My Wolfie, Freddie, promised me he would live for at least 10 years - and he did - 10 years and 1 day!
+Khyyam wow!! That's truly awesome!
Yes it is and Yes he was. As far as I am concerned, there is nothing better than a Wolfie as a friend and companion.
Thats wonderful! I lost my wolfie Jack on Easter...11yrs 3 days old. Watching tv on the couch..he just fell asleep! Heartbroken...but happy I had a best friend for that long.
@David David yes it is. They say 6 to 7 yrs. But they are living longer these days.
I really love wolf hounds but I think I work to much to own one. I heard they can't be left alone.
Maggie is adorable. Her eyes are incredibly soulful. I'm not strong, a senior. But seeing Maggie makes me want to get an Irish Wolfhound...
Lovely vid. Lucky you that the dog loves being washed. Our lady now 10.5 yrs does not like being washed at all, and detests any water around her head. Shower time is protest time. Trained her not to jump on the bed or the sofa, still obeys this rule. Treat time is well understood. Loves our company and is seriously depressed if I'm not around. An absolute gentle giant with a massive heart always (nearly) willing to please. Learned not to get too dirty outdoors as this always leads to some form of washing, so clever.
Maggie, ur furbulous!! Irish wolfhounds have a pawsitivily sweet pawsonality!! I have 3 Irish wolfhound/ huskie mix ..all 3 r litter mates ..I rescued their Mom [husky] who was with pups ..sweetest dog .she had been tethered all her life, 2 yrs ..kid asked me would I take her bc he couldn't afford to feed her & her pups ... I had offered to have her spayed about a yr before ( after she broke free from the cord /rope ,whatever it was they kept her tied with ) I saw her in the road ..got her off the busy street...the kids mom refused my help ; then later called the police bc she saw that I was giving her water ..I would worry about her . So sad ...The day I got her out of the street, she came to my house , stayed overnight bc I couldn't find who she belonged to ; Her family was not aware she had gone missing 2 days later .... Animal rights laws in the South suck ! ( Mississippi)..There are none ..people do what they want with their animals ...I received a warning from the police bc it was 100 degree heat & I gave the husky water .she had none ..I had worried over that poor dog for months & months ..could not check on her anymore..Although I was going through a bad divorce & low on cash ,still felt relieved when I rescued her that she wouldn't suffer anymore. I just wanted her to have a better life..
One of the best things I remember about growing up was our Irish Wolf hound. You take good care of your girl.
+Douglas Dulac we surely will! My husband says all the time that he wants our kids to remember having this huge (baby of a) dog, and it wants my heart to hear that was something that was a big deal to you as a kid!
*warms
Thanks for posting! The resemblance between our wolfhounds is astounding!
I love love love how soft her coat looked when she was on the bed, she's gorgeous.
+Chika Efobi thank you so much! She has such fluffy baby fine fur in some places, the only problem is that it gets tangled easily.
I had a wolfhound when I was a teen. We just put in to adopt one. I can't wait!
They are such big babies, so sweet! Congratulations!
Love how you choose to live with your doggie! It's your attitude!
Great music for wolfie-grooming! Lovely video- am a sucker for big dogs (horses, people). Our Bernese mountain dog weighs probably at least as much- just in a VERY solid way. Knocked me over yesterday by simply turning into me thinking I was somewhere else😂. Love the way you talk to her- family members they are!!!
She looks exactly like my Charley, who I had for 13 glorious years, except Charley was born with no tail! Wonderful sweet and loyal dogs. I went through giving these baths so many times!
No tail doesn't sound so bad. My Irish Wolfhound Roddy would sweep tables clean when he was happy... Until he got happy tail syndrome. That is when a wound at the tip of the tail gets infected and won't heal because he would continue to nibble on it and bang it against stuff. At some point about half his tail had to be amputated. And that was even worse. Now his tail was like a police baton right on crotch height, hitting me in the balls at a frequency of 2 times per second. :'(
How could anyone not love ❤️ that face?!
GLad you are thinking on those lines for your children. I truly think Irish Wolfhounds are one of the best dogs, in terms of temperament and caring attitude. They are just part of the family. Our dog, Gretchen, would not forgive my mother for leaving on vacations for over a week. She wouldn't hardly look at my mom for days! So sensitive...
+Douglas Dulac oh yes, our Maggie is SUPER SENSITIVE! We tell people all the time, she's a big baby. If we all go somewhere together, when we get home she is in the house screaming and wailing! She doesn't give us the cold shoulder though, I stead she smothers us! Lol, as if we would never come back!
That's a beautiful dog! Good luck with her. I hope she lives a long and happy life with you all!
*Awe, I have four Puppies (well, 2 yrs old). 2 from same litter, they both brindle. One looks like Irish Wolf Hound (except slightly shorter fur, same texture with beard n all -ADORABLE) , the other has long hair like pyranese, but thinner, and dark black snout n face like another breed, Black or Choc Lab? still ADORABLE! they are not as big, only 37-30kg. AND THEY DON'T ESP. LIKE BATHS* - consider yourself fortunate. My daughter n I have to bribe to stay in tub with treats lime cooked salmon the whole time. Your dog is Very Adorable!
