    I don't think they realize how important their team is to the immersion of the game. Taking it from a bland space game to something vibrant and full of lore. Ya'll are doing a fantastic job. More please!!!

    I really liked this episode. When the new branding team was announced I was skeptical, it felt like a group that wouldn't have a TON of work to do, but ever since they've been introduced their presence has been felt. The landing zones feel more and more like real, tangible places with consistent histories and interactions with other parts of the world/economy. It's great.

      @@JTL664 I think this is exactly the kind of thing the cinematic team will have their hands full with, as soon as they're done with Squadron 42. I'd love to have tons and tons of commercials, maybe even some talk shows snippets and things like it playing on all kinds of screens around the verse. I think Cyberpunk 2077 is a great example of this.

    I think this is exactly what Star Citizen needs to go one step beyond the normal AAA world building. This is an aspect you usually do not think about but many people will feel the impact of this wonderful team for years to come. Well done!

    As a corporate-identity-focussed graphic designer in my 22nd year of work (who has also worked for game development in the past, BTW) I have to say:
    I'm sooo happy, that this team stepped in and did what they did. All those years I felt like Star Citizen was lacking a bit in visual coherency, but now its a whole immersive feeling due to these guys, bringing it all together with their beautiful overlay. Thx!
    I also like that sentence about branding starting to be also story telling... I feel you.

      Not only visual coherency. I was not surprised that they didn't have a style guide until now, with all the signs of lackluster management over the years, and was very happy when they said they build an interactive style guide with downloadable resources, references and negative examples from the ground up. I believe this will pay massive dividends over the years.

      @@JadeStarwatcher 3.23 adds almost no actual content or gameplay if you go through the cards. It's mostly just UI changes, changes to things that already exist, and some things that existed before that they're just redoing/bringing back. Even the new structure spaces are unfinished and incomplete, so those will just be more empty spaces that don't add gameplay. It's a bit annoying how little progress they're actually making towards 100 systems and tangible gameplay.

    This team is a huge part of why I got hooked all the way back in 2015. I remember reading the "ads" and brochures and falling in love with certain ships and brands.
    We would have no immersion without this team, and honestly that would mean we had no actual game.

    As a graphic designer myself, it would definitely be a dream job to work on Star Citizen. The variety and depth you could get into would be an absolute blast to work on.

    Love the signage in Star Citizen, so cool you can actually see where you need to go like in real life. Love the different in-game branding as well.

    Those brand style guides look exactly like the ones I've encountered at every software company I've ever worked for. I've always loved that y'all are literally just doing real branding and marketing, it's only the companies that don't strictly exist in our universe.

    This is so cool haha in-game branding makes the whole experience so much more immersive. The other day I was running through New Babbage and saw the Mobiglas 2 ad on the wall and thought it looked nice. But then it literally stopped me in my tracks when I realized that the upcoming Mobiglas Rework is being advertised in-game as a product and I just thought that was so cool. I don't know of any other games that use their upcoming features in development to add to the lore of the game. Genius game design.

    This is actually one thing I really like about this game compared to others. In addition to the obvious competition between the various ship manufacturers both in-universe and out, my character also has his favorite FPS weapons based on manufacturer, favorite food & drinks, and more.

    As a new player, I was delighted by the signage that helped me to navigate through the stations. It immediately immersed me into the verse; I had to rely on my surroundings as in real life, in a new place, which I thought was very cool. Hats off to all the teams involved and all the efforts put into this! It definitely is the cherry on top to the immersive experience.

    As an art director I find myself walking about in game looking at all the ads and packaging for products constantly and usually find something I haven't noticed before. They do a great job. It adds so much to the immersion factor of the game.

    I can't overstate how much I respect this team. Having consistent branding everywhere in the verse just makes it feel so much more immersive. PLEASE release the brand catalog as a hard cover coffee table book!! I would love to have a book showing the art of star citizen and these branding documents as part of it!

