Its been a while. Good to be back!
You don't mean you and Pat actually got in the same room together unprotected, right?
Didn’t even know this was a game! 👾
fun gamer nope lol.. played turtles in time.. never this one. Hey, it’s great that they still have plenty of games to compare!
@@jacklazzaro9820 Its all good. Got tested for the virus and came out negative.
@@ConsoleWars
Just voted for Turrican on Patreon.
Be great to see it as loved the game on the Megadrive as a kid 👍
Had to chuckle a bit at that bit where they said April has Never been to the Technodrome? The amount of times she was kidnapped and brought there was legendary even for an 80's cartoon.
[SNES Tournament Fighter punching Genesis Tournament Fighter]
Stop! STOP! He's already deaaad!
giftofgab247 Nope that shit isn’t gonna work
@giftofgab247 Smash-Up is ok, but the SNES Tournament Fighters is actually a classic of the genre that is still played at pro gamer events as a side tournament.
I'm a sega guy, but this is a first round knock out for snes.
Agreed. Sega got shafted on that roster.
@@Rschr101 Well Sega did get a few characters I would have loved in the SNES version like Casey Jones and April. Just the gameplay on Sega is much worse.
I think both Games should have had Bebop/Rocksteady instead of some of the random characters.
@@Gatorade69 "April" it's just Asuka with a name change lol
@@Neon_Plasma Nah dude that April is really Just Blaze Fielding from Streets of Rage. Seriously though, yeah she isn't really April. Though I like the idea of having April as a playable character, I used to have a comic of her kicking butt with a katana so I know she can fight.
Yeah, this is probably the most decisive victory on the channel.
When I saw the April O'Neal silhouette I was so afraid it would one of the guys in drag. Glad Dan had his wife do it.
I suggest you compare Star Trek: The Next Generation for SNES and Genesis
I've been saying this for what feels like more than a year haha.
This got a lot of likes. Might have to do it soon.
@@ConsoleWars ballz!!!! Ballz!!!!
Make it so
There's also a 16-bit game about Star Trek DS-9 on Genesis and SNES.
April looks like Blaze from Streets of Rage.
Yep, she looks closer to Blaze from Streets of Rage 3.
@giftofgab247 This. I'm quite tired of people complaining about April's design when the original was nothing like the 80s cartoon. In fact, I can say that I was an 80s kids and never really liked that cartoon, but I consider later Turtles iterations better (the 2012 cartoon is the best to me). Also, 2012 April FTW.
@@yoman8027 meh.. The 2003 Turtles cartoon was great too.
@@olschoolTonyCarter I'd place it behind 2012. My main grip is that it never had a proper closure. I remember reading there were plans for a season were tengu Shredder would come back and even face utrom Shredder.
Yes, I thought the Same...
Huge sega fan here... but i gotta say this.... snes ver. destroys the sega ver. Of tmnt tournament fighters
Destroys? Don't think so! The colors on the Snes are so vivid its ridiculous. The color palette for MD creates a much better darker atmosphere! Soundtrack is much better on the MD. Now if there are moving characters in the background well ok but with the Sega version they took a different approach obviously.. It takes place in the barren Dimension X. Snes ver. backgrounds is more like SFII, not a bad thing of course but its TMNT which is not SFII, if you get my point.. Like most of the games on Nintendo consoles Snes ver. is for the casual and mainstream gamers..
Every version of snes is winning .... :/
@@giercmen haha ok.. I am rubber you are glue!
I think the SNES version have better music and brighter. It's almost like the 80s cartoon version which is a classic.
@D core No way, I have both and the Genesis version of this game is completely boring. I mean the sound alone on the Genesis version is garbage. On the SNES the music feels crisp and clean. More modes, more interesting fighters, smoother fighting and even the design of the characters look better. Don't know what they were smoking when making the Genesis version.
I've just started the episode, but TMNT Tournament Fighters is just objectively better on SNES.
Every game is better on snes
Konrad Dera I grew up with a SNES and continue to be a bigger Nintendo fan but your post is demonstrably and objectively untrue. You’d have an argument if you said “most games are better on SNES” but “every game” is just false. Period.
bigevilworldwide1 Genesis came out in 1989 and SNES in 1991. That’s 2 years, not 3.
Yeah honestly, it's not even close.
@giftofgab247 I'd argue the actual GAMEPLAY is better on snes, but MK without blood is..... well it kinda sucks. The first Mortal KOmbat games weren't good fighting games at all, but had an awesome gimmick... take that away and you get a crappy fighting game with no hook.
Knew from the jump the Genesis version was gonna get stomped on, but I still enjoyed the ride. Pat's come a long way since his first episode and he's in fine form here.
I own this game on SNES and had a passive knowledge of the Genesis version so I assumed SNES would win but I had no idea it was going to be this one sided. The Sega version never stood a chance.
The SNES has 64x the colors so the graphics are always gonna be better. The Genesis has to win with blood or better gameplay if it can
