      Yeah, I thought that that was dumb advice.. People don't understand what impact their words can have when guiding others through new processes.

    This helped so much! My earpads were really bothering me to the point when I would wear them I would have to put something over my head before putting them on! Anyway, thank you for this video!

    TIP! Use hair dryer to loosen the black "lip" that is attaching the pad to the actual headphone, set the hair dryer to middle heat and in circular motion around the edge of the pads blow the air on it for around 10-20s, that way they will come out waaaay easier without any pressure (that torn my previous pads), same way when re-attaching back on the headphone, use hair dryer again to loosen the lip - for re-attaching I would also recommend just attaching a small bit of the lip on, and work your finger from the inside of the headphone out (from the area that is producing the sound outwards) basically pushing the lip on the headphone edge if that makes sense, not pulling it to again, not break things. Also feel free to wash the head band the same way as these, worked great for me.

    Another tip or rather a warning, dont use a vacuum to remove the hair and crumbs directly from the headphones. I destroyed my 880pro by gently cleaning them that way 🙃Edit: Perhaps you should also be carefull with compressed air , as the inner membrane is very sensitive.

    Interesting to see Beyerdynamics official statement: "Use only water, no detergents". They want you to buy replacement pads as soon as yours get a little greasy/dirty, huh.

    • @Scoby
      @Scoby  Před 3 lety +1

      Could be! I've had no issues cleaning mine using this method and done it about 3 times in total now.
      It's possible over the long run it could wear them down, but honestly clean pads are worth it :)

      @eatyourvegetables1449 Před 9 měsíci +5

      Detergents can really ruin certain products. Instructions are there to help you not scam you. Even if they don’t show up on the first few washes, you’ll most likely start to see the damage the detergents do to your pads. But at that point you might as well just pitch in 40 bucks for some new fresh pads.

      @carlcarlson9021 Před rokem

      Hey there, if you still have the headphones and would like to try cleaning them again without ripping next time, use hair dryer to loosen the lip when taking the pad off and back on again, that way you wont tear it.

    • @carlcarlson9021
      @carlcarlson9021 Před rokem

      Mine were greasy to a point that when I put them on a desk on top of a paper, the paper became transparent from the oils in them :D GROSS! Anyway, following what the guy in the video showed, re-applying the step of soaking real well in water and then two rounds of gentle washing machine liquid soap - hand applied into the pads and rinsing and repeating worked well for me, no grease at all now.

    Not gonna lie, those still look rather vile. If I demolished ‘em that bad, I’d just invest in new pads. Better yet, just get some nice Dekoni pads and increase their comfort and sound even more.

    • @libEluLLah
      @libEluLLah Před 2 lety +4

      that means your earpads are aging and it is not a bad idea to replace them

    • @stevensavoie856
      @stevensavoie856 Před 8 měsíci

      Or it means the detergent you used didn't work well with the ear pads. Some combinations of chemicals will do just that. Either way, it's not 'normal'.

  • @Drinkyoghurt
    @Drinkyoghurt Před 2 lety +2

    Yeah, using beard oils just make these get dirty real quick with me and after a few weeks they develop a musk. Good solution, but I'd probably just chuck it in a bag and then in the washing machine for some deep cleaning.

    could you put the earpads in the dryer instead of letting them air dry?

    • @Scoby
      @Scoby  Před 3 lety

      You could, but I would be worried what it would do to the leather/faux lether on the back side I think it might dry it out and crack it. So maybe for a few mins to help with the drying, but don't think I would risk much longer!

      Some people just have oily skin and mixed with hair dead skin cells and oil it csn fuck those earpads up quite a bit.
      I shower every day and mine get that build-up.