    One of the most important things that George Lucas did with his Star Wars is to recreate a "Lived Universe" which was shown to us, the viewers, as places that got dirty and looked worn out. That increased the realism and verisimilitude of that place and of course it was Cool!
    This branding team does something similar in Star Citizen and is very GooD!

    i appreciated that a lot of what they've done is make the game seem more complete. the branding was good, and the lore behind the brands help immersion, but the thing i appreciated most was simply giving the locations an identity. i mean I've been to several cities and the way they do navigation thru a city (or even just a venue) is always unique to the place. the signs, the maps, etc. tell you as much about the place as anything. and the idea that they're basically creating an advertising/marketing agency within the game does show how important this is. as a relatively new player i appreciate just having the direction signage. i know Area 18 isn't super complex, but I've gotten lost for 30 minute trying to find Astro Armada, only to realize i walked past it three times (looking the wrong direction to realize ur was there). or try finding Centermass with directions from anyone!

    As a soon to be Grad in Graphic Design this is one of my Favorite ISCs in recent memory. Sure Eva T2 and stuff is great but seeing this behind the scenes, nitty gritty of what people do in the field your entering for a game you love is very awe-inspiring.     As a designer myself, I absolutely loved this ep. It can't be overstated how much the branding actually contributes towards the immersion factor. It solidifies the believability of the environments. It's good to see branding maturing and this team is only going to take it further.
    Can you imagine the possibilities this team will bring towards racing? Ship liveries will certainly be a big part, but just like real life, I could see branding also around dedicated racing circuit venues.

    That was pretty cool! The decision to make Drake a "rebel" company rather than an "evil" one makes a lot of sense. The latter would have sooner or later been shut down by the UEE.

    The "You've Got a Lot to Do" in the cargo centers is so good, it stopped my girl and I when we first saw it. It was such a shock that it just made perfect sense in its design language. This stuff does not go unnoticed, great work, y'all!

    I appreciated reading through the comments below as they all share my sentiments. This team's efforts are a large part of why I looked past exploding right out of hangers, running into invisible asteroids, or falling out of elevators. Their work is not only the cherry on the sundae, but the harmony throughout the Star Citizen universe. They are one of the key reasons I held the line. Great show.

    In-universe branding is one of the hidden strengths of this game. Everyone knows about the ship manufacturer 'personalities,' but you can see similar distinctions in Covalex, Greycat, and assorted other entities. They do good work.

    This is something I've been doing at an amateur level for years in other user-created-content style online worlds, and now just starting to do in the real-world. It's extremely fascinating to see how true professionals tackle 'virtual' branding for something the size and scope of the brands in Star Citizen. Cohesive in-world branding and lore is extremely important to how immersive the environment is to the players, and it is something I'd wager most players never even think about. If done correctly, they don't, it just works.
    CIG's team has done a fantastic job, and I've taken note over the years how it has evolved and been refined. Truly impressive. Y'all may very well have my dream job.

    The fact that the brands kind of live their life outside of the game, on forums, in comments etc (and also in real life, having following of people, just like car brands have irl) is the ultimate proof that this is important. I don't know other games that successfully created in game brands that broke the 4th wall this efficiently. Really, stellar job!

    The branding and in world lore of SC is honestly one of my favorite aspecrs about the world. It's one of the most realistic feeling worlds out there because of how much effort they put into it.

    Awesome episode! I was fully expecting the part about the major manufacturers and advertisements, but was pleasantly surprised to see the team really focused on unifying other, more subtle aspects of the game, like graffiti, tattoos, navigational signage, etc. This kind of attention to detail will help make the experience seem more real and seamless.     Speaking of this sort of thing, I think it would be great if CIG would allow indie bands/artists to provide the music for all of these shops. Obviously there would need to be a vetting process if for nothing else than quality and vibe, but as we walk into a store or bar, a very subtle text pop-up could tell us the name of the track and the artist. It's on us to go track that down RL if we want it or to support the artist. I guarantee a lot of indie artists would do it in a heartbeat just for the exposure.

    Maybe this is a lore situation but curious if there is any talk for brand HISTORY...because iterations of branding is fairly common within corporations, curious if there is an internal marking for when something was made and therefor tieing it to an era of branding, much like Coca Cola in the 80s has a specific look. Having this messy mixed branding could help build that history by referencing older iterations and then tieing it to a historical period for that company.