@@hecatomb1864 Also the SNES has 64x the colors but the hookup is a problem for the Genesis. The AV cable for Genesis is weird like a MIDI cable
and the output signal is weak I have had TVs that wouldnt even display it
@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539 that's not true at all. There are plenty of multiplats that look better on the Genesis.
Well done, as always, guys. The SNES is absolutely tops here.
Thanks bud!
Your review of both games along with the NES version is just as awesome for sure, BTW. :D
@@sonicmario64 Thanks!
Wait a minute, did we just listen to Dan dressed as Shredder say that a Super Nintendo game has a much better version than Sega? This is the end folks
Hey, Dan IS the writer. So he decides which version is better, I guess.
I already knew going into this it was going to be a slam dunk for the SNES, but that doesn’t mean the video wasn’t any less entertaining! Great job guys!
Its all about having fun, amirite?
@@ConsoleWars Right you are!
And the dating game was awesome too!
Awesome outfits 2:00
April hot AF. I said it.
I swear, this episode has the best "THAT'S IT, ARE WE DOING THIS?" ever!
It was supposed to be me spitting up my beer, but with covid-19 and all, jenga seems like the better bet.
@@ConsoleWars you genuinely made my whole week with this!
- I lol'ed. 😎
I’m still hoping for a ridiculous game pairing sometime where he says it in a confused tone of voice. Maybe for an AFD episode.
@@ConsoleWars as a huge fighting game fan, i loved this episode. Snes won Total blowout.
Please do Fatal Fury sometime!
I remember when these games were released. EGMs Sushi X hailed the SNES version as "better than SF2" and basically called all of the other versions paperweights.
I'll enjoy watching the video, but I won't sugar coat this: This episode is gonna be such a one sided fist fight. Sega doesn't stand a chance.
The Genesis got beaten across the board. Other then the Genesis ost Tournament Fighters was a huge dissapointment. The SNES version is a legit really solid fighter. One of the best of the 16-bit era.
I've always seen this channel as INCREDIBLY and CRIMINALLY underrated!! These guys have such good script writing and production and the concept is excellent!
Thank you so much!
April O'Neil is gorgeous. FYI....Snes KILLS Genesis version.
I've actually never seen the SNES game in action, I only had access to the Sega game. This wasn't even close, the SNES version is superior.
I just wanna say DONATELLO is the best turtle... peace out!
Luis Martinez Like I said, there has to be at least one. Lol. All the turtles are cool.
Make that two!! 🤣 but yes. They are all cool.
Of course they're all cool! But I believe we all a favorite one, and I'm team Donatello 👍 and Mikey is second on my list. I was very happy when I saw Donny on the cover for this game, they gave him a chance to shine.
He got the longest weapon which automatically makes him the best, yes, I am just that simple.
Donatello was always my favorite turtle. Then the way he can play in most video games with all that reach, further cemented the fact he is indeed the best turtle.
Honestly, before she was revealed I expected April to turn out to be Dan.
Ik April was portrayed by Sam.
For some reason I was expecting the porn star... 😐
@@vintagetvandexciting does she have a youtube?
April is meant to be a fighter in the SEGA version. 9:07 shows her joining the turtles to save splinter. In all other versions of the TMNT except the 1987 Cartoon and the three early 90's live action movies. April becomes a student of Master Splinter and becomes very skilled warrior.
_(The 2014 movie cut her fight scene with Karai and the foot)_
If they make a new Turtles fighting game, they should allow you to switch skins for the turtles. For instance, you can change between the Mirage Turtles, the 87 Turtles, the 2003 Turtles, the 2012 Turtles, and the 2018 Turtles. And they could add obscure characters like Venus de Milo.
TMNT Tournament Fighters on the SNES is one of the very best SFII clones on 16bit consoles, and one of the few fighting games Konami ever got right (Martial Champion was awful). Such a great game.
Ah. The mid 90s Street Fighter craze. Where every franchise that was even remotely recognizable was given their own fighting game.
If the TMNT Tournament Fighters games had one flaw that they all had in common, it would be the fact that there were only three versions of the games that were released that featured all the Ninja Turtles with the exception of one, who also happens to be my most favorite Ninja Turtle in the bunch:
Leonardo - NES Version
Donatello - SNES Version
Raphael - Genesis Version
Michelangelo - None
I'm Nintendo.
And I'm Sega.
THIS IS CONSOLE WARS!
God, I'm glad you guys are back. 👍
Good to be back!
I've literally been waiting months for this episode, and you did not disappoint.
Nice! Michelangelo makes the thumbnail because he didn't make the box office covers. Good to see him get some vindication after all these years.
Long overdue
Needs a gritty reboot. The turtles being in Injustice 2 was close to it. Plenty of characters to fill out a roster.
you guys are so creative, its not just a review, you guys make a show out of it. more to enjoy!
My first video that I’ve seen from this channel, and really enjoying it. Nicely done.
Dave Voyles Awesome! Welcome to the channel.
Mutant Warriors is the best version since Aska has her whole ass hanging out in that game.

