  • Skyhook Games, New Midland Mainline route for train sim world 3 has finally arrived!
    In this video I drive the new class 158 On the Route between Nottingham and Derby Railway Stations in the UK Midlands. As Always, Ill give you my honest thoughts and opinion on the train and the route, reviewing it in a fair and balanced way.
    The New route features the HST as well as the cummings class 158, both in East Midlands Trains Livery. 37 Miles of track are modelled between Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. look out for landmarks en route such as the cooling towers and East Midlands Parkway.

    Re the 158 being "Not my regular form of traction", I think that would make a good window sticker, similar to the old bumper sticker saying "My other car is a Porsche".

    You can take power in brake step 1 in all 158s. The correct operating procedure for the 158 is, when pulling off, to always leave the brakes in Step 1, apply notch 3, release the brakes, then apply notch 5 at 10mph, and notch 7 from (minimum) 20 mph. This procedure makes hill starts a non-event. They literally feel like any other start. Any drivers you see doing a "Notch 7 pull" from a standstill is braking procedure! 😄 This is not a performance limitation in any way - it's purely a noise prevention procedure, for passengers on platforms. (156/158 retired driver, 24 years, Northern, based in Newcastle)

      I've heard that sometimes you can apply notch 2 instead of notch 3, especially in highly built up areas. But the notch 7 pull, literally every TfW driver breaks that rule 😆

      Thank you for sharing. I think that the sound of the 158s cummings engine in this game, doesn't sound close to real life.

    Great video again Dad ;) Those rusty variations on the platform benches are route tasks and can be painted to look brand new and have a wet paint sticker added, nice touch lol

    Ratcliffe power station.
    Fun fact, whilst I was on my handling hours for driving, me and my mentor got screwed over by the taxi booking system. We were stuck in -4 temperatures until a one of the other drivers who got cancelled kindly came to pick us up!
    That was also my first shift driving out of the classroom 😂

    I have only just spotted this. Sorry for the delay. The tunnel next to Ratcliffe power station is Redhill Tunnel, and is adjacent to Redhill Marina. I know this section of line very well, and the EMT refurbished 158s. I was astounded at the quality of the modelling of the stations, and the 158 interior was spot on. The only thing I did notice is that the trees seemed to be a bit random. Way too many in the Draycott area, and not enough at Trent junction / sheet stores junction.

    I would say that this has real potential! Still a few things that need sorting, anyone notice when he left the cab the PIS screen said this is Long Eaton and then all the rest said This is Newark Castle? Some outside features to work on, but overall I am looking forward to this! Working as a guard on these units, the sound of this does seem pretty authentic. As you said though, it is missing the 2 car stop boards and a shame that the PIS select doesn't work in the cab. Externally the PIS screen display is way too small compared to what they are in reality. But as pre-release.... very hopeful and looking forward to getting this and riding the line from the other end of the train :)

    hi fella, noticed you mention a couple of times about benches on the mml line and about how some look freshly painted whereas some look like they need paint, thats a collectable item. Also, on the 158 have a go at accelerating in notch 5 or 6 and watch what happens with the gearing

    From what I was reading in the comments when this was announced some of the fan base was going to be royally unforgiving if the sounds for the 158 were not right

    I would gladly pay double for the train packs from dovetail, if they actually did the whole train and not just the driving part. Such as any and all functions and computers. Also the soundscape is hit or miss with a lot of the content they pump out. I just want to be held and immersed in my little world.

    The only issue I have with a 158 is that the wine is a little to fast and the wine up is a little to high pitch at the start

    The sound drops at circa 56mph because the drive to the wheels swaps to hydraulic from electric (a conductor told me, I only assume for efficiency..passenger comfort?)

    Devs have to eat? Yearly profit 32,000,000 euro. They don't have to eat in a Palace. Public knowledge, try a tiny bit of research.

  • @BobC250
    @BobC250 Před rokem +1

    Terrible, low quality, low ambition release. The route looks like a 2014 TSC release, lighting and texture quality wise. And we'll not even mention that the route is only 30 miles and 3 neighbouring cities. The Midlands Line with expansions for TSC (from Justflight) provides 289miles of usable track. The 158 is ok but the AP 158 from TSC is so much better in every regard. The 43 is so lacklustre and the old HST from 2012 in TSC, with AP Pack is again so much more immersive. TSW3 is just the definition of dumbed down, when it comes to train simulation.

    • @SJAEDM
      @SJAEDM Před rokem

      I tend to feel that in terms of time, TSW works for me better at the moment with added responsibilities. But I'll always have a soft spot for TSC. Doing your own scenarios, the AP mods, and the newer routes all make for a more complete experience. Railway sims do need to depict a bit more grit than TSW does, where everything is shiny.
      The one exception for me personally is the BML. That was very well done due to the limited types of traction that run on it (mainly just missing the Thameslink 700 layer) the overall route quality and the massive timetable mode.
