- #StarWars needs a what if show!
And with #Arcane breaking #Netflix records, we have the perfect artsytsle and example for the animated Star Wars what if show. The League of Legends adaptation breaks the curse of bad video game movies. And Disney should realise that the Star Wars franchise needs an Arcane styled show. The love to detail and the visible passion for storytelling and visual design is the main reason this show feels and looks so good. Watch Arcane and Jinx with a lightsaber as i talk about marvels what if connection with Star Wars and Arcane. Talking about Arcane charcters, story and how Star Wars can learn from that and change its formula.

People are hoping so many things will do what Arcane did. That's part of the problem. Somethings won't work that way and certain franchises can't work that way because there is so much input from the money people that they can't.
What Riot did was amazing because they basically did it, in house, with people they had worked closely with. The built a relationship of trust with animation studios and writers. They basically did what they wanted to do and it probably helped so much that they cared more about the product than they cared about peoples opinions of it. Whether is was successful or not they still would have been proud of it.
Throughout the first two acts I was just waiting for a character to make a spectacle of Vi being a strong masculine-presenting female character and I was pleasantly surprised that it was never brought up. In the show it is something that just simply is and that is exactly how it should be. Arcane does female representation perfectly and other writers need to take notes. Star Wars sequels just messed up there...
Even though i think star wars often does a good job at depicting strong female characters, eg Satine, Leia or Ahsoka or Jyn
Actually show does all representation right. Nobody is making fun of Claggor for his weight, nobody is pulling punches against women in fights just because they are women, same sex relationships seems perfectly normal and organic, etc. Arcane does representation perfectly by simply not putting spotlight on things like gender, race or appearance, instead allowing character's actions speak for themselves.
@@AppleBaron and they also dont let that stick out. Everyone is just ok with that without commenting on it.
No one complained about Vi being a strong masculine-presenting character because beyond that she is just a really good character.
Good thought! +1
Arcane blew my mind. A star wars series done with the same care, in a similar style, maybe a series about Mara Jade, would be insane. She would be the perfect character. An orphan, raised by the Sith and forced to fight even though she felt it was wrong, meeting the last Jedi Knight (Luke) and falling into a forbidden love, even though they both continued to try to kill each other for a long time, and then eventually forming an unbreakable bond. Would be so epic.
If I could, I would pitch you as the director of such a show to Disney :D
Its insane how 3d tv animation went from the blocky and weird lighting of the clone wars season 1 to how it looks nowadays
The animation is at movie standards, and coincidentally or not that was george's vision for the tv 3d animation industry when making the clone wars
I never played lol but the show... oh man
Actually i had no idea that it was LoL. Just heard that it should be a nice show and someone forced me into watching it. Had normal expectations but the got me so hard...
Arcane did what Star Wars couldn't.
I already feel like Jinx's (Powder's) story is so much better handled than Anakin's.
A tragic hero that's doomed to fail (or at least remain a criminal and go slightly insane) but I already care so much more about her than Anakin.
This is exactly what the prequels tried to do and failed so miserably at. I'm loving cheering for a character that I already know is going to go through so much pain and suffering and actually caring about her.
Actually some nice parallels here
But at least the preqels are better than the wokeshit KK created
I recommend reading novelization of Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover (as well as Laibirynth of Evil by James Luceno). It is a great one that goes much deeper into Anakin's and other characters (like even e.g. Dooku) psyche and thoughts and many stuff that was not shown in the film. Here is a tribute to Anakin's story with narration from the book: czcams.com/video/q8c5hKyThu4/video.html
Oh shut the hell up, I'm tired of you prequel hating whiners
Y'all got clone wars. Star wars already a little overexposed.
Much rather see Warhammer 40K done in a super high quality animation style with a high budget
RIP Astartes
let the guy that made astartes or the one that made guardsman do it
Banger sound
A Star Wars show like the What If? show could be a representation of star wars legends.
Actually a very smooth way to connect legends with the new canon
Hahah. Disney don’t have a talent nor skill to make quality content of Arcane lvl. Best that they can manage is mando
star wars lacks emotional depth? did you watch TCW S7 or The Mandalorian? neither of them needed more emotions
I think the main criticism was towards the mainline movies, which is where the vast, vast, majority of Star Wars consumption is. The fact that you even specified the final season of TCW and not the series as a whole is indicative of that; and personally, I consider TCW (and TCW '03) some of the best Star Wars content there is. Mandalorian and Rogue One are also top notch. But the 3 trilogy movies fall flat in that regard if we're being brutally honest.