Glad to be back!
Now let’s see a what’s the difference with the NES vs SNES versions (always loved the NES version best)
I second this.
For some reason, the turtles didn't have weapons in the NES version.
Great episode, guys. So good to have you back!
That was a really fun episode, one of the best. Thank you guys.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was a really good one . Well done !

Oh man, this one needs no comparison. While I enjoyed both games the SNES game was a huge part of my childhood.
You guys deserve more subs. You've been here for a while and are pretty entertaining. Your older videos bring me back like avgn. Im definitely a fan
Thanks!

Good to have you guys back! And a great episode, too!
Also, this is a big if, but I'd love to see you guys do an episode on the Dragon Ball Z fighting games for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, those being Super Butouden 2 and Bu Yuu Retsuden respectively.
Never even knew this game existed. Wow. Thanks for bringing it out !
Yush! Time to marathon some of the earlier episodes to get into the console wars mood!
Been waiting for this one. GREAT job!!! :D

0:51,oh man..didn't know you guys pumped out the budget to bring out the waifu of the show. ^///^
1:34,Awesome Shredder.
3:52,I'm usually pro-Sega but I can't in this case. SNES was way better in this regard. >_< I don't even fathom HOW they made it in the gameplay aspect on the Genesis.
7:30,I still consider Aska as Mitsu in another time.
11:53,ok..the music for both games are quite good. >_< No contest there.
16:00,Cyber Shredder was basically what happened in the Mirage comics where Shredder was dead but his brain or something was placed into a cyborg with very strange abilities. This Shredder also appeared in the TMNT 3 for Game boy.
18:04,XD
26:25,Cowabunga!! :D

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS PARTICULAR COMPARISON FOREVER!!!!! SURPRISED IT TOOK THIS LONG.
Console wars suggestion: Clayfighter - Snes vs Sega.
I’ve been surprised by this channel before by how close a battle was for a Genesis game I had written off in my mind but this episode wasn’t one of them. The only unexpected thing is just how one sided this video turned out to be and deservedly so. I had no idea TMNT TF on Genesis was this much inferior and the comparison wasn’t even close. Sure I’d rather have Casey and April instead of War and Wingnut but that’s all Sega has going for it. Clear TKO.
Who would've guessed Shredder had a humorous side or Casey sounding like the Dark Knight Batman XDD
Glad to see you guys back! Stay safe during the pandemic and see y'all next time!
Great video, guys! Keep going! It was also nice to see my comment in the end of the video.
Really solid break down as always, guys! Loved the skits. Sam definitely looked the part of April, and the Casey costume was awesome! Dan's Shredder costume looks a bit halloweenish though, you should've went to the Sharper Image for it instead... (get it?) :P Anyways, I had a lot of difficulty playing the game back in the day and could never get into it, but your video made me want to give the SNES version a second chance. The graphics are fantastic here. Really impressed with the visuals in the background and the superior tunes (IMO at least).
I get it!
Personally, these games aren't for me. I'm terrible at fighting games and they both kick me ass (especially the sega game).
My game right here boys. I'll give you credits dudes.
Hells yeah, I've been longing for this 1. Much thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I've always wondered which version was better. I've even lost sleep since 1993... Thanks for making this video!!
my favorite part of this video is the fact there are no typos
Little inside Patreon joke, eh?

@@DecayNJ You did good!
I think that's the best "That's it..." you've done 😂😂
Ahh sickkk. Glad you guys elected to do a quarantine video!
Glad you mentioned the smashing stages and ending for the Genesis. I knew the SNES was gonna win but glad the game I grew up with got love.
I knew that Nintendo was gonna mop the floor with Sega in this particular episode!
Super Turrican Vs. Mega Turrican should be interesting. (I think I even suggested that one!)
D core Yeah your right the Saga version was boring and for kids unlike the SNES version winch was way more fun and for all ages.
Super Turrican 2 was actually better than both previous versions
I have counted up all the Sega/Nintendo wins so far throughout all the Console Wars episodes and they are tied at 36-36 wins each! plus 2 games that were a tie.
It’s funny how the Nintendo fanboys often comment saying Nintendo destroys SEGA every time 😂 morons.
Dan Green And how "SEGA was winning too much because of Dan".
Truth is, Nintendo fanboys are overreacting. :/
Sega: I bet nobody select watch mode.

