    "DW's Russia analyst." Think about the way Eggert is introduced by the DW anchor, "our expert." Maybe relying overwhelmingly on one "in house" analyst is not such a good idea? Yet DW has a small stable of go-to analysts that they use over and over and over. That's convenient for them, but not conducive to a diversity of views and self-critical analysis. Consequently, even though people on the outside marvel at the terrible track record of these experts and wonder why they are never called out (or even replaced?) for their consistently failed predictions, those inside the "DW bubble" all praise and support each other. It's kind of funny with the chaos and corruption on display in Ukraine to hear them highlight Russia's "revolving door" of leadership and "widespread corruption." Sure Russia is corrupt, but at least the money to build defensive lines was spent to build defensive lines. In Ukraine, along the Northern border with Russia, it seems that only 30% of the money allocated for building defensive lines was actually spent for that. With the result that those lines are about 30% effective.

    They have truly streamlined the procedure... Shoigu will be promoted with an emphasis on the Russian military industrial complex, which the western media has not identified as a national security adviser... As a national security council adviser, he has grown closer to Putin... whereas the new guy is an economist technocrat who will bring more money for military expansion by relieving Shoigu of administrative duties!!!
    As usual, the Western media portrays this as a setback; nonetheless, this is an excellent step in the midst of a major NATO escalation threat.

    • @bigfudge2031

      The military spending is so high because Russia can't take a small village without first blowing it to pieces, losing 30 tanks and paying crazy wages to convince people to be human meatwaves in the process to capture a village with 50 houses. Because of their wastefulness, they have to produce way more military equipment than they should.

      @@bigfudge2031when you fight against archers in sandals like the west used to do after ww2 it might be not clear that real war is different.
      The most interesting here is the "grinder": how is that possible when Ru army started with 200k men group in 2022, then mobilized 300k reservists only once, currently has 600k on the front, destroyed ukr counter offensive in 2023, started offensive now - and all that with only one mobilisation? Where are the "grinders", how is that possible just in terms of math?

    • @bigfudge2031
      @bigfudge2031 Před 13 dny

      @LidiaIsakova because mobilisation is completely different to recruiting. If people are mobilised, they are legally required to fight, if they are recruited they are paid well, but they are voluntary joining. Because the Kremlin doesn't want to cause unrest by doing another mobilisation, their only other option is to recruit (and not all those volunteers are Russians)