That was more ment like "they dont really put much effort above the normal level in it". The new content is not really outstanding in terms of story or character design. (Martez sisters arc, many episodes of mando, Bad Batch also seemes just as a fanservice crowd pleaser show. Thats just not comparable to the old tcw seasons where you can really feel the passion that went in there... (except s7 mandalore ark, that was nice)
@@deshthewraithLoL +1
I really dont like when you feel that passion is missing in a project (its just not originel content then...). And i love when you realise that many people put much effort and heart in (like RO, which also tried something new)
I think the clone wars fills in that need just right. Although arcane is consistently great and doesn’t reach the lows of some parts of clone wars (mainly due to it telling a tight 9 episode narrative and not being a 120+ episode anthology series), I would argue that the peaks of the clone wars are far higher than arcane. It’s no question that the writing for arcane is fantastic, especially with any of the episodes from the third act, but I’d argue the writing for clone wars’ best arcs like the siege of mandalore, ahsoka framed, maul’s takeover of mandalore, and umbara are even better in terms of writing, characters, and themes. I’m not saying any of this to downplay arcane’s achievement, it’s my second favorite animated series of all time after clone wars, and both series are outstanding when it comes to visuals and animation, especially considering how they have similar styles of incorporating stylized 3D animation with painted textures and environments. And it’s no question that both have some of the best writing, worldbuilding, characters, and themes in the entire medium of animation. I’m just making the point that the clone wars at its best surpasses the quality of arcane and has told some of if not the best stories not only in Star Wars but in fiction period.
you mean clone wars?😭 the arcs are even similar and it characterized anakin very well so
Well actually right... but maybe its time for a more up to date show like this
@@TheRogueOneYT there’s also rebels. a lot more close-ended than clone wars and great characters also
@@AaliyahBRoach They made another called resistance, but its artstyle and quality is ass compared to the other shows, it even feels like it has the same uninspired writing the sequel trilogy had.
@@joshjo9405 yeah that’s why I didn’t recommend it lol. rebels is actually my favorite of the 3 bc I prefer the format but clone wars is definitely their greatest and has influenced many franchises like arcane
Agreed. Well made video
what is this new youtube layout im getting here?
It already has what it's going to get with visions
Hat da jemand Nerdkultur gekuckt?🤣
always a great inspiration
the star wars version of arcanee is liuterally just the clone wars
its time for a more up to date Clone Wars Show
2:20 Leach of leggings
Darn. I was really curious to watch this, but too many spoilers, had to skip almost all of it. Haven't seen Arcane yet.
Which spoilers?
I dont have netflix xD
Me neither xD
Pffff wot a bunch of peasants.
My little pony. You should check it out. Surprisingly awesome
There is an Arcane styled show in Star Wars. It's the Clone Wars
He's talking about the quality of the writing not just the art style, plus the art style of Arcane blows Clone Wars out of the water as well.
I think its time for a more up to date Clone Wars like show. And comparing Arcane and TCW, the wiriting and staging is way more advanced and mature. Even though tcw had some really nice arcs and episodes!
Don't really get the fuss about this show really. :/
Did you see it?
The Clone Wars > Arcane
but what do you think of the what if?
Star Wars visions was a failure and a mistake
I was not engaged with Arcane. It was not interesting. I couldn't become invested in any of their stories. It's a dark show. Literally. I cant see sh*t. The colors are grey and dark grey.
I have never played League and I couldn't watch this. I genuinely don't understand how anyone who doesn't already play League can get into this. Im sorry, but I thought you were going to show specific examples of what Arcane did that was unique, but you just showed clips of what turned me off from the show. Nonsense action between characters I didn't relate to or understand their reasons for doing anything.
Well I also never touched LoL (and hopefully will never touch it) but the Show was stunning and an art masterpice.
Concerning your first point: I would buy a better TV then
I showed Arcane to my parents and they watched on their own after because they liked the story and artwork. I believe youre a very little minority that thinks that way