Sarai is the one that looks like a (not miniature) Junior Wolfhound. That gene was most dominant. I wish I knew the other breed gene that dominated her sister Tiara?
The music was a great touch.
She's so cute. I love Irish Wolfhounds!
Clean
The cleanest I've been
An end to the tears
And the inbetween years
And the troubles I've seen
Now that I'm clean
Best. Bath. Music. EVER!
She is sooooo sweet, love it.
The Creator made a very huge mistake, I wish he would correct:
He made a dogs life span too damn short.
If you meet him before I do tell him that , and tell him there will be millions upon millions of eternally grateful, if he fixes that problem.
It wasn’t their fault. The Irish wolfhound has always been of this size.. they’re actually very VERY close to the wolves since they were around since 273 B.C. Since they are so huge over time their hearts slow and can’t keep up with their size
My Irish Setter, Rusty Dawg, used to zip cross our street and jump into the back yard with the neighbours Irish Wolfhound.....the two were quickly joined by another nearby neighbours two Irish Setters and the four "Irish" would be in seventh heaven together romping about......! A great sight for Irish eyes.....!
Cool music, lovely wolfhound
Aw, such a sweetheart. Don't get why anyone would thumbs down.
Funny as ...thank you ...beautiful dog for beautiful people
Lovely dog - and great taste in music, kid!! x
Would love to see a normal speed video of how your groom her afterward. Beautiful dog and family!
That is a comically tiny tub XD
My neighbour has two Wolfies. I love to watch them run full bore in the park. I enjoyed the speeded up video and mad music. I takes forever to groom a big dog.
Maggie does that crazy running too, it always makes me laugh! And yes, it is SO time consuming to groom such a big dog, but I am SO thankful that she enjoys it so much!
@@Bethanydoesthethings *Yeah, my part, that looks full, but half as big, is the only of my four pups (dogs) that would jump over the fence if unattended and run amuck in the neighborhood until she tires. Then she comes home & waits at the front door to be let in. I read they love to take SPRINTS til they tire out.
@@Bethanydoesthethings How long did the process actually take? Two hours??
My never could get wet ENOUGH to have suds lol. Her wire hair. I heard is a protector against weather elements, wolf's.
I also have a wolfhound named Maggie. She has a cream coat tho. The big thing is tho, she had a traumatic experience with water. She fell in our COLD pool the day we got her and panicked. Now she HATES BATHS. Normally she would just follow my mom to the bathroom no problem. But it’s like she KNOWS when it’s bath time. Yikes.
i have an irish wolfhound named meggie! quite similar, yours looks about the same size as mine. your wolfhound if gorgeous!
Omg. Maggie's amazingly cute!
que hermoso, tengo uno de 4 meses y está muy grande, y sigue creciendo.... saludos desde Chile !!!
God how i wish my Wilfred liked baths lol. I usually take him to get groomed but he always hates it. I feel so bad, he has a lot of anxiety. Now with COVID I don't feel safe taking him anywhere. Probably going to try to bathe him outside this weekend! It's been quite hot out. Too bad he hates water - wish me luck! Lol.
lovely dog but is she a mix? she seems small for an IW which is kind of awesome because always hesitated getting one because all the ones I met were so large.
+Bryan Danek she is pure bred, but yes, she is rather small for her breed, which gives me some hope for her longevity and joints. And females are typically on the smaller side compares to the males. They are great dogs, really smart, and absolutely think that they are people. And definitely feel entitled to anything they can reach! Haha
Yes their lifespan was another huge concern. Hopefully your girl will have a long, happy life. Cheers.
+Bryan Danek I surely hope so! Thanks!
You are right! She is mixed! She is way too small for an Irish wolfhound! And i am Irish. But their is people all over the world making money from this!
@@lesliemccaghy9611 probably an Irish Wolfhound/Scotch Deerhound cross. Lovely dog just the same.
OH GOD!!!
Just watching the tail gives me so many painful memories of my two wolfhounds... :D
The second one suffered from happy tail syndrome and half of it had to be amputated.
AND THAT WAS EVEN WORSE!!!
IT WAS LIKE A FUCKING POLICE BATON AT CROTCH HEIGHT!!!
He would push and rub himself against you and when he moved past you he'D SMASH YOUR CROTCH WITH HIS MAG LIGHT TAIL TWENTY TIMES PER SECOND!!!
I miss him a lot... *sigh*
Yours seems to be a bit smaller, how much does she weigh if you don't mind me asking?
RoonMian oh, trust me, Maggie's tail is BRUTAL! I got a welt once on my thigh from her just running last me! Last time we went to the vet she was 105.
Yeah, my dudes were both 3 feet to the shoulder and ~150lbs.
