I saw at the end of the video that you are up in the Lake District in England. My wife is a Brit and we visit from Time to time. Beautiful shop you have!

Hey cool video series! Sam was really a band-saw carving pro (he paid a price for it) and although I don't have nearly the years of experience or skill, his rocking chairs, regular chairs, and other items are definitely on my to do list, as it were. But of course, no direct copies and all items get a Maloof nod at signature time!

Just found your channel, great to see a sam maloof build. Quite surprised with how many subs you have, should be more than that for the quality and detail in these videos, keep up the good work!

I had the honor of meeting Sam Maloof at his property. Took a class on how he made his chairs. Very humble man he was. Where are you located?

Impressive workmanship! Impressive and well-equipped shop. Your jigs were also impressive! One note of caution or a safety concern: I was taught to never ever wear any jewelry in the shop, non-what-so-ever! One accident can be so very debilitating! Please remove ALL the jewelry! I'm going to Part 2, next. [Retired engineer, dad of 3 daughters, had a shop since I was in 5th grade.]

I agree with you entirely, safety aspect, we all know she is a female, very dangerous, having bare legs, approximate 50 years of experience in the joinery tried working for myself, now retired, living in France, Phil from the moulin France,

Love your videos!! My dad is making Sam Maloof rocking chairs over 10years for fun and now he is even teaching how to make them.
Since I am doing my Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering at Penn State and will graduate this summer, he asked me if there is anyway to see you and talk with you haha when he comes and visits to USA. I told him ”I have no idea how to reach you and even if I reach you, she does not want to meet you lol and maybe she lives in England, not USA (based on your accent)”
Many times, I bought and woodworking products to my dad while I am studying.
He does not speak English but he does speak carpentry. So he keeps asking me to translate woodworking products and some carpentry videos as well.
Anyway, I do have a question about the device at 9min of this video. You said you used big cylindrical straight and bearing guided router cutter. Can I ask where we can buy this product (maybe you made it by yourself)? I tried to find it and probably found the name “Flush Trim Router Bit”. But it seems like it’s not big enough as yours.
Thanks very much!! Big support from our family!!

Hi, thanks for the lovely comment!
unfortunately I am from England, but if your dad ever did visit id be mote than happy to talk about woodwork! in the meantime he's more than welcome to email me, my email can be found on my page in my about section. I also have an instagram page where I post some content under the name Countrywoodgirl.
so the one you see me use in this video is a spindle cutter, however the same process can be done with a router, and yes your right they are called flush trim router cutter, they won't be as big as this spindle one but will work the same. you can get the bearing top mounted or bottom mounted, id suggest getting both as if its not long enough, you would be able to finish off with the other one. I hope that makes sense.

Hi 👋, you looking for information on building these chairs, nobody has come back to you by the looks of it, last year I purchased the DVD books and plan set from a company in Germany. At present. I cannot remember the name apart from it being ends with D,
One DVD is called , Shaping Sculptured Rocker, with Charles Brock .
      Build A sculptured Rocker, C, Brock .
And I have seen a router cut in sets , for doing the joints , This available in the UK, I believe you just put in Sam Maloof. Cut set .
I hope this can be some help , good luck with your project,
