BMW 6 Series 2015 | Water Leak Found |

💧 A BMW with blocked drainage holes in the scuttle trough, which is leaking in through a blanking plate. This video is practically identical to one we shot back in October. Although CZcams might not like us being repetitive, it illustrates perfectly that this is not a unique problem. This is really the whole reason for this video channel because we keep seeing the same leaks in the same places.
Solution: That blanking plate will need to be resealed, and the drainage holes need to be unblocked. This goes for all makes and model of car, leaf debris falling from trees gets down in that trough and piles up in there over the summer and autumn, then when the rain comes in the winter, water which is supposed to run into that trough and drain away has to fight past a layer of dead leaves. The trough then fills up to a point where it finds another hole to escape through, usually through the bulkhead. The bulkhead has lots of holes in it for cables and pipes to run through, so it will usually find a way.

I noticed my passenger side rear carpet (on my 640d gran coupe) was soaking a few months ago, i was pressing down on the floor and water was coming out of the hole where the carpet velco clip was. I cleaned it up and dried it out. Thought nothing else of it. Tonight, i went to my car which was parked facing uphill, i havent driven since yesterday and its been raining a lot, to find a roughly 3 inch pool of water in the rear passenger side footwell. I'm assuming i have this blockage issue too!! So glad i saw your video.

I’ve got the same but mange to clear the front drains water now coming out fast.. but noticed it’s wet under rear passenger seat.. Uk model right hand drive ?? Any ideas guys

@@newagainautoreconditioning so what will cause wet under rear passenger seat floor well is flooded and damp under seat. Boot is bone dry and roof and door seals are dry could it be from the front still

@@jamiebennett476 Sorry, CZcams has hidden my previous reply to you, so I don't know what I said. So I may repeat myself.
Water always finds its way to the lowest point, so there are usually only one or two places it will end up - in the front footwells or in the boot. However there are dozens of ways it can get there. There are about half a dozen common ones that apply to all vehicles, such as leaking inner door membranes, pollen filter housings, blocked scuttle drains etc. And then there are a load of others such as cracked welds, miss-fitted windscreens or missing grommets. So we really can't tell just by where the water is ending up, which is why we do an inspection which checks all the common problems, then allows us to investigate.

@@newagainautoreconditioning hard to spot where the drains are in the video thats what i was getting at , i have a F06 2015 US spec , no leaks ,would love to get it done

@@Agent-mw8th The BMWs leak through that blanking plate even when the drains aren't blocked. I have no idea if the problem is the same on right-hand-drive cars though.

@@newagainautoreconditioning Does that apply to E60 as well. I have ingress into drivers side front and rear. Exactly as you describe. I thought it was windows and was thinking of changing vapour barrier. Funny thing is my mechanic told me the drain was clear so I took his word. He probably couldn’t be bothered testing it.
It’s on on drivers side not passenger RHD uk vehicle. No sunroof.
If it was doors I would see some water marks near door/ sill entry.
Sat in car and lots of water hosepipe towards door. No seepage. Couldn’t see any via scuttle drain neither but I guess it’s a slow process as next day they were soaked again.
Would appreciate any advice as your the only expert on here and mechanics body shop want to strip car to bare bones.😢