I miss them incredibly. I hope Maggie is gonna get 100 years old. She looks like an adorable goofball :D
My Freddie was 166lbs! But he didn't know it so he never "threw his weight around" - just his tremendous love! Twenty-some years later I still miss him and cry tears over his death.
gorgeous girl, they always seem to know when its treat time...ha ha
5 minutes latter, looking just like before :D...
Beautiful magnificent dog though.
Maggie is a good dog. I wish my dog Walter (Irish Wolfhound X Scottish Deerhound) could meet her, they would have such fun. Thanks for the video.
+Adolph Hitler I bet he is lovely! I love the look of deerhounds too, which breed does he favor more? Also, we had a cat named Walter, great name!
She's lovely
What’s the name of the kazoo song while the dog is getting bathed?
She is such a good girl :)
I would recommend using cold water to clean your wolfie, because their tails are weak of how long they are and can easily break because of the temperature change. Also is your wolfie mix she seems very very small for a Irish Wolfhound.
Maggie is all kinds of out of this world beautiful
Irish wolf hound dad here! My boy rosco loves the bath but hates hair cutes and it’s like boy your hair is so mattedddddddd! So I’ll brush and brush and brush him and secretly will cut then knots out when he’s it paying attention
I had three male IW back in England...Lovely natures but bath time was traumatic ( for me, not them LOL)
I wish it was that easy to give our IW a bath. It would save us money.
+Alan Loves Music! Definitely! I'll take her to get groomed sometimes when she is specially grimy and it's like 75 bucks! Crazy!
Love her. Wish I had a Maggie !
How much do they shed ? Seems like fur sits in coat until brushed or stripped from the videos I’ve watched. Or do you find hair in home like you would with golden retriever and constantly vaccum. I grew up with goldens but Would love an Irish wolfhound.
They do not have a big blow out like many breeds, you will find some hair when vacuuming, but it's really minor. That wiry coat does not lend to constant shedding and cleaning.
Beautiful girl!
+Tip Aly thank you!
My hounds HATE baths, and I have no clue why, any and all of them hate them, even pups that are having baths for the first time.
She looks just like my Irish Wolfhound.
Just 😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😇😇😇
She's like, "I wanna get WET, mama. 'Clean' is a byproduct."
I’m dizzy now!!
wow ! it's a big work .... !! impressive !
Do Irish Wolfhound never bark ?
Oh, she would bark! When she would get excited/ wound up, and definitely if the door bell rang! Irish wolfhounds are also known for their "singing"
@@Bethanydoesthethings ah ?? interesting !! :-)
Yes, they bark...when they actually have something to say! They are never mindless yappers!
We have a wolf hound that is 4 her name is fiona
Kristi Sanderlin was reading this comment and that's a great name so much so that we named our wolfhound that, R.I.P our Fiona man, sad.
+Kristi Sanderlin that's a great name! I find that people with IW's tend to choose spectacular names for them!
+Brian King I'm sorry! I never knew how difficult losing a pet would be until we lost one of ours several years ago. Such a loss!
do wolfhounds shed?
Jenna Chance not in the traditional sense. You'll find some hairs around or when you vacuum, but they don't have "blow-outs" since they don't have an undercoat.
thanks for the reply:)
They do shed. And they have an undercoat. Some shed more than others. I have had 5 and they have all shed to some degree. But sooooo worth it. They are the most fantastic breed and my forever loves.
Beautiful Maggie
The young boy is cool...
She is so beautiful 😍 dose she shed ?
Yes they shed.
How old is Maggie
+chase she's about 5 1/2 years old now
I prefer large dogs and have lived with many. But I avoid the huge breeds since they have short lives which brings the heartache of their passing sooner.
Ocotillo David it does, but that also allows us to have many wonderful dogs in our lives. I am on my 5th and last wolfie due to my age. I can’t imagine having another breed. There is nothing like a wolfhound for filling your heart.
Beautiful dog, lots of maintenance though. How old is she? Funny how she just sits in the kids pool while you bathe her.
Not that much maintenance. A brush run through a week and a bath or 2 a year. Some cleanup and that is about it. Pretty low maintenance really. And I have had 5.
Beautiful girl!
IS she fully grown, as she doesn't look like the HUGE WH you usually see!
Yes she was full grown, and yes she was on the smaller side for a WH.
@@Bethanydoesthethings Ok, sweet hounds!
How old is Maggie?
She was 9 when she passed from osteosarcoma in February of this year.
So sorry to here that. What an amazing and lovely dog 👍🏻
So sorry to hear she is gone. They leave such a huge hole in our hearts. You are young enough to get another. Ours is 18 months, but if he makes it to 10 I will be 75. And my husband said that is too old to get another. So I am just loving this one to pieces!
76 degrees is nice, but I don't have the heart to wash my dog in cold water.
Just wondering, do you have your hound s body cut?
Would have been better with yakety sax as the time lapse music. Just sayin. 🤷♂️
Nice video minus the obnoxious song .
She looks like Scottish deerhound. The only reason for owning a dog
