I love these dogs. They're so obedient and friendly. Guy up the street from me used to have one when I was a kid. I think the dog's name was Goolie (stupid I know). But Goolie loved playing with the kids on the street. He was especially good at playing frisbee. And he just loved when the ice cream van would come around, because he knew us kids would give him tidbits. One time I let my cone fall onto the ground and Goolie looked at me first, as if to get my permission, before he ate it.
They're also VEEEERY gentle. Normally, in vids like this where the dog meets a loved one/master after a long seperation, they usually go all "BRWJBKWRBUSKWUEUEUHKW" and bounce all over them. This sweetheart? Gently goes up to him, gives him a little time to process his presence, gets pet and reciprocates with a smooch before going right back to his owner/friend's pace. God, I fucking want one.
We had an Irish Wolfhound mix, so she was only about the size of a Lab. Not only was she so gentle, loyal and disciplined, but was the smartest dog I've ever owned. And in her youth she was a "frisbee dog" catching them in mid-air most times. What an amazing dog! 👍
It is sad to see any pet go, but the length of it's life doesn't make it any less of a companion. In fact, I think my Irish wolfhound squeezed more love into 7 years than any human could fit into their entire life. Wolfhounds are renowned for there gentle and loving nature, and I honestly can't think of a better breed for someone who needs a friend.

Loved this video. Growing up, my Mom's best friend and her husband raised Irish Wolfhounds and it never ceased to amaze me how wonderful this breed is. They're massive! What an undertaking. Good for you!

I remember when I was 6 me and my mom and brother were walking around this park, and we saw a lady with two irish wolfhounds. Honest to goodness, they came up to her shoulder. I remember they had a little dachshund with them too that would play with the two wolfhounds. They were huge, as big as horses to me. Really sweet dogs though
I got to meet one of these beautiful dogs at a festival in Ireland (where I live) and he was such a gentle giant, his name was Cormac and he loooooved a good scratch behind thhe ears!

Both where super chill and relaxed, just happy to go on a little walk, and me, my friend and probably half the city watched them from a respectful distance and completely fascinated by the Hound's size. Meeting them irl is a crazy experience, because only then can you really comprehend how gigantic they are. I love them so much.
God youtube, you can't just keep recommending me these great wholesome videos with the subtext it's been 11-12 years and that dog is probably LONG gone.
So cool to see when the dog runs after the owner all happy and stuff =] that means you guys are real friends that treat him well... Feels good to know that still have people like this on earth =]

He still belonged in a leash. And I love dogs.
He takes scratches like a good boy and doesn't get too wiggly/excited.
