? Is it limiting the tilting angle? Because we can se the arm that hold the phone is pretty short....
with such a big phone, you'll certainly hit the arm and have a limited movement range

Thank you Abhijeet. In iOS you can shoot 60fps with the Genie App and with your native camera App you of course can always shoot with what ever you iPhone can offer 😉

You'll be able to shoot 60fps with both gimbals. The Moza still has some catching up to do till it reaches the software quality of the OSMO Mobile Devices. In terms of haptic and reliability I'm mainly working with the Osmo mobile 4 at the moment.

One question, can I control gimbal feature without Moza Genie App in android? I mean basic function like pan/tilt/follow/inception.
Thank you Mela 😃. Pan/Tilt can be controlled with the joystick. In order to use Follow(Tracking) or Inception you'll need the app

Thank you Christian, There's nothing like "the best". Most manufacturers are updating, improving and sometimes even add features over time, so it kinda depends on what you need at the moment. I think the Moza Mini MX and the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 are both super solid devices and both have pros and cons. In the end it comes down to what you want to achieve with them.

Yes it can. Just remove the mini Tripod that comes with the Mini MX it's the same mount

How is the smartphone holder? Can you use a protection case?
It's quite alright. You can use it with a case, but most of the time they are so bulky that it loses the grip. This happens with pretty much every smartphone gimbal.

Hey Jeremy, they certainly can be done, but you'll have to compensate for the lower angel with you own movement.

You mean clicking sound will be recorded for normal day to day use if we want to record real world surrounding sounds?
If you push the buttons gently the clicking won't be too loud, but still hearable in the videos

I don't want extreme movements but just a super smooth non shaky footage that's it, so please suggest the best option? Should i go for an older version of GoPro Hero 5 or 6 ? Instead of investigation in phones accessories?
Moza Mini P was the best choice for me.It can handle up to 2 lbs so I can add lenses filters and even cages.

They’re selling these for $65 on B&H on their deal zone section rn! This gimbal and the accompanying software for o Ky $65 is a steal. Only available for four hours!
I have the Realme X2 pro which has 4k resolution with 60FPS, sadly in the Moza app, I can only use 4k at 30FPS
DJI has the same problem with the Osmo product line. Often it comes down to a poor android implementation that 4K60 isn't available in 3rd party apps.

I went with Moza Mini Mx as its newer and has more features
The Moza does not necessarily have more features than the Osmo. In total the Osmo has more. The big question is what features will Moza or DJI introduce in the future. Gimbals are only as good as the software that comes with them.
@@AttiBear Your reply really made me think and now I returned the Moza mini Mx and getting Dji Osmo 3. My reason is simple. It has better support and DJI is more of a Gold standard when it comes to Gimbal and drones

Nice gimbal. I had it for a while now. Same problem that sucks like all other gimbals, the android app lacking as if they were designed for iPhone.
I actually think most apps are at this point, cause it's probably easier to design an app for a more streamlined ecosystem. Android just has a massive amount of derivates and adjustments for various devices which can lead to issues
@@AttiBear Maybe, although I think it is a marketing thing. They target the iPhone user for some reasons.
