This is was one of the most challenging woodworking projects I have done yet, which resulted in some of my best work to date. After working through multiple prototypes to make the perfect design for this rocking chair, I used traditional mortise and tenon joinery and am more than happy with how the rocking chair turned out.
Made entirely of Sapele and accented with square peg and bowtie spline made of Wenge, this rocking chair woodworking project will be a highlight piece in my living room for a long time! - Jak na to + styl
Some youtubers would make a 7 part series out of a chair like this. Kudos for the timelapses.
Yes thank you, it is so hard to sit and watch the entire build. Some of us are way past that and this was about perfect time wise. Over production is a YT disease.
and here here to that comment. some of the people who make stuff and post it to ut dont realise how boring it is listening to a lot of waffling comment and useless machine or wood cutting and metal drilling. so to The Samurai Carpenter your video is excellent. bried, informative and entertaining
It's Friday evening here in the UK, got myself a cold beer I'm going to chill and watch the master at work! Cheers! Beautiful work as always.
Doing exactly the same down the road from you with the addition of a curry 🍛 to go with the 🍻
@@dougsaunders8109 Cool, enjoy, yes I'm jealous of the curry, lol.
Checking in from Denmark, but otherwise the same. Nothing beats celebrating the weekend with cold beer and fantastic woodworking!
It's 3:00 est and I'm already enjoying the Friday evening 😂😂
Checking in From right in the middle of France, it is sunday night and I am enjoying a nice and cold pint, watching the samouraï's art. Be saluted.
Greene and Greene meets Sam Maloof. Very beautiful work! Love that guilty look at the end when you got caught.
Very nice !!! I really like the inclusion of the Dutchmen that adds both a structural and aesthetic quality to the piece. You are indeed a true 'maker'. My late father was a master cabinet maker and I am sure he would have approved.
This just bumped your reverse live edge dining table as the best build I've seen. Your talent is completely in a league of its own.
Very nice work, I can say that I think your best work is flowers for Flo . This is up there on the list .
I am not a woodworker but found this to be incredible enjoyable to watch. I am now wishing one of my sons loved carpentry as I would love to have a chair like this.
A woman can work wood just the same you can do it!!❤️
@@gl0omygo0ber I understand as I am the handywoman of the house, my husband is the brain. I have done my fare share of handywork over the years.
Very beautiful piece of craftsmanship that will in all likelihood stand long after we're gone; one of those masterful and practical pieces that reflect the best of who we are as people in this time. Thanks!
Beautiful chair - but I can think of two of your items which I prefer. The URN was positively amazing and so so touching. Also the jewellery box you made for your darling wife was truly spectacular. Thanks for the vid mate.
LOVE those bowties! I've never seen them used that way before.
I love watching all your work. My favorite part about your work is there no nails or screws, its all jointery. Seamless jointery. It inspires me to do the same. It just looks so much better.
Man, Gods gift to woodworking. You never cease to blow my mind. I've been with you since "Risen" woodworks. Your work is always so inspirational. There is nothing you are afraid to tackle. Stellar craftsmanship.
Really lovely chair and video. I always enjoy watching you combine traditional and modern techniques as you work. They're really not so different, just different tools. The result is always something special. Thanks for sharing!
Prolly the nicest rocker I’ve seen. Since my grandfather told me as a child that the rocking chair is the most difficult piece of furniture to build it has been on my “Bucket List” to design and build, and sit on my front porch drinking an adult beverage and watching my neighbors.
Do it!
uh oh...I wanna hand make one....for my first project. Why do I always choose the very hardest thing to learn a new hobby with.
I think you've every right to feel proud of this work. It's exceptionally good.
Absolutely beautiful! Love every detail. Hit it out of the stadium
Very beautiful rocking chair. A heirloom to pass down to your children. Stay safe and happy woodworking.
Very nice, like the g&g style joinery
Love these my fellow timber ninja. It’s like the new “new Yankee workshop” keep them coming

It’s the most beautiful rocking chair I’ve ever seen. I am not a fan of drama and fanfare so I really enjoyed this video just a high quality craftsman making wonderful sturdy furniture.
Kudos to you Samurai that is a work of art, your skills all came together on that one.

Very nice beautiful and awesome extraordinary work 😀 👏 👌
Watching as your chisel eats through material always lighten me up in the gray days, thank you for your beautiful work!
Absolutely gorgeous chair
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills
I noticed 22 didn't like your work, they must be those that do their woodwork via a computer CNC, this was pure skill, your a young fella, just imagine the work you'll be doing at my age 70, you will still have that rocking chair, you built it to last. Goodonyamate Cheers
Dude, it looks so organic, it's a thing of beauty. Nice work!
That’s a super chair, I like the look of the turbo plane, it seems a very useful shaping tool, and quick too!
This is not a rocking chair.. This is a chair that rocks! Holy moly...
Muy bonita le quedó la cilla mesedora saludos cordiales desde costa Rica Pura vida 🇨🇷
Very well done great design and execution
Fine job sir. Thank you for continuing to upload to CZcams. I’ve learned so much over the years. Your admission about addiction, in my opinion, has been your best, most influential and respectable work. I’ve struggled with the same. You’re technique on laying out an arch has been most helpful to me. Thank you for sharing with us. God bless.
Best piece yet, just beautiful. My favourite is the arms connecting into the back.
Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful !!
You make it look so easy Jesse, that's the sign of a true craftsman.
I met Sam Maloof in California when his woodshop was still down the road from where the compound is now, they move his whole compound thats on the national registry because of the highway coming thru. His Rocker is world famous.
Jesse, you are in his league. Your craftsmanship on all you build is extraordinary! Keep building, keep imagining, and keep pushing your limit, we all want to watch what you are doing next
Absolutely stunning

Beautiful. An heirloom for sure.
That’s another level of woodworking. Best of the traditional and new worlds
Grand Slamurai! Some of your best work indeed. This chair could sit amongst those of Sam Maloof!
best samurai video in years. Well done
线条美感十足,且没有钉子,纯正的榫卯连接,非常具有东方木工作品的味道。
很喜欢这个椅子。

Work of art as always!!!
Well done Jessie, amazing craftsmanship.
Brilliant design details, amazing execution.... don’t smoke. We want you and your talent around for a long time.
Beautiful Chair, Mr Samurai
Wonderful work! Thank you for share. Stay safe.
This is all kinds of good. Well done
WOW! Absolutely gorgeous!!. Watching you reminds me of a young Sam Maloof and the high quality of work that he put into his chairs. The choice of woods is spot on and a beautiful contrast especially after you put the wax(?) on it. Now, you will have to make one for each child for that day they are old enough to have a family of their own. The perfect chair for rocking a baby to sleep.
That's such a beautiful build - there's not a right angle anywhere. Your skill is amazing.
Wow awesome chair . Love it
Nice build. Really enjoyed watching this.
Gorgeous
Dear Samurai. You are super! And the chair is super too! :)
My gosh that is beautiful. You are so talented, what a gift.
Wow! Great job. Making a rocking chair is on my list of things to do when I get better, but it's such a daunting task even for the future.