bout damn time!! been waiting 5 years for this one!!!
Probably the most lopsided matchup yet, and rightfully so.
I’m a Sega fan .....and I’m looking forward for that one sided slap from the Snes...Sega Version is one of the worst game on the console
Probably tied with Paperboy 2
Bloodless SNES Mortal Kombat against fatality-friendly Genesis Mortal Kombat.
@@midwestmonster9886 the SNES port does have many advantages when i comes to presentation, graphics and sound so isn't at the same level, honestly the Genesis version of MK1 isn't that great, it's a shame the Snes version was censored and the gameplay was screwed up.
I saw that coming ever since the hint was revealed.
Well no duh the SNES version won to be honest...
Still need to get the two games for TMNT...Turtles in Time is a fun one to play too.
Pretty stoked for this
Fun Fact: this game (or at least to my knowledge) is the first appearance of Karai. She is known as a big part of the Turtles mythos nowadays.
First video game appearance anyway.
I legit didn’t know this game was even on the Genesis. Nostalgia plays no factor here, SNES is clearly better in every way!
@D core lol sure...
@D core Sega fanboy. Stop defending it
Oh man. Some of these episodes are one-sided beatdowns. But this one... this one... This won't be a war. This will be a massacre.
Glad you’re back!
Tournament Fighters for SNES was the first fighting game that I ever owned, or played for that matter. I remember playing it with my dad when I was 4 years old. Such a great game!
I feel like both games dropped the ball on the characters. The SNES not having Casey Jones is probably the worst.
@D core Sega version definitely got it better. The limitations of the Genesis graphics would make more sense to base it more on the comics. Sega games tended to be darker and grittier. I think this even set the tone for Sega a lot.
lol
@@davejohn3600 That is one biggest false narratives of the Genesis. The limited colors palette in comparison to the SNES doesn't equal the Genesis being better suited for darker/grittier style games.
Sega could have released an entire library of "colorful" games. In fact the it takes much less artistic skill to pull of a colorful game on the Genesis then a "dark/gritty" game where shading is far more important.
The Genesis limited color palette leaned it's self towards games that used high contrast and bold colors. The SNES can pull of dark/gritty games far better because the extra colors can be used for shading and depth.
Why does the Genesis have more dark/gritty games on average one was completely reliant on the western market and saw tons of software development in the west (Genesis). The SNES was so Japanese dominated in software development they obviously got games that appealed to their tastes and the cutesy colorful games that come with it. The SNES definitely had a bunch of pastel colors the Genesis didn't have and lots of games make use of them.
@@supersexysega I think Sega tried to market more of an arcade look. They also targeted older gamers. As for the colors and grittier look. All I know is that when games that were relatively the same like Street Fighter 2 came out for both. The Sega games always looked darker and grittier. No matter what company made the games. I had both systems growing up, even all the Sega add ons. Yes, they had colorful games like Sonic but SNES could do more since it was newer.
@@davejohn3600 There are tons of side by sides on CZcams and like I said simply a false narrative. You are right about you're specific comparison of SF2 Turbo SNES vs SF2 SCE Genesis. MK 2 SNES vs Genesis would be an even better case in your favor. The SNES verison uses alot of pastel colors. The Genesis version is really gritty/dark looking.
What about
Super Street Fighter 2 On SNES vs Genesis. m.czcams.com/video/Mhqx01tF_Hk/video.html
Maximum Carnage Genesis vs Snes
m.czcams.com/video/sOQBNF7SQSo/video.html
Separation Anxiety Genesis vs SNES.
m.czcams.com/video/HRvgBagyBFw/video.html
The Genesis could have an entire library of games that look like Dynamite Headdy, Monster World IV, Fantasy Zone, Ristar and Crusader of Centy etc. Then half the comments are these look like SNES games.
The extra colors have 0 to due with a game being brighter/more colorful. The extra colors will always used for better shading and smoother gradients. The Genesis also made extensive use of dithering
Especially later in the generation to give the illusion of more colors. This method works great on old tube TV's via composite but not on modern displays.
I'm surprised you did a episode on this one. I always heard the Genesis version was universally hated. Seems like no contest.
About the Stage Transitions in the Genesis version, those weren't true Stage Transitions because you could only do it with specific characters (April, Casey, Krang, and Karai) as they were the only ones that had moves that could cause a Stage Transition, unlike MK3 in which every character could do it because it was used by the universal Uppercut, not to mention that the game would always bring you back the first stage in the next round, so you had actually a full control over it. Overall both games are amazing, and it's wild to see that these were the first fighting games that had extra modes besides the Arcade mode.
Its about time i've been waiting to see another console wars episode and not an awful quarantine stream
