    • @paxhumana2015
      @paxhumana2015 Před rokem

      @@ravager48 , there are actually a third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth film as well. The third one is a much maligned film that honestly had a very boring villain. The fourth one was, I think, a crossover with the MMPR (which was bad, yet somehow led to not one, but TWO, MMPR crossovers in the comic books). The fifth one was the animated one from 2007. The sixth one was a direct-to-DVD/televised crossover with the the 1987 TMNT universe (the 2012 TMNT and 1987 TMNT crossover episodes were done better). The seventh one was the Michael Bay one (which, despite being Michael Bay, was not at least AS bad as the third and fourth films). The eighth one was honestly a surprisingly good sequel to the seventh one, and it also helped to change the characters of Rocksteady and Bebop, along with the 2012 TMNT series, and the IDW comics versions of those two characters. The ninth one was a surprisingly good animated crossover with, of all people, Batman, which also led them being a part of two pretty good fighting video game franchises, namely, Injustice, and, as of the year 2023, Street Fighter. The tenth, and last one, is their most recent film in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem.

    • @paxhumana2015
      @paxhumana2015 Před rokem

      Actually, I forgot to mention the limited Japanese OVA series that literally no one remembers that kind of was honestly foreshadowing the MMPR crossovers as well...finding that one is tough work.

    • @paxhumana2015
      @paxhumana2015 Před rokem

      I honestly think that the plot to the third film should have been this game, but, in all honesty, pulling off that would have been difficult to pull off well in 1993, and making the Kraang/Krang be the focus in the film instead of just randomly going back in time somehow just would not have had as much of an impact without The Shredder, and then there were villains like Mr. Null, who would have scared kiddos and made SJW Karens/Kevins lose their minds, and fighting literal demons kind of is too much of a stretch, even in the TMNT sense.

    Underrated talent, filling dead air. Aside from explaining everything, there are times where the video could've gotten away with just leaving dead air and let the game footage speak for itself. However, the narrator manages to not only fill the entire runtime with talking, but also make it entertaining. Not all jokes are gonna land, of course. No comedian has a 100% hit rate. But I think it's a greatly underrated skill to be able to fill dead air and not have it be boring or seem like you're just talking to fill airtime.

There’s not really much that good fall apart, unless he starts bringing in new sound effects or trying to make things more bombastic. As it is, it works perfectly. And he can do this for the next 15 years, using the same exact format, and sound effects and it’ll work. Even Ryan George is sticking to his guns and keeping the format pretty much what we fell in love with. As long as they do, it’s going to work very well.

    Man, one of the games that defined my childhood. Mikey's tankiness and strong normal hits made him my go-to turtle.
    That said, something not mentioned was how scoring works. Since you get an extra life per 200 points, racking up a high score can prolong your session. Beating an enemy with your fourth hit in the combo gives 2 points, as does using the super slam with both the enemy used and the enemies hit. The Screen Toss gives 3 points. Anything else gives 1 point.
    However, using the Flip Tackle to kill an enemy will give 4 points, and opportunities to go for this are limited, but it is rather satisfying to accomplish, especially if you can kill a boss with it.
    That said, there is one big secret few pull off -- clearing a stage without taking any damage (meaning no super-usage) and ignoring any health-restoring pizzas will grant a whopping 80 points to your score.
    Also, fun tidbit -- when battling Leatherhead, you can deflect the lobsters he throws at you. Catching him with one, usually the third one he tosses, can stun him, letting you get in some free potshots.

    Some games live up to hype/reputation and some don't. Turtles in Time for the SNES totally did when I played it years after it came out. I didn't get on with the arcade version at first, auto run was pretty annoying at first, but I grew to love it too. The changes to the SNES version make it more cohesive, along with the clever Shredder fight, and incentivizing the throws with the point system. Those were all good ideas. I prefer the arcade music by quite a bit, and I also prefer Neon Night Riders as a regular stage as opposed to a bonus stage. But as a whole, the SNES game is very well made and is better than the arcade in a lot of ways.
    I had never seen that turtles damage chart before and it does fill in some gaps. I did notice that the differences between the turtles are more pronounced in the SNES version than the arcade. On my own, I was able to determine differences in general attack power, defense/vitality, range and speed. Leonardo is the most well rounded in those, being second best at all of them. I personally view him as the best turtle, at least for my play style, and a good choice for beginners. I also like using Mike for his power and durability, but he's the slowest with the second worst range which means it's harder to avoid hits and grabs which can be annoying. From the looks of that chart, Don and Raph are much more specialized and could perhaps be seen as extra difficulty modes. Clearly they can work, and Raph is definitely for speed runs, but I have little interest in leaning on Don's downward chop or spamming Raph's dash. But learning about Raph's dash power explains why he's so fast but frail(worst range, worst vitality, second worst power). But that's my point, that best and worst is going to come down to play style. Leo is the best for my approach which is more conventional, relying on the main combo with some jumping and dashing. Konami balanced the turtles in an interesting way, but it works and it's good to see the chart to see how they compensated for Don and Raph's weaknesses.

    This was always one of my favorite games in 1992. I wish it was one that I saved with my SNES that I still have today. I actually prefer the arcade version myself though if I got to pick. I liked the 4 player capability there first off. It was SO much fun on games like that, the first TMNT arcade, The Simpsons, and X-Men (that you could even have 6 players going in the biggest cabinet) to get a group of your buddies or people you just met, and have that great team experience in the arcade. Wow was it fun. But the arcade TMNT in Time also moved smoother, had more to the animations, had better synthesized voices, and better sounding effects and music. It also had the different title “screen saver” with the “Pizza Power” song, that was the actual vocal version. That’s just how arcade games still were compared to the home versions then. The dedicated cabinets always beat the cartridges. I also preferred the bosses and levels on the arcade of this game too. With the home version, it felt like they tossed in a few of the characters from the toy line just to try and make more money. But like I say, this was still probably the very best arcade port to a home console at the time for sure. If you ever find a copy of this today unopened and in mint condition? Holy crap does it go for bucketloads of money. Wish I had bought a few copies in 1992 and just not opened them. 🤑

    This game was so simple. 23 minutes is really the whole length of the game. The SNES version is better than the arcade.

    Considering how hard Slash is normally, cheesing him with that shoulder-bash chain is hilariously satisfying.

    revisit this one frequently...still my favorite beat em up and two player co-op from 16 bit era. Beat this one so many times and just about perfect as far as beat em ups go.

    The arcade boss for Prehistoric Turtlesaurus is actually Cement Man from the cartoon. "Cement Man LIVES!!" He appeared in the final episode of the alien eye saga, as a creation of Baxter Stockman's.
